Chapter 42: Tradition

After the Commander left, Myles and Nyxara proceeded to the living room.

When they arrived, they were stunned. There were three other succubus, sitting and chatting with the Guardian of Scarlet Bond.

When Nyxara arrived, their conversation halted as they simultaneously glanced at her.

“Oh, my dear little mistress, you are here.”

The three succubus’ ears perked up.

They finally recognized Nyxara from how their auntie addressed her.

“Aunt.” Nyxara smiled bitterly and bowed.

She then raised her head, swept her gaze to her cousins, and said, “Greetings, cousins.”

Her cousins simply nodded and turned their heads away from her.

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond said, “Oh, my dear little mistress, take a seat.”

There was a chair, facing her three cousins, and her auntie on the left side.

Without hesitation, she sat on the seat as she grabbed the tea cup her auntie poured for her.

“Thank you, auntie.”

“You’re welcome.” The Guardian of Scarlet Bond smiled deeply.

“Auntie,” said a succubus.

Unlike Nyxara who has violet skin and the Guardian of Scarlet Bond has scarlet skin, she has pink skin. She appeared pale and her hair was short.

She was undoubtedly pretty, but for Myles, compared to Nyxara, she was still lacking, especially with some fats.

The other succubus followed her.

“Since you prefer to call you by colors, Cousin. Then, you can call me Pink.”

Her cousin on the right said, “Y-You can call me Peach.”

The cousin on the left side of Pink said, “I-I’m Magenta.”

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond was satisfied.

Seeing the Guardian of Scarlet Bond’s soft expression as she nodded, Pink immediately took the chance and said, “Auntie, about the provocation by the Incubus race.”

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond placed the tea cup on the table and sighed.

Nyxara restrained herself from turning around to ask Myles’ permission. After all, if she had to ask if Myles was fine with it, it would attract her auntie and cousins’ attention. A knight could not refuse her master’s orders.

Nyxara felt troubled and the Guardian of Scarlet Bond was about to reject the idea when Nyxara suddenly said, “I-I’m okay with it.”

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond was surprised. She glanced at her nephew and saw her expression, seemingly relaxed.

She smiled. “Oh, I didn’t expect for you to agree, my dear little mistress. It seems you are confident in your Blood Knight?”

She glanced at Myles behind her nephew, who didn’t dare to meet her eyes, causing her to smirk.

Nyxara said, “The battle will be eye opening to him. Winning or losing doesn’t really matter.”

“That’s the spirit, my dear little mistress!” The Guardian of Scarlet Bond was elated by her nephew’s words.

However, she soon frowned when she realized her other nephews were being quiet.

She subtly glanced at them and they instantly met her gaze.

They shuddered as they quickly realized why their auntie was acting hostile to them.

They glanced at their cousin, Nyxara, and forced a smile.

Pink said, “Thank you, Violet.”

“T-Thank you, Violet!!” Peach and Magenta said awkwardly.

They failed to synchronize, but nevertheless, they managed to satisfy the Guardian of Scarlet Bond.

Nyxara, on the other hand, smiled and nodded. “You’re welcome, my dear cousins.”

She felt relaxed now. If it wasn’t for Myles pinching her nape, signaling he agreed to the duel, knowing Myles meant it that way, she would still be having trouble.

She then turned towards her auntie and asked, “Auntie, I didn’t know it’s a tradition where knights of particular infernal crowns battled against each other. And why don’t the knights of the dream sirens race participate?”

The Guardian of Scarlet Bond looked at her and smiled.

“Your cousins didn’t know, either. That’s why they hastily came here after they encountered the incubus races during their stay in the city, who immediately told them about the tradition.

This tradition is not mandatory, it’s not even in the law. It started with us against the incubus, until the other races, in particular infernal crowns who had disagreement with each other, wanted to prove which race is dominant through this tradition.
