Chapter 301: 301: Forty Masks

Simon did not bother thinking so deeply about the fact that he couldn’t even wear an armor because of the Chaos Wraps.

Since he couldn’t do anything about it with his current power, he’d let it go…for now.

Though, that does not mean that he was not annoyed or frustrated by it.

He didn’t even know what the Sword Daemon or even Lilith was thinking in making the wearer of the Chaos Wraps to be so restricted.

What was their goal?

These questions and many other questions were in his mind, and though he could have asked Lilith, he decided not to ask her for now.

After leaving the store that sold armors and weapons, the next store he went to was a store that sold masks.

There were various kind of masks placed all around, and Simon only took a brief glance before walking straight up to the shop owner.

Unlike the previous shop that had four female attendants, this shop had none, and it was also a small shop.

Barely half the size of the previous shop.

The shop was not only small, it looked old and rundown.

Simon walked up to the shop owner who was nonchalantly sitting on a chair with a gourd of alcohol in his hand.

“I want to buy some masks.”

Half of the shop owner’s face was showing because of the alcohol he was drinking, and the other half was covered with his mask.

The shop owner’s head went down slightly, and though his mask was not placed properly which meant that his eye holes were not where they were meant to be, he acted like he could see Simon through the mask itself.

He looked at Simon from up to down, then he clicked his tongue and scoffed.

“Your mask is not even damaged, so why do you want to buy another mask?”

Simon did not respond, and the shop owner scoffed.

He took a huge gulp from his gourd, bulped, then he nonchalantly waved his hand.

“Pick whatever mask you want to buy. I don’t care.”

Simon tilted his head slightly. “How much is your cheapest mask?”

The shop owner instantly scoffed and spat some of the wine in his mouth at Simon’s feet.

“So you’re even a broke bitch.”

He waved his gourd and gestured to the back of the shop.

“Go to the back and you’ll see a box of cheap masks like your life. Pick one, pay me, and fuck out of my shop you broke bitch.”

Akaza blinked in surprise at the words of the shop owner, and if he could, he would give the shop owner a thumbs up or even give the shop owner some money for cursing and spitting at Simon.

It felt satisfying to watch and hear.

He glanced at Simon, and he saw him indifferently looking at the wine stains on his shoes and the ground.

’Are you going to rage and attack him? He’s a Prime Archfiend, so you might be able to defeat him, but that’ll lead to a lot of problems for you.’

However, contrary to what Akaza wanted, Simon was calm and did not even react to the saliva washed wine.

He merely asked the same question again.

“How much are your cheapest masks?”

The shop owner glared at him with disgust behind his mask.

“Fucking five merits. Or is that still too much for you, broke bitch?”

Simon remained silent for a moment.

“I want to buy forty masks.”

“Just fucking go! Why the fuck are you still talking?! Haven’t I told- wait what? What did you just say?”

The shop owner who was shouting had a completely shocked expression then kment he registered what Simon just said.

Even Akaza had a stunned expression and could not help but look at Simon strangely.

’Forty masks? What does he need forty masks for?’

Simon did not bother repeating himself. He just kept on staring at the shop owner with his usual cold and indifferent eyes.

“Did you just say you want to buy forty masks?”

The shop owner asked, just to confirm on if he had heard correctly and if it was not the alcohol that was making him to hear things.

“I want to buy forty of your cheapest masks.” Simon clarified.

The shop owner’s eyes widened slightly, and he adjusted his sitting posture and the alcohol in his system seemingly vanished at the prospect of making more money than he expected.

He dropped his gourd of wine, and looked at Simon with a smile.

“Of course, esteemed customer.”

He rubbed his hands together, completely changing his tone and words in addressing Simon.

“I have forty masks to sell to you, but you should know that not all masks are priced at five merits. I don’t have so many cheap masks. But them-”

Without hesitation, Simon turned and walked toward the exit.

“Wait! Wait! Where are you going?”

The shop owner quickly got up and ran in front of Simon, blocking his way and preventing him from leaving.

Simon raised a brow. “What is it?”

The shop owner gritted his teeth, his partially opened mask showing the razor sharp teeth he had.

“Why are you leaving? I said I had forty masks.”

Simon indifferently nodded. “Yes, but I’m not spending more than two hundred merits.”

The shop owner was taken aback, and he clenched his hands in frustration and anger.

’Damn it. Why did I say five merits? I should have called a higher price. Fuck!’

The shop owner felt immense regret, but he didn’t give up in trying to make profit.

“I really don’t have up to forty masks that are worth five merits. Even if I put in other cheap masks, I’ll be making a loss at the end of the day?”

Simon’s gaze remained completely indifferent.

“I might have increased my budget, but after what you did, I’m not spending more than two hundred merits.”

He looked down at his shoes, and so did the shop owner.

“Fuck me.”

The shop owner cursed his foolishness out loud this time around, then he let out a sigh.

“Fine. I’ll sell forty masks to you for two hundred merits.”

He had no choice than to take a loss. He was seriously broke, and he had debts to pay.

Two hundred merits would seriously help him to cover some of his debts.

As for Simon, even if he knew this, he wouldn’t care one bit.

He indifferently nodded.

“Good.”

The shop owner let out a tired sigh as he looked down, and Simon’s next words made him to feel even more depressed.

“And make sure you bring a rag and a bowl of water to clean the wine you spat on me.”
