The usual chaos of the academy surrounded me as I was headed towards the headmaster’s office.

Thinking about the things I had been doing since coming to the academy, I knew I couldn’t proceed like this.

The academy wasn’t even my main point of interest. I had to attend it to create a cover for my identity while also making my words have weight in global politics.

This academy was, in some sorts, the heart of the world.

All the heirs to the most influential noble houses and major powers attended the academy, so it was the best place for me to create subtle control over everyone studying as well as teaching here.

There were many other motives behind attending the academy, but an issue had come to my notice.

Just staying at the academy was hindering my focus from D.X.

Though I had left it in Julien’s hands, and I trusted the guy to handle everything, there was a difference between maintenance and growth.

All the operations under Julien were indeed resulting in the growth of D.X., but the volume was still maintenance in my eyes.

The real objectives behind forming the organization had not been fulfilled yet, and to do that I had to be present there.

But the rules of Namda prevented me from doing anything of the sort.

I had to discuss the possibility of taking long leaves with the headmaster.

A teleportation passage was installed in the city of Namda after my visit to the Syma Royal Bank. I had given the required instructions to Julien, and the guy sure was efficient with his work.

A new branch of the bank was established along with a branch of the alchemy guild too.

I was sure that my actions were being watched by the headmaster.

He might have developed some suspicions about my relations with the bank and the alchemist guild, as immediately after my visit and the fund transfer from the bank, a new branch was opened here.

It had to be known that it was much more difficult to be allowed to open any sort of new business in the city of Namda.

The headmaster had placed various restrictions for anyone hoping to start a business here. And if some institution accepted such conditions without any negotiations, then that was bound to raise many issues.

That was why I had to make things clear before the headmaster.

It was better to inform him about my relations before he found out about them from other sources.

In any sort of cooperation or deal, trust between the parties was of utmost importance.

Once the trust was broken, there was no real benefit that could be derived from keeping half-hearted relations.

No matter what our current dynamics were, I was cautious of the headmaster.

Taking deep breaths, I tried to reduce my anxiety as I knocked on the door.

The headmaster gave a brief reply.

Pushing open the door, I was once again greeted by the same view.

He had the same easy-going smile as always, the one that he showcases to the world.

Not caring for formalities, I sat across from him, the chair creaking under my weight.

Nowadays I had often realized that the chairs around me kept making different noises.

I considered myself to be a healthy and well-built person with decent weight.

Attributing the noises to the poor quality of the chair, I shifted my focus to the man before me.

“How have you been, Headmaster?”

“You missed me?”

The headmaster raised his brows slightly.

“How could I not?”

I had a pleasing smile plastered over my face.

“So what’s the deal? I don’t see you visiting me out of nowhere just to check on this old man, though I wouldn’t mind the service.”

“No, no. You should mind it.”

I kept my face straight.

“Strange.”

The headmaster curiously looked at me, his eyes wandering over my body.

“What is it—”

“You seem different today. But I can’t sense any real difference in you. Hm?”

The headmaster paused as I stood up, took the chair in my hand, and shifted it a little farther away from the table.

It looked like the headmaster was heading in some undesired direction…

“I want some leaves.”

I got to the point, making myself comfortable on the chair.

“For?”

“Aren’t you my guardian?”

“That I am—”

“So give the permission.”

“Again, the reason—”

“I have business to attend to.”

The headmaster’s eyes never left mine as I voiced the words.

“Is it about that bank?”

I had just dropped a hint, but he had already deduced everything. Not that it was difficult to do so.

“For someone who had achieved a level of mana control that no one in history ever had. For someone you believe had a backer strong enough to hide from your probes, do you really think I wouldn’t know the spying that you had been doing on me?”

My voice was even as I stood up from my chair.

Approaching the table, I placed my hands on it before slightly leaning in the headmaster’s direction.

“Don’t mess with me.”

“I may not be as strong as you, but remember one thing—”

The headmaster’s gaze was fixed on me, his eyes showing none of his previous emotions.

“If you try anything funny, then only mutual destruction awaits us.”
