Chapter 91: Stamina?
Swoosh!
I could feel the hot air brushing against my body.
Opening my eyes… I was in a desert.
More precisely, my team was currently teleported into a desert. Below us, I could see a huge teleportation device, with the portal just closing behind.
And it wasn’t just us… As I scanned my surroundings, I could see many of the students were feeling a little dizzy.
A side effect of instant teleportation, but once you got used to it, the effect would reduce.
The interesting part was that there were no instructors around us. Before leaving, each student was given a smart bracelet that they had to wear on their wrists at all times.
It was to measure the kill counts. The bracelet also had the feature of showing the rankings of all groups, and an inbuilt protection shield.
We had been informed that if the bracelet detected an attack greater than what you could defend against, it would automatically activate a shield, thereby saving the given student’s life.
But the student would be eliminated, and the group would face a penalty.
The rules were basic, with the more kills you had, the greater your rank.
“There’s no point in standing here.”
Saying my part, I began to move in the north direction.
There was no specific reason for selecting north… Seeing me move, the others followed through.
Taking notice of our group, the other students began to show movement, and I could sense everyone moving out of the teleportation area.
“Will you be the leader?”
A feminine voice reached my ears as I was speeding up, with everyone running along.
I glanced at the girl but didn’t reply.
Seeing my silence as a confirmation, she kept quiet.
I thought my attitude would have irked her, but she displayed a surprising calmness without showing any hint of damage to her ego.
After all, she was a princess—
Vienna Elor, the first princess of House Elor, which was one of the major Elven houses in the world.
Diplomacy ran in the royal blood, so these individuals were the least likely to be offended by the actions of the people around them.
Being a Silver 1 ranker showed her potential.
Elves were generally more attuned to mana than the other races, as their race was considered the child of nature.
They had a greater affinity towards life mana, and hence had a decisive advantage in battles that were fought in the forest.
And our current location seemed to be the most disadvantageous for her, but looking at her face, I couldn’t see a single shred of anxiety.
Vienna was, after all, one of the heroines in the game, so she had to be strong to maintain such character presence.
There is this thing called the butterfly effect in most of the fantasy literature that was sold on Earth.
But my transmigration didn’t seem to create any kind of butterfly effect.
It had laid the way for the creation of a much larger effect, or one that I could call a Dragon effect.
Starting an organization like D.X. in itself had employed and controlled many villains, who could have wreaked havoc in the world and here at the academy.
My intervention had decreased those numbers to a near negligible level.
So all these female lead characters in the game had no real meaning in this world as far as I was concerned.
They had their uses in the game, as they were the main helpers for Noah, but now…
Their value had decreased in my mind.
Though I couldn’t deny their combat prowess. They were still some of the best fighters that history had ever witnessed.
After running for a few minutes, we had covered a mile or two.
As most of us were Silver cores, such distance wasn’t taxing on the body.
That was my first thought, but as I turned to look at my group, the situation was a bit different from what I expected.
The Extro, along with another boy, was lying on the ground panting like dogs.
I think they were supposed to be at the Bronze rank.
Even Diana and the Elven princess were taking deep breaths, though their condition was far better than the other two.
I might have overestimated their capabilities, or underestimated mine.
I think it was the latter, as my insane regeneration ability had increased my stamina to a far higher level than what a normal Silver ranker should be capable of.
“A-Are… ha… Are you even human?”
Vienna asked while gasping at the same time.
She was no longer maintaining her calm and composed appearance.
Glancing at Diana, I could see her face was pale, but she refrained from commenting.
“It wasn’t even a long run.”
Everyone had their eyes widened at my statement.
Hm?
I was simply stating the facts.
“And if you were that tired, you could have informed me earlier.”
“I had, but your ears were deaf to my request, as you just kept running like a… bull.”
Vienna raised her voice slightly, but noticing her behaviour, forced herself to calm down.
Was I too engrossed in my thinking?
Honestly, I didn’t really hear anything.
“And it wasn’t the distance that mattered, but the speed at which you were running! We had to overextend our mana just to keep up with you. And you know what the worst part feels like?! You didn’t even look like you were putting in any effort during the run!”
Clenching her fists, Vienna raised them to show her frustration.
She looked quite adorable in that pose, but I wasn’t someone who fell for such things.
People who liked girls doing what they called these girly things… I just think those were idiots with no rational thoughts.
“Hey, listen!”
Vienna stepped closer to me, raising her index finger to my eye level.
“I know you are stronger than me… stronger than everyone in this year! But that doesn’t give you the right to humiliate me, you get that!”
“…”
Wasn’t she supposed to be a calm and collected princess?
Did every character’s personality have such deviations from the game, or was this kid an exception?
