Chapter 54: Punctuality
Since Kael left the banquet three years ago, Alia had sent several people in search of him to bring him back.
But to her dismay, she didn’t find him anywhere.
It was surprising that so many people couldn’t discover a single kid in their own empire.
Alia wanted to make an empire-wide or possibly world-wide official announcement in search of Kael, but Castor stopped her from doing it.
He didn’t want the empire to think that he had forgiven Kael for his disrespect towards the Veltran Royal Family. Also, making such an announcement would make them look weaker in the eyes of their enemies.
For Castor, showing such weakness was unforgivable.
The only saving grace was that, through some methods exclusive to the noble houses, they knew that Kael was still alive.
That was the only thing that had kept Alia stable till date. Otherwise, she would have broken down a long time ago.
As Kael had not returned to the mansion for all these years, Alia had taken that as a sign of his refusal to meet them.
And that thought had made her stop all her efforts to search for him.
She still didn’t know how Kael was able to stay hidden despite being searched for by some of the most elite people in the world.
There were no traces of him to be found anywhere.
It was like he had disappeared from existence.
This was something that had taken Castor’s attention. Usually, he wouldn’t add anything to the efforts made by Alia to search for their son. Not only that, but he wasn’t even interested in any findings related to him.
Many thought Castor simply didn’t care for a rogue child.
One day, while talking about some important matters related to the dukedom, one of Castor’s loyal followers informed him about the results of the findings…
And hearing about them made Castor suspicious.
For Kael to stay hidden from people professional in their field of tracking was…
Someone was helping Kael, and clearly it was someone strong.
It had to be noted that the means available at the hands of the Frosts to search for an individual were so high-level that no one under the Immortal rank could avoid detection.
At the Immortal and higher ranks, a person practically merged with nature itself, which made searching or spying on such individuals much more difficult and nearly impossible for most powerhouses.
So the person or the entity behind Kael… was it a plot against the Frost?
Using his son against him?
It was a standard strategy which many people employed to weaken their enemies before going for the real strike.
Still…
Castor didn’t fully believe his own theory. The people sent to track Kael were indeed elites, but they weren’t the best that the Frosts had.
The absolute best were under Castor’s command, and neither Alia nor any of the other Frosts could use them.
Alia knew that, and she tried to manage everything with the power she had at her disposal.
At the end of the day, she respected her husband.
Though not using the full extent of the power under the Frosts, Castor had still allowed her to search for Kael using basic, primitive means.
And Alia was satisfied with that… at least she had to be content with the current situation when she felt that her son had no desire to return—seeing him go to the extent of keeping himself hidden from them for all these years.
“Look up, they have arrived.”
Castor’s words brought Alia back to reality.
Two individuals could be seen approaching them.
“Be quick, the exam will start soon!” Alia waved her hand, urging them to hurry.
Castor just sighed in response.
As the youngsters approached the teleportation passage, Alia stepped forward to hug the blonde girl before her.
Alicia reciprocated the gesture with a faint smile.
Kevin stood at his place, bowing a little in the direction of his father.
Castor replied with a small nod.
Kevin had the same signature features of the Frosts—black hair and an even darker shade of black eyes complementing them.
Alicia, on the other hand, was the only one among the Frost youngsters who had blonde hair like her mother. She did inherit the black eyes of the Frosts, but her hair made Castor name her after Alia.
Alicia—the word had the same warm feeling for Castor as did the name of his wife.
“Did you pack everything?”
Alia asked.
Before Alicia could speak, “Keep your distance from other boys. And tell Kevin if you need anything. I had asked Victoria to help the two of you, but still take care of yourself. And—”
“Yes, mother, I get that. I am not a child, so stop nitpicking about everything.”
Alicia knew her mother’s list of advice wouldn’t end anytime soon, so she had to take the initiative.
Kevin didn’t interrupt their conversation.
One part being that he wanted Alicia to bid a proper farewell, and the other…
Kevin didn’t want to attract the ’never-ending-be-careful’ attention of his mother.
Castor, just like Kevin, waited patiently for Alia to end her farewell.
Hearing Alicia’s not-so-loving reply, Alia gave a small pout before focusing her attention on Kevin.
“…”
Kevin had a neutral expression on his face.
“You too be careful of the girls there. I had heard they even drug young lords and—”
“I will remember it, mother. And how about we leave for the academy now?
Surely you don’t want us to be late for the test.”
Hearing about the test, Alia returned to her previous demeanour.
“Why hasn’t the passage been started yet? And you two, add some punctuality to your schedules. How can someone be so late on such an important day?!”
“…”
“…”
“…”
’There’s still an hour left,’ was what everyone wanted to say, but the words were stuck in their throats, never leaving their mouths.
No one wanted to start another lecture before even the academy began.
Kevin regretted mentioning the test.
He tried his best to ignore Alicia’s gaze, which didn’t seem to end anytime soon.
