Vanessa, Lilith, Kelly, and Ann stepped through the rusted metal doorway, their boots echoing on the cracked concrete as they entered the old warehouse.

The air inside was heavy. Thick. Reeking of smoke and burnt oil. A low haze hung just below the ceiling, making everything slightly hazy, like the room was permanently trapped in an old, yellowed memory.

Ann wrinkled her nose immediately, raising a hand to cover her face. “Ugh,” she muttered. “This place smells like it hasn’t been cleaned since the war.”

Kelly glanced sideways and smirked. “It probably hasn’t.”

Vanessa didn’t say a word, but her jaw was clenched. She didn’t like the smell either. Her face had that tight, controlled expression she wore whenever she was trying not to gag.

Only Lilith and Kelly seemed unbothered. Neither of them smoked, but both of them had spent years in the kind of circles where men chain-smoked through every conversation and ashtrays were a part of the décor. This wasn’t new to them.

Ann leaned closer to Vanessa and whispered, “How long are we staying here?”

Vanessa didn’t answer right away. She was already scanning the room ahead, her eyes narrowing.

“Not long,” she said shortly.

The reason for her sudden tone was obvious. Five men had started walking toward them from the darker end of the warehouse, half-hidden by the stacks of crates and broken equipment.

All five were holding cigarettes. Smoke curled from their fingers, their mouths, their clothes. They were dressed like dock workers or low-level smugglers—greasy tank tops, loose jeans, leather belts. None of them looked dangerous in the traditional sense, but that didn’t matter. Their eyes told a different story.

Hungry. Desperate. Vulgar.

And every single one of them had their gaze fixed directly on the four women walking toward the center of the space.

Mostly on Vanessa.

“Damn,” one of them muttered as he let his eyes drag down her tight jeans and up her black top. “Look at that ass…”

“Shit, I’d sell my left nut for five minutes with her,” another said, laughing.

“Which one you want?” a third asked. “I call dibs on the one in the back. The one with the ponytail.”

They were loud on purpose. No effort to hide it. They wanted the women to hear.

Vanessa’s eyes didn’t flinch. She kept walking. But Ann, walking just behind her, grimaced and leaned toward Lilith.

“Tell me we’re not going to be here long for real.”

Lilith didn’t answer Ann.

She was already glaring at the men.

One of them stepped a little closer, puffing out his chest. “Nice tits, sweetheart,” he said with a grin, his eyes locked on Vanessa like she was a menu item. “You lost or something?”

Lilith’s voice was cold and quiet. “Fuck off.”

That alone made two of the men chuckle. The one in front leaned over and looked at his buddy. “Oh shit,” he said mockingly. “Did you hear that? Little miss dark eyes here thinks she’s scary.”

The other one whistled, stepping closer now. “She needs someone to teach her some manners.”

Ann’s jaw tightened. Kelly didn’t move, but her eyes narrowed just slightly, and her hand brushed near her hip, where her concealed blade was tucked.

The leader of the five, a taller man with tattoos crawling up his arms and a cigarette dangling from his lips, grinned wide as he took a slow drag and exhaled directly in their direction.

“You bitches lost?” he asked. “’Cause this ain’t no beauty salon. Usually when four pieces of fine meat show up at once, it means we’re about to get lucky.”

He looked over all of them again, slowly. His tongue ran over his teeth like he was starving.

“We usually don’t get visits from women like you,” he added, voice low and slimy. “But when we do… we make sure they leave satisfied. It’s only fair.”

Ann raised an eyebrow. “Satisfied?” Her voice was unimpressed.

“Yeah,” one of the other guys stepped forward, practically licking his lips. “You didn’t come all the way here ’cause you’re lost. You came here to fulfill a fantasy.”

He moved closer to Ann, leaning in like he was about to whisper some sweet lie into her ear.

“A fantasy of getting fucked by a bunch of lowlifes.”

Lilith suddenly laughed.

It wasn’t a chuckle.

It was a full, stomach-clenching laugh.

She bent slightly at the waist, covering her mouth with her hand as her shoulders shook. Her laugh echoed across the wide, empty warehouse.

The men all blinked.

Even Vanessa looked over her shoulder, confused.

Lilith straightened, wiping a fake tear from her eye. “Oh, wow,” she said through her laughter. “You boys really thought…”

She waved a hand at them, shaking her head. “You thought we came here… for that?”

The leader squinted, his grin twitching. “The hell’s so funny?”

Lilith took a deep breath and shrugged. “I’ll let you go. If you turn around right now.”

The men stared.

Then the leader scoffed. “What if we don’t?”

Lilith cracked her neck to the side and stepped forward. Her eyes turned cold again, the playful smirk vanishing like it was never there.

“Then I might break a few bones,” she said flatly.

That made all five of them laugh now. Deep, hearty, mocking laughter.

The one with the tattoos slapped his knee. “You hear that? Bluffing little damsel thinks she’s scary.”

Another one added, “Maybe we should see if she moans just as much as she talks.”

One of the five men moved.

Fast. Aggressive.

Without a word, he lunged forward and grabbed for Vanessa’s chest, his hand aiming directly for her breast like it was his property.

He didn’t even see it coming.

Vanessa’s eyes hardened instantly. No flinch. No scream. Just pure reflex. She caught his wrist mid-air and twisted it sharply with one smooth motion.

Crack.

The man grunted in pain, his eyes going wide at the sudden force. He hadn’t expected someone so pretty to have a grip like steel. But he recovered quickly. With his other hand, he slipped a small folding knife from his pocket and slashed it upward in a fast arc.

Vanessa jumped back.

The blade barely missed her ribs, slicing the air where she’d just been standing.

Before she could counter, a hand slid in front of her stomach, blocking her from stepping forward.

It was Lilith.

She didn’t say a word. Her eyes were fixed on the man with the knife now. She stepped in front of Vanessa calmly, her face unreadable.

The man blinked in confusion, but then he smiled and licked his lips again, sizing her up like she was an expensive dessert.

“You don’t need to worry,” he said, raising his blade slightly. “I’ll try not to ruin that pretty little face.”

Lilith raised her hand slowly and made a simple, challenging gesture—fingers curling in.

The man didn’t hesitate. He lunged again, slashing wild, his knife aiming low this time toward her stomach. It was the kind of reckless move you’d expect from someone who never fought trained opponents before—no stance, no control, just speed and desperation.

Lilith shifted back with ease, the blade cutting through nothing but air. She tilted her head slightly as her fingers began to chill, cold mist starting to rise around her wrist.

But before she could release her ice, a hand gently caught her arm.

Lilith turned, ready to snap—but stopped.

Kelly.

She was smiling softly, not the least bit worried. “Let me try,” Kelly said.

Lilith blinked. “What?”

Even Ann raised a brow. “Kelly, are you serious?”

Vanessa looked confused too. “You don’t have powers.”

Kelly simply smiled again, that same calm, unreadable expression on her flawless face. “I don’t need powers for this.”

Then she reached for her waist and drew a slim, curved blade—longer than a pocket knife, shorter than a machete. She spun it once between her fingers, the movement smooth and practiced, the blade flashing in the dirty warehouse light.

All three girls stared.

Kelly wasn’t just carrying a knife.

She knew how to use it.

Lilith’s brow arched slightly. Vanessa was silent. Ann looked… impressed.

Kelly glanced toward the man who had tried to slice Vanessa open. “You want a dance partner?” she said calmly. “Let’s dance.”

The man didn’t even pause. He was cocky. Overconfident. A woman with with just a knife?

He roared and came at her, blade raised toward her throat.

His mistake.

Kelly didn’t move at first.

Then, as his blade reached the arc of its swing, she dipped backward with a sudden fluidity that stunned the others. Her body bent like a ribbon of silk—her spine arched so low her head nearly brushed the floor. The blade whooshed past inches above her.

The man stumbled forward, off balance from the wild miss.

Kelly moved.

She twisted upright like a snap spring and brought her blade across the man’s back with a clean, horizontal slash.

“Aahhh!” he screamed, spinning around with blood pouring from the cut across his back. His knife clattered to the ground.

Kelly stood with perfect posture, the tip of her blade red. “Never turn your back on your enemy,” she said with a casual shrug.

The man’s mouth twisted in pain and fury. “Don’t lecture me, bitch!”

He dove for her again, ignoring the pain, hands open now like he wanted to grab and slam her instead of slash.

Kelly didn’t even blink.

She pivoted on one foot and kicked him square in the knee. His leg buckled instantly, and he dropped to the floor with a snarl.

“First mistake,” she said.

He tried to reach for her leg—she stomped his wrist.

Crunch.

“Second mistake.”

She flipped the knife once in her hand, then pressed the flat of the blade against his throat, not cutting, just pressing.

The man froze.

Behind her, Lilith crossed her arms. “Well… damn,” she muttered.

Vanessa stared in silence. Ann just looked stunned.

Kelly turned slightly to the other four men, who were no longer laughing. Not even grinning. They were just watching her now—cautious.

“Anyone else want to dance?” she asked, voice calm, blade still shining with fresh blood.

The others didn’t move.

The leader, the tall one with the tattoos, clenched his jaw.

“She’s just one person,” he growled. “You think that scares us?”

Vanessa finally stepped forward again. Her hand still hovered near her baton. “You’re making this hard for yourselves.”

The men didn’t back down. At least not yet.

But the balance had shifted.

They weren’t predators anymore. They were thinking twice. Calculating.

Kelly smiled again, not looking at them, just cleaning the blood off her knife with a cloth she pulled from her pocket.

Lilith stepped beside her. “If you’re done,” she said, voice low, “I’d like to finish the rest.”

Kelly sheathed her blade and nodded. “They’re all yours.”
