Chapter 278: The Drama in the Anderson’s Mansion

Halle looked at Claus coldly.

He was Horton’s father, Emily’s grandfather. Halle should show respect to him, as a well-educated junior. But at this moment, she couldn’t.

“Ms. Holt, aren’t you overreacting? If this child is not biologically related to Horton, then how do you explain the result of this paternity test?”

Claus gazed at the agreement on the table.

Halle knew it was a paternity test agreement but she didn’t dare to say.

The Holts were in dire straits. Halle was only a divorced woman without any power. She might come to the Hutts and ask for anything she wanted if the kid lived with her.

Claus thought that Halle did not make a move only because Horton had not lived up to her ambition. When Horton became the head of the family, Halle would use Emily as a bargaining chip to ask for more.

Claus’s face instantly turned grim. He would have to keep Halle away from Horton, and couldn’t allow the child to be a stumbling block for Horton and the Hutts.

Halle clenched her fists tightly until she crushed her nails into her palms and felt a burst of pain. Only then did she have a clear mind.

“I don’t know what the point of the agreement is.

“Whether Horton is Emily’s biological father makes no difference to me. I am not from a rich and eminent family, but I will never make use of my daughter to beg for your money.”

Halle coldly glanced at the folder on the table. She knew that it contained the DNA report of Horton and Emily.

Halle realized that Claus must have been clear about Emily’s identity since he had asked to see her.

She had been living warily with Emily in the countryside these years, keeping Emily’s identity secret. And now she felt relaxed.

“You want Horton to marry you? I am benevolent enough to keep the kid in my family. She will become Ms. Hutt.”

Claus said in a low voice, but his words were full of arrogance and disdain. Halle gave an ironic smile. “Not for Emily.”

She didn’t show respect to anyone except the members of the Keys and the Andersons, who were on good terms with the Marleys!

Claus said, “Ask Horton to go out with Miss Marley tomorrow.”

Halle came out of the clubhouse. It was raining.

Halle smiled and called a taxi.

Hilla said worriedly. Halle smiled faintly and said, “Camilla asked me to buy something with her. I didn’t find it was late. I’ll go back immediately.”

Hearing this, Hilla heaved a sigh of relief and asked gently, “Emily is already asleep. Do you need me to pick you up?”

Halle knew that Hilla would send the driver over, so she quickly said, “No. I’m in the car. I’ll be home soon.”

Halle hung up the phone and looked out the window again. She seemed to see a familiar figure standing at the door of a pet store.
