Chapter 296: The Smell of Adultery
The black Land Rover stopped in front of an alley.
This was one of the few slums in the suburbs of River City. Most residents here were workers at the bottom of the social ladder.
Lori’s apartment was already among the best in this area.
The shops and grocery stores nearby were still opened while a group of workers just got off work. The road was crowded.
The expensive Land Rover was very eye-catching in this place.
Many people looked at it with envy.
Lori nervously sat in the car as it pulled over.
Before she could speak, the man in the driver’s seat said coldly, “You can get out of the car.”
Lori looked down and pursed her lips. She repressed her disappointment and softly said, “Alright.”
He was going to leave her alone to walk back through this long alley.
Lori opened the door and slowly got out of the car. She gripped the suit tightly.
The weather had become warmer and this alley was heated up by clamor. There was no wind in the air.
There were many street vendors selling snacks. Lori got out of the car and saw Bruce followed her.
She was slightly stunned and saw Bruce walking towards a small stall.
Lori was still hot and fatigue from the wine. She leaned on the door and almost fell as her feet landed on the ground.
She watched as the man walked past the stalls and bought many snacks.
The expensive suit and the remarkable temperament extinguished him from the crowd.
No matter where he stood, Lori was able to spot him at a glance.
Young girls passing by all looked at Bruce.
Who could ignore him, dressed in designer clothes, in this alley?
He was like the sun in the sky that everything in the galaxy, from planets to grains, should revolve around him.
Bruce waited for the vendor to bring up the snacks. He frowned as if dislike the smell. But he stood there patiently all the same.
Lori stood not far away and watched as Bruce carried large and small bags of snacks and walked back.
Most people would be in a sorry state when carrying so many things, but he looked as elegant and composed as usual.
He shined in her eyes. He walked gracefully on this old and narrow street and paid no attention to the men and women passing by.
It was not until Bruce stood in front of her that Lori woke up from her fantasy.
She looked at Bruce with bright eyes and smiled, “I didn’t expect that you would like these snacks.”
She grew up in an orphanage and was good at reading people’s thoughts.
When Bruce stood in front of those stalls, he didn’t even look at the snacks.
Obviously, it was not him who liked to eat these.
Then he bought…
“My wife likes them.”
Bruce replied casually and put the snacks into the car.
Then he handed a glass of milk to Lori.
“Is this… for me?”
Lori had not yet recovered from “my wife likes them” when she saw a glass of warm milk in front of her.
She stood there dumbfoundedly.
“You have drunk wine.”
Bruce replied casually. Lori smiled sweetly. She did not expect that he would be so considerate.
Lori carefully took the glass, holding it in her hand.
It was the sweetest milk Lori had ever drunk. On this hot summer night, she felt warm and sweet in her heart.
“Thank you.”
Lori said with a red face and slowly took a sip.
She and Sissy often bought the milk tea from the same shop, but now she found their milk was tastier.
“Which building do you live in?”
Bruce glanced at the houses on both sides of the alley. His eyes did not show any emotion.
He did not show displeasure or disdain for the shabby place where Lori lived.
Lori pointed to a five-story building not far away. Her face turned redder because of shyness.
However, Bruce did not look at her. He walked straight in the direction and said, “Let’s go!”
Lori held the milk with one hand and grabbed the suit in the other, and quickly followed.
Downstairs.
Lori looked at Bruce and said gratefully, “Thank you, Mr. Anderson.”
“If you don’t want, you don’t have to attend such banquets in the future.”
Bruce spoke abruptly. Lori was stunned and looked up at this expressionless man.
Although Bruce was not gentle as before, Lori understood what he meant.
He was telling her that she did not have to drink with those men again.
Bruce looked cold and aloof but was in fact kind and considerate.
Lori nodded. Seeing that Bruce was about to leave, she quickly said, “Mr. Anderson, the new orphanage has just been built. The director wants to hold an open ceremony on the first Sunday of next month. The director and children all hope that you can attend. Do you have time?”
“Sure!” Bruce did not hesitate. Then he turned around and left.
Lori looked at his back and said with a smile, “Then we will wait for you.”
…
It took Hilla a long time to wait for the babies to fall asleep. Only then did she rub her sore shoulders and enter the bathroom.
Although the Anderson family had hired servants, she preferred to take care of the babies on her own.
Ever since she had her own children, Hilla understood how much Halle loves Emily.
Even though she was exhausted every day, she was happy.
She used to think that she was a child, but now she felt that being a mother was really not easy.
After taking a shower, Hilla went to the bed. As soon as she lay down, a pair of strong arms wrapped her waist from behind and pulled her over.
Startled, Hilla turned and saw the man hidden under the quilt.
Bruce was still wearing a shirt. He looked unusually serious.
“When did you come back? Why are you here?”
Bruce turned over and pressed Hilla under his body, leaning his head to her.
He puffed his breath on Hilla’s face and said in a low voice, “I have just come back. Miss you!”
Before Hilla could speak, Bruce lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.
Hilla was stunned and instinctively wanted to push him away.
However, after a second thought, she slowly moved her hands upwards from Bruce’s chest to wrap around his neck.
Bruce was encouraged and deepened the kiss. The branches trembled in the wind as if sniggering at them.
Hilla smelled an unusual flavor on Bruce…
…
Hilla was held tightly in Bruce’s arms, and their breath entangled.
At first, she rejected him rationally, but later, she also indulged in the desire.
Bruce kissed her cheek and the tip of her nose, inch by inch, then her neck and delicate collarbone.
A wisp of haze rose from the scented candle, dispersed in the warm light of the bedroom, and wrapped around them.
Hilla opened her lips with difficulty as if her breath had been drawn away.
Feeling that his hands slowly reach her back, Hilla finally grabbed his arm.
“You haven’t showered yet, no…”
Before Hilla could finish, Bruce covered her mouth.
Hilla whimpered, then grabbed his hands harder and said, “There’s a smell on you.”
As she spoke, she picked up Bruce’s hand and sniffed it. Then, she narrowed her eyes and revealed a serious look, “You dined out without telling me.”
Bruce was amused. He nodded and said gently, “I’ve packed up the food. Do you want to have some?”
Hilla rolled her eyes and snorted. She raised her chin arrogantly, “I will never eat the leftovers.”
“Are there Scotch eggs, apple pie, and pepperoni?”
After claiming that she will not eat the leftovers, Hilla curiously inquired about what he brought back.
Bruce’s smile broadened. He nodded and pinched her soft cheeks, but the feeling was too good that he couldn’t help but stroked her face until the flush on her face spread to her neck.
He let go of her face unwillingly, and said in a hoarse voice, “There are also BBQ skewers, soufflé, and a cup of milk tea.”
“Bruce, I love you!”
Hilla held Bruce’s face excitedly and kissed him on the cheek.
Bruce was stunned.
He touched his cheek and felt he wanted more.
Seeing that Hilla pushed him away and was about to get out of bed, Bruce stretched out his arms and pulled her back, bending down to kiss her.
Hilla was caught off guard. She only felt that this kiss was completely different from the kiss just now. It was even more hot and breathy and affectionate.
Hilla couldn’t resist it at all. Her hands tightly grasped the clothes on Bruce’s chest.
When she felt that she was about to suffocate, Bruce suddenly stopped.
Bruce leaned on Hilla’s shoulder and took a deep breath.
He suppressed the desire but his voice was still hoarse with lust.
“It’s not good to eat too much at night. Ask Margaret and Halle to eat with you.”
Hilla laughed. It seemed that Bruce had bought far more than the few things he had mentioned.
She currently breastfed the babies, so she shouldn’t eat much of the snacks.
But it would be good if she could just take a bite of each kind.
Therefore, Hilla bear -hugged Bruce and kissed him on the face again. She said in a sugary tone, “Got it, hubby.”
Bruce looked at her beautiful face and felt the soft kiss on his face. His desire rose again.
Bruce’s expression changed, but he did not detain her any longer. He said with difficulty, “Okay.” And then he lied down on the bed and let Hilla go.
Hilla jumped off the bed and rushed out of the room.
As she ran, she chuckled like a little child.
Bruce put an arm on his forehead to block the light. Thinking of Hilla’s proud little face, he couldn’t help but reveal a broad smile, which was full of love.
In the living room.
Three women were sitting around the sofa, and the coffee table in front of them was full of snacks.
Margaret felt lucky that she had decided to stay at home these days.
Before Hilla said something, she had already impatiently opened a box of barbecue skewers.
“Although Bruce is usually stingy, he is generous to buy food for Hilla.”
“As the saying goes, if you want to win a woman’s heart, you have to fill her stomach. My brother is really good at this.”
Margaret said as she scanned the delicious food.
It was said that one would easily gain weight if one eats at night. And generally speaking, most girls wanted to keep fit.
But these three did not care at all since they already had boyfriends or husbands.
“A little fish in a small puddle would die once the water evaporated; a human being with no ambition is not different from that.”
Halle spoke unhurriedly. Margaret was stunned. She looked at Halle and then Hilla with a frown.
“Halle, I know you are well-educated. But are you sure you want to show off at this moment?”
Margaret angrily swallowed a mouthful of meat.
The spicy and delicious taste stimulated her taste buds. Margaret restored her good mood and asked casually, “What does that mean?”
Hilla pricked a slice of sausage, but she wasn’t in a hurry to put it in her mouth. Instead, she explained to Margaret, “What’s the difference between a human being with no ideals and a pig?”
Margaret stopped eating and looked at the two sisters in disbelief.
Halle paraphrased such a simple idea into a long sentence difficult to grasp. Was that the purpose of education?
Why couldn’t she put it as simple as Hilla did?
However, she didn’t have the mood to ridicule Halle. Instead, she looked at Hilla and smiled, “Hilla is now the ideal of Bruce.”
Hilla was the target of a wolf. She could not escape now.
Hilla hadn’t grasped Halle’s implication at first. Now Margaret said it out, Hilla immediately blushed.
Seeing that, Margaret couldn’t help but laugh.
“Hilla, are you showing off your happy life with Bruce?”
Margaret was getting excited and was not sleepy at all.
Especially the spicy roasted meat totally refreshed her.
Hilla had to breastfeed the babies so she dared not eat much. The rest was all consumed by Halle and Margaret.
Margaret had always been a glutton, but Hilla had never seen her sister eat so much before.
When they were about to finish, they saw Bruce go downstairs in his pajamas.
Margaret smiled when she saw Bruce.
She said in a crisp voice,
“Brother, where did you buy all these? They taste really good.”
Since getting married, Bruce was getting better and better at pleasing Hilla!
Bruce replied casually. Margaret immediately frowned. She seemed to have heard of this address before. Wasn’t it the place where Lori lived?
Immediately, the barbecue was no longer tasty, and she stuffed the last piece of cake in her hand back into the bag.
Then she rolled her eyes to Bruce and said in a mocking tone, “Bruce, there is a smell on you.”
The smelled of adultery!
