Bruce would not tell Hilla that he would wait for her to come back. This had become his habit. Sometimes he just stayed on the balcony. Sometimes, he wandered around for a whole day, just to wait for her car to appear at the intersection not far away.

After waiting so many times, he seemed to even remember how long it would take for her to return to the room. He never missed a second.

She had stood at the door for at least five minutes just now. There were only two reasons why Hilla didn’t push the door open. She didn’t want to see him, or she had something hidden and didn’t know how to face him.

Hilla poked out of the quilt and stared at the glasses, asking, “What is this?”

Margaret’s eyes lit up when she saw Hilla. A big smile appeared on her face as she said, “Tonics.”

Hilla recalled that Orlenna said two days ago that she wanted to nurse her body so that Hilla could give birth to a healthy baby. Hilla immediately covered her mouth

and shook her head violently, “Can I refuse?”

“Mom told you to drink, and Bruce also has it!”

So these two bowls were not all hers. The other was Bruce’s.
