Chapter 215: Why am I op?
When I heard about how powerful these monsters truly are I thought it was their exaggeration. Monsters that can either be scaled to the power of a mini-boss were roaming everywhere we go. If it weren’t for the speed of the behemoth we would’ve been caught by these monsters. Finishing our expedition is a must I know that as well, but since these monsters won’t stop in their tracks. I might as well have a short review of my power and a little match to test the limit of my current vessel
[Appraisal: Multiple enemies have been detected twenty [Skulltipede’s LVL 20] fifteen [Reanmiated dead LVL 15] eight [Shadow jackal’s LVL 35]
Warning: They’re too much for you to handle, the estimated power of these monsters is below the user. But they far surpass the power of your soldiers, you should avoid any acts kind of encounter with these monsters. Their stats can be found to be more than equal or stronger to that of a mini-boss and should be avoided
Additional information: These monsters have long been mutated by demonic energy and they now came to be a different breed. Their bodies have adjusted to the nature of their newly gained power and influence. Theirs a small chance they’ll see you as their ruler but with your current level it’s mostly a 0.1% chance of success]
“Behemoth I order you to move even whilst im not present in the carriage,” He jumps from the carriage, and a pair of black wings appeared on his back. Airis followed him after she takes the form of a bat and the two soar into the skies. They left the familiars on board if anything were to occur and they set off on their journey in eradicating those brave enough to bare their fangs
[System: You’ve activated one of the functions belonging to the golem [Diabolus ex machina]
[Dreadful wings]: Have granted the player the ability to fly and its sub-abilities will now be functional]
’Diabolus is currently sleeping, I can’t call for his assistance but I found something peculiar. I can use most of the functions but those that need him to be present are currently locked. Most of the antagonizing skills need his presence and I can sense that this form is rather weak. It seems without his presence his functions are downgraded to a certain extent,’
Monsters straight out of an average person’s nightmare, spine-chilling, horrific-looking, and most of all intimidating strength. All of these combined stood as a towering wall that came to be an obstacle that’s unbeatable for most people. Yet they weren’t a match for a devilish existence such as a demon king. He descends from the skies and crushes anything in his sight
“It seems you don’t require some assistance, since you’re quite excited about your body I’ll leave you be. I’ll handle a few of the ones approaching your vicinity, and make sure that you earn a lot of experience points. You’re the one who asked me to lower my obsession, be sure that you can protect yourself oh great demon king,” Airis called for the activation of her skill and it sends out a blinding black mist
[System: [Rosalie the vampire queen] has activated her skill [Black mist]: The area around the caster will be engulfed in a blinding black most. Dark attribute races are given a 20% boost in all of their stats. When a vampire is within this field they’ll gain an additional 10% boost]
[Dark attribute]: Any race thats been plagued with the divinity known as “Demonic energy”
Status ailment: (Obscure) Decreases 40% of any hostile creatures vision inside the vicinity of Black mist
Rank: S
Cost: 60 corrupted mana or corrupted chi
Duration: 30 minutes]
Their entire field of view was surrounded by a black most and yet their visions weren’t affected. The monsters that lurked were in disarray upon having one of their senses have vanished from their disposal. But they quickly adapted and used their heightened sense of hearing as their eyes. Slowly they could hear the sounds of flapping and a second later was nothing but silence
“Grrrrrrrrhhh,” They remained in their position not knowing the location of their prey, and they began to take a step. Shortly after they heard a sound and the next thing they found to have changed was the smell of blood. This scent spread far and wide and these monsters have discerned their situation to its fullest outcome
“Do you guys wanna see the beautiful sky? If so then how about we have a little trip,” This was the first sound they’d ever heard, and before they knew it a powerful surge of mana came bursting from the ground. It pushes the monsters upward with a force that repels anything that touches the ground. Afloat in the sky, they met a figure with a pair of black wings and a weapon made from the shadows itself
“Downward repulsion strike, and now I’ll add Darkness manipulation… Change the shape of my shadow and turn what I offer into a weapon of mass destruction,” A spear was born from his shadow and a weapon that suffices his current winged state. His wings changed and they turn into a pair of thrusters that has the same sound as what the monsters have heard. He slowly charges and it soon became silent as the time the monsters notice the spilled blood of their comrades
[System: The player has activated the 2nd option of the winged state
(Option 2) Dreadful thrusters: By sacrificing more than 50% of the feathers in each pair of the dreadful wings you can enter the thruster state. Within the thruster state, the player will become faster than their previous form known as the winged state. The thruster state will grant extra mobility, speed, and a special ability called Sky piercer
[Sky piercer]: After a short period of charging the thrusters will perform an aerial dash at a speed where it can be redirected. Whilst this skill is currently in play the player will have a boost in his crit rate and crit damage. There’s a 30% chance of gaining penetration when you’ve activated this skill. Penetration will disappear upon landing the first enemy to be struck
Charging phase: 10 seconds
Penetration: Ignores 40% of the target’s defense]
He released the charging phase and he dashes through the air with an unbelievable burst of speed. He sends a powerful swing of his spear and he slashes the thick and durable bones of the living corpse. Compared to their outward appearances these bones have a conscience and their defenses were second to him. He continuously charges against their bodies until every single piece of bone was reduced to a speck of dust
[System: The player has killed a monster, the collected experience will now be given
Calculating: The player has gained 2500 exp!!! The player’s current body has leveled up from 0 -> 2]
’I knew it, even with all of these numbers I’ve collected I only leveled up by two. It seems that my stats are just that high, this body is greedy for experience points. If im not wrong even a murder spree will only get me to five levels. If so then I might as well start a fucking genocide if ever want to reach level 60,’
Once he was finished dealing with the lower-level monsters, the ones he wasn’t able to finish crash-landed back to the ground. The impact pushes away the nearby mist and they can perfectly see his body hovering through the eerie-looking sky. They retaliated by sending out their line range attacks where the centipede shoot outs its scales. The shadow jackals fired a volley of spells and he was met with a rain of spells and projectiles in the mix
“Well, well, well, looks like you guys are finally getting serious about our fight. Too bad that you’re a little too late… You shouldn’t have given me the time I needed and just fire right alike at me madman,” He releases the charging phase and enters sky piercer once more, and dodges the attacks of his enemies
The amount and speed of their attacks were something that he couldn’t possibly have exited whilst being untouched. Though their brief rest cost them their lives and he manages to outmaneuver every single one of their attacks. His wings didn’t take any sort of damage and he descends like a predator that aims for the lives of his prey
“Sky-piercing demonic thrust!!!” With the momentum, he gained from the power of his current state he pushes forth in his battle. The first that struck his spear was that of the body of the skulltipede which had its scales broken by the sheer volume of his strength. The other monster took this as a chance to win and they rallied to launch an attack on every side and seal him in their trap
“Fools, do you think that’s enough? Hehehehehe, you take me for a weakling even though you’re using numbers to restrain me? I’ll show you the fullest extent of these wings latched onto my back,” A glimmer of light sparked inside the cage made by the monsters that targeted his life
[System: The player has chosen to activate the function [Overdrive]: Once activated will increase the power of the chosen function by 50% with the use of demonic energy
Mutation: If the required amount of demonic energy far exceeds its required amount the chosen function will mutate
Additional information: Do note that a mutation of a function is temporary and can only last about 10 minutes
Cost: 70 corrupted mana or chi (Can be exceeded if the player desires to mutate)
Cooldown: 72 hours]
The black mist completely disappears and this caught the attention of Airis that’s killing the excess amount of monsters. She notices a gust of powerful wind that knocks every monster from a certain area near her position. At the center of the powerful gust stood a horrific pair of wings and a long black spear wielded by a single individual. A single movement cost the whole ground to shake and the skies turn upside down
[I didn’t think this will be the capacity of the demonic energy that your current body posses]
He floats on top of dozens of corpses belonging to what the demons have spoken to be monsters. However, to him, they were only a bunch of food that awaits its predator and he came out as the victor. That’s when he realizes a single issue that he couldn’t shake as soon as he thought about his predicament
’If the Demon King was this powerful how come it lost in my story? How strange, with this power it could’ve easily won over and conquered the other nations. Perhaps is there a mystery that hasn’t been disclosed, maybe another appearance of an anomaly? Whatever it is, I’ll make sure that I won’t let it affect my story, if I can’t avoid it then I can only choose to destroy it,’
([Truth seeker: The author found something unusual thats occurring in his novel?
[Unusual occurrence]:
(1st suspicion) Why is the Demon King so powerful?
(2nd suspicion) Why is it that in the book this figure loses the war with the other nations?
(3rd suspicion) Even though the demon race was the main antagonist their power was at this level why did they lose?
Outcome: These three question sparks the interest of the system and has taken this as a hint of another anomaly. The system advises the author to stay on guard for any kind of anomaly to arise. You who became the Demon King mustn’t allow yourself to die and continue with your role. This is the only way to lure the anomaly, if you die then the search will be over])
