Chapter 313: Conquest Over Charity [1]

There was a time when I thought I was free, I had no shackles, no walls, and most of all, no oppressors, but I was wrong. Could you blame me? I was but an innocent child, kidnapped, sold to slavery, and faced unimaginable discrimination. The reigns of my life were taken, branded as a slave, ridiculed as I breathed, yet one pulled me from those depths and gave me a knife

“I call upon the vengeful, the unrest, the souls who renounced their wills upon facing downfall, I order thee, Arise!!!” From her shadows, skeletal figures arose one after the other, big or small, all shapes and sizes, appeared at the call of their lord

“How naive! You think I’ll give you time to call upon your army? Die you abominable cur and begone with your atrocities!!!”

As Michael lunges forth with the aid of his wings and a sword in his hand, Quon orders a few of her army to be her walls. Although their numbers outweigh Michael his virtue allows him to share his heavenly aura with anything in range. The defenses of his foe dwindled and with just a light swing the carcasses of her troops blew along the gust of wind

“This is the end!!! You can’t even call what we’re doing as a match. It’s just a one-sided massacre for the other side-”

Michael finally broke through the last of her undead and fired off a ray of divine light to where all the demonic energy was centered. But as he drew closer, he realized his foe’s lack of presence, in place of the spot once centered in demonic energy were bones. Just as he assumed she had escaped, out of the blue he felt that same presence near his rear, along with a piercing bolt

“I 100% agree with your statement. This is a one-sided massacre. But to whose side is the one thats so disadvantageous?”

Quon mocked his previous declaration and fired off a volley of her crossbow bolts; Michael tried to parry but got stopped. It seems all of his bravado made him forget he stepped onto the territory of the necromancer and was grappled by a horde of undead. He used his Virtue in the nick of time and it quickly dissolved the undead but as the bolts were so close he parried only a few aimed for his life

“You should’ve wasted more of your energy. Yes, you stop the attacks aiming for your life. But what about the rest?”

Upon her declaration, Michael felt his wings burning, wilting, and slowly decaying as it continuously spread. “Urggh!!!” He had no other option but to tear them apart the moment he felt the authority of another Knight of Apocalypse. “This power isn’t yours to begin with,”

“Correction, it’s a lethal concoction made by the Knight of Famine. Looks like you knew our abilities beforehand. That’s why we’ve gotten crafty with our tactics as well,”

Just as Quon looks to have the upper hand in the battle, a sudden rise of heavenly aura makes her think otherwise. “Corpse swap!!!” Her disappearing act was unearthed upon having Michael call upon an army that he commands came crashing down. “Damn it, I could’ve sworn there were no angels. But how? Jin told me there was none. By any chance had something happened?”

“So that’s your trick? I knew you had something hidden. But to think it was just some mobility spell. What a letdown,”

Upon the arrival of his angelic army, a flock of Virtues approach him and thus recover his wings back to their previous state. “If you’re going to be crafty then so do I. As the mortals say, an army for an army, and a Sin for a Virtue,”

The large presence of opposing powers made the ground, tremble, the air heavy, and the tension severe. Both commanders spared no second and ordered a full-on assault on their lowly pawns bravely charging ahead. Michael’s Virtue; Charity not only works wonders on its own but was said to be a deciding move in the possibilities of war

’Charity is the Virtue which grants its wielder the power to grant anything to a certain distance something which belongs to them. Be it a weapon, shield, or, most likely, that very power of that being itself, allowing his soldiers to never run out of steam. Being the leader of the archangels meant he’d be a monstrous adversary, and the fact that their body is created to fully wield their given Virtue means he’s a monster,’

Just as Quon predicted, the being before her had an abundance of divinity to spare and a speedy recovery to boot. But just as Michael was created to fully wield his given Virtue to the fullest, she became a deadly hunter when she awakened. Conquest; is the act of claiming the right to anything they desire as long as they have the power to do so, and for Quon she became a master of taking lives

“Tyrannyical sight!” Her eyes glimmered in the depths of her undying field and her sight widened so much that her prey was but a hair away

As the bolt of her crossbow flew, it struck its very first victim, killing it with one strike, and the bolt pushed further. It drilled into the corpse and brought forth the carcass to the mortal realm now as a fallen angel swaying in her palms. It joined her army and fought but just as it once did when it was alive, all its skills now used to very much so be of use to its foe

“Charge!!!”

Both sides commanded as their armies tore through one another in this fierce exchange of blows in their path of destruction. The undead press on having no will, no pain, and no thought with just the goal for blood and massacre to ensue. The angels on the other hand stand proudly in the face of death knowing their commander graces them with his abundant divinity

“Keep moving!!!” Michael joined the fight leading a group of Powers that covered his blind spot as they flew through the unspeakable onslaught

“May death do us part!” Quon rode her steed of chaos and hid under her army’s watchful eyes as she positioned herself for their inevitable clash

“Lord Michael we spotted her!” The angel assisting him along with a few others descent pointing their spears and charges to claim the head of their foe

“This is the end you demonic scum!!!”

As they approach the enormous surge of demonic energy the leading Power charges along with the divinity of Michael. The surge of power didn’t vanish, and they felt it grew even more so unruly. The head of their ally, who bravely charged, flew into the air, and amidst the chaos stood a singular knight. This undead was cut above the rest, within lingered a will, a soul burning with rage, and an armor for a body came the Death knight

“You angelic scum! Dare desire the life of my master? You’ve gone mad if you think I’ll permit it so!! Arise you spineless rats!!!”

At his beck and call a legion of undead came to his bidding lower in rank but power perfectly a match for the Powers. The Death Knight’s threats were nowhere empty as within his range, Michael and the powers were dragged to the ground. Black ethereal chains burst from the ground and pulled them to feel their wrath, as his legions made quick work on the Powers

Michael easily frees himself from the chains with his divinity’s natural radiance, and upon release, he parries his enemy’s blade. “I am your opponent!!!”

“Where is your master? Strangely, you’re the only one I could sense. It seems she has another trick up her sleeves,”

He entertained the thought of a duel against the Death Knight, and the two clashed with a tremendous amount of power in their swing. Both sides were pushed back, and their blades clashed again, Michael’s swordplay revolves around a fast and hearty thrust. The Death Knight’s technique was centered on placing its weight in each of its strikes making all of his blows powerful

“Enough with the tricks!”

Michael’s sword became incredibly fast yet fluid, which pushed back the Death Knight, and with an upward slash, he took the enemy’s blade off of its hands. He raises his knee, striking the Knight’s abdomen, and extends it to form a kick, pushing its body to the ground. He prepared his blade and added more weight to it blade which forges a clear yet narrow path to claim its head

“I’d agree,” Michael suddenly dismisses his attack against the Death Knight and parries the crossbow bolts aiming for his life. “Nice reflexes, but not good enough,”

Quon reveals herself upon shooting a bolt straight into Michael’s chest as she hides in the depths of the Death Knight. “You never thought I’d spring a surprise real early onto the fight. Looks like you truly can’t read me. Death orb!!!”

Upon charging an enormous sphere filled to the brim with demonic energy, she then releases it so against the Angel of Charity
