Chapter 305: Wolfsbane

Gabriel charges forward, and his opposition embraces the ground and runs on all fours in pursuit of each other’s end. The angel of virtue overflows with his divinity and leaves a trail of light and the tip of his spear resembles an arrowhead. The Knight of War’s wild outbursts of demonic energy spiraled out of his control and took the shape of a ravenous beast

“War!!!” Gabriel placed a surplus amount of strength on his left foot launching him into an irreversible clash

“Chicken-winged fucker!!!” Kyo does the same mimicking his move and thus resulting in a horrific collision course of these opposing factions

“Arrghhhhh!!!”

Their screams synchronized with one another and the resulting discord transformed their battlefield. The conflicting divinity tore through the ground, and severed the clouds, along with the direction of the wind. Gabriel’s insane speed along with his strength manages to withstand Kyo’s devastating slow but horrific strength

“Aren’t you slowing down?” Gabriel mentions the rapid deduction of his foe’s acceleration

“You’re one to talk. Your force is depleting. Think you can win in a clash with a power like that? Let’s see how you fare with this,” Kyo suddenly twisted his arm and a surge of never-before power pushed Gabriel aback threatening his center

’Did he intentionally hold back? This is bad, I miscalculated. At this rate, he’ll disrupt my stance,’

The virtue of diligence suffered his first disgrace and even though it pains him he performs a crafty reversal. His right foot takes one step back and with his left, he twists and turns escaping Kyo’s sudden power surge. This allowed him to strike his rear but just as his spear was about to strike Kyo imitated trickery and as he turned he resisted the spear with a powerful roundhouse kick

“So that’s how you wanna play eh?”

Their crafty schemes were put to a stop once Kyo fully declared their scenario as an all-out clash. Every time they struck one another the entirety of their surroundings trembled in their presence as they ready another strike. Within a span of a second a streak of both light and darkness plagued their battlefield and in its trail was nothing but utter ruins

’He’s gradually picking his paste. At this rate, he’ll gain the upper hand, but I still can’t use Cerberus. The effect of Single Combat has a cooldown once I choose a skill, so I can only use it once I’m certain that I’ll win,’

Kyo was slowly losing his speed, by straining his body to the limit, whilst his foe did the same their situation was different. Although the Weak Point of Diligence was known, the strength remained apparent, as with each passing time facing a demon, Gabriel’s speed flourished. This allowed the wielder to slowly lessen the strains on his body whilst his foe was subjected to spraying more and more power into his broken vessel

’I think even if I weren’t his foe, the rest of the group would hardly deal a scratch, this is because of his gosh darn Virtue. It activates when he faces a demon head-on and manages to land a hit, the worst part is that even parrying his attack is considered a hit. That’s mainly the reason why I got assigned to fight this fucker in the first place, since im the most suited,’

Kyo tried every single move to gain the upper hand, he set a trap, broke his foe’s advantage, and secured the initiative. Nonetheless, he couldn’t penetrate his foe’s defense, a weapon he so detested, a balance of offense and defense. The range of the spear forbids him from even taking any reckless acts, and its tip served as a warning for his schemes

“Ether Pierce…”

Kyo’s world slows down upon feeling the stinging sensation, and the sudden loss of function with his right arm. The spear has devoured it whole, the sudden rise of speed caught him off guard, and he disengaged in combat. He quickly pours his energy into maintaining his speed whilst using a small portion to close off his wound

“You’re slowing down, how was it? Is the feeling of death dragging you down? That look that everyone makes… it never gets old, the feeling of defeat, the sudden rise of fear, it makes me so excited. Unfortunately for you, that foul body of yours has reached its limit, you can never match my speed,”

His spear suddenly changed, it exuded a frightening aura to even make the likes of Kyo Min Soo tremble in fear. “Amongst the Seven virtues, there were a few acknowledged by Lord Deus, the almighty existence known as god,”

“In the absence of the divinities, they left all their relics in her hands, and a few of us archangels were then chosen,” The skies turned red, the unveiling of this weapon’s true colors tore the heavens, and shook the earth

“I am one of them, I am Gabriel, the wielder of the Sacred Treasure; Gungir the spear that never once misses its mark,”

Although Kyo never once showed any fear, this thing, whatever it was inside him, trembled as if he experienced it firsthand. Gabriel enters a familiar stance, and Kyo responds by running toward his foe with no signs of stopping whatsoever. Gungir left the embrace of Gabriel’s hand and it darted towards Kyo Min Soo, and at a hairs apart he then jumps

“What the!!?” Gabriel was stunned as he escaped from being pictured by Gungir, and before he could do anything he felt the warm of Kyo’s fist

’Gungir never once misses, so avoiding it is preventing the inevitable, so instead of running away face it head-on. Being grazed is the same as being hit, so once that’s over its divine authority won’t activate and it’ll return to the wielded. Hang on a minute, why do I know that? I don’t remember anyone telling me this. So how come I know it very well!??’

Before he could wonder about his sudden understanding of his opponent’s weapon, Kyo Min Soo pounded Gabriel to the ground over and over. Every thrust of his arm, contraction of his muscles, and every rupture of his veins amounted to a bloody beatdown. Just when he could finally land the final blow, the Divine Spear; Gungir intervened, as it returned in a bloody response tearing a hole through his chest

“Arghhh… that caught me off guard. But this is nothing compared to yours. That hole will be the death of you,”

Normally Kyo Min Soo could easily recover from such an injury but what injured him was a Sacred Treasure. A divine relic imbued with the power of its creator and filled to the brim with divinity under the use of gods. Thus earning these treasures a similar trait, a power in which to nullify all hope for its victim, to deny them recovery

’Arghh… this can’t be. I still have some fight left in me. Come on you chunk of flesh, move it! I still can… fight!’

Kyo Min Soo’s vision went dark, and although Gabriel won, the effects of Single Combat remained until he died. But something made the Heavenly Virtue tremble, it was a hunch, but he didn’t ignore it, so he focused on recovery. Even though his adversary had fallen, something called onto him, warning him of a danger he couldn’t foresee

’Where the hell am I? Is this a dream? I’ve heard the boss say something about this, when you’re dying life flashes by. I thought he was joking but it seems that’s not the case, this looks like Felgir’s shop. I never had any fond memories in here– oh so that’s it. ’I can’t remember why I held this memory so dear to me, my head’s so blurry, I can’t even think straight,’

His memories shifted the night they got back after their group was ambushed and he transformed for the very first time

“Morris you can lie down for a while, I’ll take Kyo to his room, you barely made it out alive today,” Esther barely had any strength in her legs and as she dropped to the ground it made him doubtful

“It’s alright… although I don’t show it, I have a lot of fight in me. Just stay down and rest,”

“Urm… boss!”

’This… if I remember I was forcefully awakened after being shocked at the boss dying before my eyes. I used up a lot of strength and I was barely making sense of what was occurring in front of me. It felt like walking through a foggy field so blurry yet I could hear very vividly,’

“Plus I think it’ll make him happy if I tuck him to sleep. I notice him spying on me and Agni. He must be a little startled,”

’So he knew!!?’

“What did you guys talk about?”

Christoper smiled and replied. “Nothing much, I just got over my head and called our boss an asshole,”

The whole area around Kyo Min Soo is blown away by his chant, and in the distance, Gabriel sees a silhouette. Shorter compared to his foe, having no pressuring aura, a childlike body, and topped with a fiendish smile. There lies Kyo Min Soo in its entirety, somehow he manages to survive. Then Gabriel realizes the body of his foe lying beneath the boy, and that made him think who was this sassy kid before him

“Enough roleplaying, it’s time to get serious… I’ll fight you not as the Knight of War but as Kyo Min Soo of Enigma!!!”
