Chapter 84: Presumptuous little Taytay
Presumptuous? Taylor? Her?
That fucking Esper!
Who was she to say that Taylor, of all people, was presumptuous? Taylor didn’t assume anything! It was fucking Karen, with her big eyes, soft lips, and beguiling smile that got everyone into her bed. Taylor wasn’t like that!
She was supposed to be observant! It was Karen who-
Taylor realised, belatedly, that this was the kind of reaction that Karen wanted from her. From the soft look in her eyes, and the way her lips twitched, Karen had wanted that reaction.
Huffing, Taylor rolled her eyes and stood up. The two women were practically eye to eye, staring at each other for a long, tense moment before Taylor went to shove her out of her way so that she could leave. She wasn’t going to stay a damn second longer with this insufferable woman.
“Taylor.” It was a soft call that made Taylor jerk. About as much as the hand touching Taylor’s wrist. “Something’s wrong, isn’t it?” Karen’s voice was soft, but it was like oil on a fire. Taylor stiffened further.
She was not about to speak about her worries to this woman. She wasn’t going to do so. Never. Not ever.
“Nothing’s wrong.” Taylor’s words were sharp, bitter. Karen didn’t flinch. She wouldn’t, after all. She dealt with the same moody S Class Captain that Taylor did. That was the one thing Taylor would fully acknowledge. She’d survived this long being by that monster’s side, Taylor’s jabs probably felt like nothing.
Taylor tugged gently at her hand, trying to be subtle about how she was trying to break free from Karen’s grip and found that she wasn’t budging. She was holding on like her life depended on it. Taylor, surprised, tugged harder, but Karen didn’t move. She didn’t even shift in her stance.
Fucking Physical Strength Esper!
“Let go.” Taylor hissed, venom in her voice. Karen shook her head subtly.
“No. You need to speak about this. I can tell. If the guiding didn’t work, you need to speak about this.” Karen’s words were soft. “It’s poison, Taylor.” Taylor hissed. What the hell would she know? What would she know? Of course it was fucking poison!
That was all that was around Taylor right now!
Poison, poison, poison! Taylor’s who fucking life had turned into poison! She lived, breathed, and had nightmares about it! Karen should know it well, since she was also in the same boat.
Taylor’s huff was harsh, rough, and made Karen narrow her gaze.
“I will break my wrist to get free of you.” Taylor told her quietly. She wasn’t joking. It would hurt like a motherfucker, but Taylor could do it. She had done so in school. It was the best way to learn what would work, and what wouldn’t hurt others. Karen’s expression hardened. Her grip faltered.
Taylor tried to take advantage of that, turning and tugging, managing to drag the other Esper a few inches before Taylor felt her world shift slightly. One moment, she was trying to drag another Esper towards the door, the next she found herself slammed against the wall, her captured hand above her head as a glowering, pissed off Esper stared back at her.
Surprised, Taylor raised her hand and went to press it against Karen’s chest and realised that wasn’t the right call. Flustered, Taylor tentatively pressed her hand against her shoulder, trying to push her back.
It was like pushing against a brick wall.
“No.” Karen’s words were icy. “You are not hurting yourself to escape me, and you aren’t hurting yourself with words anymore either. What’s wrong? What has you so bothered that you are even snapping at Kellen, of all people? Someone I know you wouldn’t like to snap at, ever.” Karen asked, her voice low, her expression searching. Taylor’s hand pressed against her shoulder harder, using the wall and her firm body to try to break free.
All Taylor found was that if she pushed hard enough, her feet could come off the ground but Karen wouldn’t move.
“You’re so fucking annoying.” Taylor told her. Lashing out, frustrated. Karen’s lips twitched.
“I never thought I’d get to see this side of you. You’re normally so composed and happy. Sarcastic, but happy.” Karen leaned in slightly, forcing Taylor back up, her ponytail hitting the wall, angling her head strangely. “I think I like seeing a spitting, angry Taytay. It’s cute.” Karen’s smirk, combined with how close they were, made something strange twist in Taylor’s body.
Taylor’s gaze narrowed at the other woman. She was pushing. Pushing, shoving, grabbing. Tearing down Taylor’s defenses and Taylor was pissed.
“Taytay? Are you fucking serious? That’s childish.” Taylor ignored her last words, but that made the other woman grin. She shifted closer, and Taylor glanced down. With each breath, their bodies nearly touched. Taylor could feel how the edge of her coat would rub against Karen’s breasts with each deep inhale. Taylor knew her face was red, but what was she supposed to do?
The woman had her pinned against a fucking wall! No one was going to react normally when someone did that to them.
“Pet names are a form of endearment, Taytay, not childish. You could call me Karebear. I think it would be sweet.” Karen’s voice had warmed, syrupy-sweet. Taylor’s chest rose quickly, dropping. God, she needed to stop taking deep breaths, the slight rub of fabric was driving her fucking insane.
“I am not calling you Karebear.” Taylor hissed. She let out a soft noise of complaint as she felt Karen’s body shift, her grip tugging Taylor’s captured hand up further, her body shifting closer. Taylor could feel how Karen was staring at her, at her body, her lips. Taylor’s mouth opened slightly, before she slammed her mouth closed. She firmed her lips, making them hard, unappealing.
Karen’s responding chuckle made Taylor twitch.
“I never expected that this was how we’d end up.” Karen’s soft admittance made Taylor’s blood run cold.
“Oh? You thought this would be easier?” Taylor wanted to scream, shout. She wanted to throw a fit. Of course her mind went to the worst case scenario. Why wouldn’t she? Karen had the ability to seduce everyone and anything. The several times that she had tried to seduce Taylor before this had almost been successful. Almost.
But Taylor had been able to brush it off because she kept going back to the several times that she had caught Karen with others. Taylor tried not to think about how Karen hadn’t been spotted with others recently. Pretty much since Kellen had shown up.
She had been…clean, in a way. Like she was going cold turkey. At least, it should have been like that.
If it wasn’t for the fact that she kept hitting on Taylor. Kept doing little things, stopping in for visits when she didn’t need a check up. Taylor wasn’t immune to such gestures. It was why she had said the words that she had.
She was trying to tell that to herself, too. If Karen didn’t know her, it meant that this wouldn’t mean a damn thing. Karen’s soft laughter, her chuckle, told Taylor that she wasn’t buying it.
“Taytay, you’re a terrible liar. As a medical professional, aren’t you supposed to be better at this?” Karen asked. She made the last move, pushing her breasts against Taylor’s and Taylor couldn’t help the soft noise that left her lips. “And easier? Why the fuck would I ever think that?” Karen asked, her voice soft. Dangerous.
“W-Why wouldn’t you think that? Everyone else just falls into your hands.” Taylor’s mouth ran away from her. She watched as Karen twitched, clearly not expecting that kind of an answer.
“Falls into my hands? Is that how you see me?” Karen sounded more amused than anything else. “I’m delighted that you think it’s that easy. I promise you, however, that it isn’t. Not when it counts.” The words hung heavy between them.
Taylor could barely breathe.
It was easy, except for when it mattered.
Fuck, Taylor was trying so damn hard not to be presumptuous. She was fighting against the desire to think that Karen was talking about her. About the failed attempts. The several, failed attempts to seduce her.
The half-hearted ones, the ones with a half smile, the ones that had sounded sincere but she had smoothed out after Taylor had said no. The ones that came with chocolates and flowers, but Karen had said that someone else had given them to her.
The brush offs, the late night calls, the ask outs for drinks. Every little action that up until now, Taylor had refused to look at. Refused to acknowledge. Because Karen was supposed to be commitment phobic, but maybe, just maybe, it was Taylor who was.
The soft whimper in the back of her throat, her breasts pressing against Karen’s with every breath, the sound of their breathing and the frantic pounding of Karen’s heart that Taylor had refused to acknowledge up until this point had Taylor confused. Befuddled.
“What do you want from me?” Taylor asked. She had wanted to sound firm, sound stern. Instead, it came out like a whisper, a desperate question of a woman who was just trying to keep her life together.
Karen’s nostrils flared, her head tilting slightly to the side.
“I want you.” Karen told her. She was firm in her conviction, her eyes unwavering. Taylor shifted against the wall. Karen’s free hand slid to the small of her waist, pulling Taylor flush against her. Taylor gasped, their bodies making contact. “I want all of you.” Karen confirmed further, her eyes staring into Taylor’s. “Every last inch. Every last breath. I’ve wanted that since the moment I laid eyes on you.” Karen told her and Taylor felt her eyes go wide in shock.
“W-What?” Taylor’s shock was evident and Karen’s smile in response was bitter.
“Taylor, can I kiss you?” Karen asked and Taylor shuddered. Ah shit.
Taylor was the one who closed the distance, pressing her lips quickly, but carefully, against Karen’s. It was a chaste peck, simple.
“A kiss.” Taylor mumbled, embarrassed. Karen let out a shaky breath.
“You aren’t getting away after provoking me.” Karen whispered before her lips came crashing down on Taylor’s. Taylor had expected this. Honestly, from the moment she had realised she was going to be in a small room with the other woman, she had been attempting to avoid just this.
How badly she had failed.
The moan that left her lips as Karen’s tongue plundered her mouth surprised Taylor in its volume. She wasn’t normally like this, but then again, had anyone kissed her like this before? Like they were branding her? Taylor could barely think past the pleasure coursing through her body. She should have tried to escape harder.
