Gilbert’s dull voice cut through the chaos, its calm tone grating against Damian’s nerves.

Corbin chuckled at those words, revealing bloodstained teeth as he struggled to hold the massive shield in place. Unlike Damian, he took no offense at Gilbert speaking so casually in the middle of a battlefield drenched in destruction. This had always been their dynamic since childhood.

“Alright, buddy. Any ideas?” he asked.

Gilbert slowly turned his gaze toward Damian, who was quietly gathering his demonic force. Before the archangel’s eyes, every one of Damian’s intentions lay exposed.

He quickly moved to withdraw, his body tensing as golden light gathered beneath his feet, but before he could take even a single step…

Damian’s grip on his shoulder tightened. A sharp, crushing pain shot through Corbin’s bones, forcing a strained breath out of his lips as his body locked in place. The strength behind that grip was monstrous, no different from the pressure Duke Haborym exerted.

Corbin’s eyes widened slightly but Damian did not even look at him.

“Nobody moves… or everyone dies.”

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

The tidal wave of demonic force loomed over them now, its shadow swallowing the last remnants of light as it descended, ready to erase everything in its path yet Damian didn’t seem to be hurried at all. This sudden change in attitude was deeply unsettling and confusing.
