“So are you anchored to me, or are you possessing human bodies?”

Ruby shook her head, a proud smile curving her lips.

“The rule does not apply to Gods and Demi gods. We can enter and leave realms in our true form as we wish, but we cannot interfere with fate.” Ruby frowned slightly as she explained.

Fate?

Damian’s brows drew together in confusion. Did that mean their presence here, sleeping with him and posing as his wives, was not considered interference in human affairs?

“What do you mean by fate?” Damian pressed, wanting something more precise.

“If something is trying to kill you, saving you would be interfering with your fate. We can exist around you, but when it truly matters, we must not involve ourselves directly.” Hazel answered.

“We can possess mortals, but our souls are too powerful. Mortal bodies tend to crumble within minutes of us inhabiting them. A god possessing a mortal is a death sentence for the mortal,” Racheal added.

At that point, Damian understood the dynamic more clearly and why they were worried about him. For all their presence, he was more or less alone. It was a truth that settled heavily in his chest.

“These beings that entered Chicago, I am assuming they are low level angels and demons using human bodies?” he asked.

The three exchanged difficult glances, the kind shared when trying to explain something complicated.

“More or less. But there are also humans among them who willingly serve demons or angels, so it is more complicated than that,” Hazel replied.

Damian nodded absentmindedly, rubbing his chin as thought deepened across his features. Racheal, Ruby, and Hazel waited patiently for over a minute before he finally spoke.

“I plan to take over one of the biggest gangs in Chicago, one with strong political ties. Through them, I will launch my political ambitions. I want to turn Chicago into a realm of inequity, the kind you said I ruled in the underworld. Is that not the best way to raise my strength?”

Now that he understood the danger, he laid out his intentions without hesitation. If he ran now, he would spend the rest of his life running. He was stronger than before and positioned to accomplish something monumental. Leaving was no longer an option.

His wives stared at him, surprise flickering in their eyes. He could see the resistance there. They wanted to support him, but fear lingered. The danger of his enemies knowing he was here weighed on them.

“I have the Abyss inheritance. I have this ring. And I have the three of you to help me build an empire that can fight in both the physical and the spiritual realms,” Damian pressed when he sensed their hesitation.

They exchanged glances before sighing in reluctant defeat. The hunger in his eyes was unmistakable. How could they deny their husband the chance to stand his ground and fight like a man?

“Only if you agree to leave with us the moment things spiral out of control,” Hazel bargained, and Damian seized the offer immediately.

He grabbed her hands and nodded brightly, making Hazel blush.

“And never take off your ring again,” Ruby added.

Damian reached for her hand as well, and her face flushed red. She had not expected such warmth from him, especially since they had only met the day before.

“I promise,” he said, looking straight into her eyes.

Blushing harder, she avoided his gaze and tried to force a cold expression. Hazel and Racheal chuckled at her attempt.

“But you must also promise to train with me often. I am sure you noticed the difference between you and Bathin during your fight,” Ruby said, trying to redirect the conversation.

What was meant to be a simple diversion instead stirred something deeper within Damian. Reflecting on that battle, he was certain he had surpassed Bathin in skill.

He possessed superior techniques and abilities, yet he had still lost ground because he lacked control and finesse. His fox fire attacks had been blocked by thin yet dense layers of demonic force. That required more than merely manifesting power. It demanded precise control.

The devil lance skill had been nothing more than demonic force spiraling at tremendous speed, amplifying its destructive power through velocity. He understood the principles. He simply could not execute them.

Bathin had proven that inheriting power was not enough. Without training, he would likely die at the hands of some nameless demon.

“I agree. But only on Sundays,” Damian offered.

His weekdays would soon be consumed by his plans with Twenty’s gang, and his Saturdays would no longer be free.

“Deal,” Ruby answered instantly.

Under her guidance, Damian would become a warrior far more formidable than before. Lin Qui had learned much from her as well.

“Now, the final topic,” Hazel announced, clapping her hands to draw attention.

“Money…”

“Moneyyyyyyyyy!”

The girls cheered, leaving Damian staring at them. Demons cooking was one thing, but materialism was an entirely different matter. Yet unreasonable things often proved to be the most reasonable of all. He could only wait helplessly until their celebration over nonexistent wealth subsided.

Ruby clapped her hands, and a chest burst into existence in emerald flames, crashing onto an empty section of the dining table. Its weight made the table shudder violently, knocking over glasses and spilling wine across the surface. Damian barely noticed. His gaze was locked onto the chest.

The wooden box was large and ancient. The locks were rusted, yet numerous talismans sealed it tightly. From within came the sound of something slamming against the interior walls, accompanied by eerie cries layered over hysterical laughter.

Damian could even see a massive shadow looming over the chest. Should such a thing truly be placed in human hands?

“We brought a few loyal servants with us. As we speak, they are searching for buyers interested in cursed weapons. We should receive feedback within a month at most,” Ruby assured him.

Hazel and Racheal applauded as though Ruby had delivered a flawless presentation, and Ruby responded with exaggerated bows. Ignoring their theatrics, Damian rose and approached the chest. He reached toward it, but before his fingers could make contact, Hazel pulled it away while Ruby stepped in front of him, arms spread wide.

“No. Cursed tools are dangerous for humans. You should not touch them,” Ruby said firmly before stepping aside.

Only then did Hazel open the chest. Inside were two items. The first was a dagger without a hilt. Its blade appeared rusted beyond salvation, yet Damian could sense a dark presence within it, something trying to suppress its own aura as though afraid its true nature would repel potential buyers. Beside it lay a whip coiled into a perfect circle, razor sharp blades lining every inch. It carried a similar concealed darkness.

If not for his predatory instincts, he would have mistaken them for ordinary relics.

“Each should sell for at least one hundred million. If we negotiate properly, we can offer both together for half a billion,” Racheal murmured, almost as if thinking aloud.

Damian nodded slowly, eyes fixed on the weapons. Anyone willing to purchase such objects was unlikely to be righteous. There was little reason for him to feel guilty.

“Okay. Alright, let’s do it,” he said.
