Damian was genuinely surprised to see the angel still breathing and in one piece. It seemed the angel had not been lying when it rated itself above lesser demons.

However, it did not matter. The creature was only a step away from death. All it needed was a little encouragement.

“Linda, my dear, don’t tell me you have fully given yourself to evil?” Ïsö shot the woman a weak but charming smile.

Damian was taken aback by the sheer shamelessness of the angel who had been perfectly willing to watch her die moments ago.

“Bro, gaslighting a human for survival is gutter behavior, especially from an almighty angel. What happened, have you lost faith in your God?” Damian hissed as azure flames burst forth from his palm. He casually pointed it in the direction of the kneeling angel.

Linda gasped within his grip, her eyes shifting between the angel and Damian, confusion written all over her face. Even if she wanted to help Ïsö, how was she supposed to kill someone this powerful?

Seeing that she was not willing to make a move, Ïsö’s benevolent smile vanished faster than it had appeared and was replaced by a twisted expression.

“This betrayal will be remembered in heaven…”

“Cut the crap. You won’t even make it back, and I doubt anyone will remember you.” Damian cut him off.

The angel’s screams tore through the air as smoke from the blue flames climbed toward the sky. The fragrance of roasted angel spread everywhere, and to Damian’s great irritation, it smelled disturbingly like chicken.

Damian felt robbed.

The demons had given him two points each while the angel had given three. He was not sure if the system expected him to be happy about this.

Pushing that aside, he turned his attention to the woman silently staring at the burning angel, complicated emotions swimming in her eyes. Only now, observing her from afar, did he notice the fullness of her plump breasts and the thick curve of her hips and ass hidden beneath her robe.

“Holy mother…” he muttered under his breath.

Shaking the thought away, Damian walked toward her while his wings slowly folded into his back. She noticed him approaching and turned to face him.

“I didn’t save you to look pretty and mourn dead angels. Tell me what’s going on on the other side of the Isolation Barrier.” Damian pointed toward the barrier.

“Isolation barrier?” Linda looked confused by the term, but when she glanced at the massive, nearly transparent wall in the distance, understanding quickly dawned on her.

She simply was not used to hearing it called that. This should have been the first time she had heard the term.

“A demon noble named Haborym is performing a large-scale search within the region with his army of demons. We do not know what it is searching for, but my team is trying to reach it and end it.” Linda quickly summarized the situation.

When they had first received the briefing, they had assumed it was a full-scale invasion. However, when they arrived, what they saw were demons searching homes and buildings. It was bizarre and deeply unsettling.

Her team suspected it was an item they were searching for.

Now, however, she believed it was a person.

This person.

“I see.” Damian’s voice trailed off as his mind turned.

He wanted to ask if the demons seemed friendly or not, but that would be a stupid question. What he truly wanted to know was whether these demons were loyal to him like his wives or if they had been sent by his brothers.

“Should I?”

He hesitated, but curiosity gnawed at him too strongly to ignore.

The real problem was this. If the demon called Haborym was truly an enemy, could he fight a demon noble with his current strength?

“Did it possess a human body?” Damian asked.

Linda shook her head.

“It appeared in its true form, probably anchored by a ritual altar hidden somewhere within the region. The altar allows it to serve as an anchor for his army, enabling them to enter this world in their physical forms. Of course, they must remain within a certain range of it. That’s why I ran out of the barrier. I was hoping I could cross their range before they caught up to me.” She explained.

Damian’s eyes slowly narrowed.

This meant the demon would be able to use its full strength.

Unlike Bathin.

“I understand.”

Damian did not linger any longer. He turned around and began walking toward the Isolation Barrier, leaving the woman behind without another word. She could only stare at his back in shock that he had actually allowed her to live.

Demons were known to be liars and deceivers who cheated even during bargains.

Yet this one had stayed true to his word.

“He is still very human.” she murmured quietly.

As Damian reached the Isolation Barrier, he stepped forward without hesitation, allowing his body to phase through its surface. The moment he entered, it felt as though the world itself had changed.

The sky was painted red with blood, and the entire world had been dyed in a deep crimson hue.

The stench of blood was thick in the air, and the winds howled unnaturally through the ruined streets, whipping his hair wildly around his face. As for the demons, they were everywhere.

They crawled across buildings like cockroaches.

Some flew through the air.

Others clung to walls.

Some moved through broken streets while others searched inside buildings.

Damian closed his eyes and shut out the chaos of grunts, growls, and roaring wind. He pushed his senses to their limit, focusing on the buildings around him.

Within seconds, he could hear it.

Families.

Still sleeping peacefully inside their homes.

It was exactly as the woman had said.

The demons had come here to search for him.

Nothing else.

“If you are worried about their safety, then you don’t have to worry. Only when special conditions are met can large-scale massacres of mortals occur. If not, humans would not still exist. Angels would probably reach you first before we demons ever make a move.”

Damian’s head snapped over his shoulder at the sound of the familiar voice.

Hazel stood there.

Beside her were Ruby and Racheal.

All three of them were dressed in pajamas and fluffy bunny slippers just like his, their hair tied up in casual buns.

They looked as though they had been ready to call it a night before suddenly receiving alarming news that their husband was about to do something incredibly stupid.

So they had come running.
