Chapter 86: Operation Black Messiah Begins

Damian’s blazer lay on the couch while his shirt sleeves were rolled up. Several hours had passed, and only now had he finished reviewing every piece of information contained on Twenty’s laptop.

In fact, Twenty had been genuinely shocked watching him work. Damian had spent hours studying the files with the same intense concentration as someone preparing for a major exam. The young rapper had simply kept the cigars and whiskey flowing whenever Damian needed a refill.

“I see you got everything down. I respect your focus, my guy.” Twenty approached and stretched out his hand for a shake.

“I’ll be leaving for a trip with my wife by next week. I’m just trying to wrap up loose ends so I can actually enjoy my vacation.”

Damian did not simply shake his hand. Instead, he grabbed Twenty’s arm and used it as leverage to pull himself up from the couch. Halfway through the motion, however, Twenty abruptly let go, causing Damian to drop back onto the couch while Twenty stepped backward several paces with a look of utter disgust.

“Holy crap, you are married?” he blurted out.

’Did this black ass man just let me fall because I’m married?’

Was marriage some kind of plague?

“At least tell me you got a prenup. ’Cause I ain’t doing fifty fifty with no bitch.” Twenty asked with a strange expression hovering between hope and disappointment.

Understanding exactly where this conversation was headed, Damian burst into loud, uncontrollable laughter. He shook his head before answering.

“Don’t worry. My wife is loaded, so I didn’t get a prenup. I even live in her mansion. I mean our mansion.” He teased with a mischievous smile.

Twenty’s disapproving expression slowly twisted until it mirrored Damian’s grin. He threw his hand up again as if preparing for another handshake and approached with a strange swaggering walk that somehow made the moment even funnier.

“My man… I didn’t know you had that dog in you!” Twenty exclaimed proudly.

They clasped hands and pulled each other in for a shoulder bump.

“My eye is always on the money,” Damian replied with a proud smile.

He could almost feel Hazel breathing down his neck and could not help imagining the expression she must have had at that moment. Still, he kept his proud smile intact while he and Twenty laughed like two men who had just won the lottery.

Twenty went on to ask if he had any children, to which Damian replied no. The conversation drifted briefly into family matters. Twenty argued that the baby mama system was the best arrangement for wealthy men, while Damian countered that marriage was actually the better choice if a man found the right person.

The two debated the subject for a while before eventually calming down and returning their focus to business.

“So how soon can I expect a plan that makes me the Boss?” Twenty asked.

Damian smiled sinisterly because the answer had become obvious the moment he understood the cartel’s internal structure and how it operated.

It might appear as though the boss held absolute power, but that was not entirely true.

“In your line of business, money is power. If you control the money and the cartel begins relying on your operations to survive, you become indispensable.”

Damian spoke while staring at the empty glass resting on the table. His fingertip traced along the rim as he continued.

“Eventually, the boss’s authority will begin to weaken simply because you control the most profitable revenue streams. We don’t need some elaborate strategy. We only need to make you so prosperous and powerful that you quietly undermine your boss’s authority.”

Twenty understood most of the concept, but undermining the boss was not something that could be done lightly.

“If that happens, it could mean an internal war,” he said.

“And that is exactly how you become the boss. With me and my master by your side, your victory will be one hundred percent certain.” Damian leaned back into the couch while pulling out another cigar.

He lit it slowly while watching Twenty stare off into the distance, lost in thought. After several seconds of silence, the young gangster’s eyes sharpened again.

“How do I become that prosperous?”

Only after hearing that question did Damian’s smile stretch into a crazed, sinister grin, revealing the faint hint of fangs among his teeth. For a brief moment, Twenty shuddered. The presence Damian exuded in that instant reminded him too much of the masked figure of the Faceless.

“By building a church and a love hotel,” Damian said calmly before placing the cigar between his lips and lighting it.

“Church and love hotel?” Twenty muttered, utterly confused.

How could those two things possibly exist in the same sentence?

Only a devil would even think of such a combination.

Damian removed the cigar and released a plume of smoke into the air. He watched the gray cloud dissolve slowly before continuing.

“Let me paint the picture. Celebrity gangster rapper Twenty Shot is baptized and publicly renounces his life of crime after discovering salvation. We introduce the world to a masked savior who heals the sick, makes the crippled walk, and fills people’s souls with purity.”

He paused briefly before continuing.

“But at night we become something entirely different. A private and hidden love hotel that only VIP members of our church can access. The same church that cleanses the soul will also provide the most satisfying experiences they will ever have.”

Twenty stared at the lawyer as if he were looking at a ghost. He could already see the endless money flowing in from Damian’s miraculous healing abilities alone. What he had not expected was the addition of a love hotel attached to something sacred.

What Twenty did not know was that this idea had originally come from Hazel.

Damian drew strength from immorality, especially acts tied to lust. In the underworld, his domain was a city of endless desire where indulgence never ceased. That realm had allowed Lin Qui to grow rapidly, and within that city he had been nearly invincible. Even a demon lord would struggle if he dared challenge Lin Qui within the boundaries of that domain.

While this would not be an entire city, a massive structure filled with people who worshipped him as a god while simultaneously engaging in immoral acts would become the perfect cultivation environment for him. With such influence, he would possess a constant stream of talent points and experience points.

This advantage was especially important now that his growth had begun slowing dramatically after reaching the hundred level threshold. Even after spending the entire previous night with all three of his wives, his level had only increased by five.

It felt as though the requirements for leveling up had suddenly doubled.

This church would change that.

The only real danger was that once the demons realized what was happening, they would know exactly where to find him.

However, Hazel was confident that she and her sister could handle any demon foolish enough to threaten their beloved husband. They were not permitted to interfere in the affairs of mortals.

Demons, however, were a completely different matter.

And the best part, he can do this while keeping his identity hidden. With his shapeshift Skill, he can change his appearance and hair color and also add a mask to his costume.

He can live that life and no one will ever have to know!
