The next morning, Damian left for work unusually late, mostly because he had been watching the news. His eyes remained fixed on the screen as channel after channel cycled through the usual morning reports. He searched carefully for any mention of what had happened the night before, yet there was nothing. Not a single report. Not a whisper.

Second, Candice’s behavior had already crossed professional boundaries. She chased a married junior partner through the corridor, tried to grab him, then begged him to take her back. But even though she had started all the chaos, Adrian’s actions were far worse. He physically attacked a colleague inside the office building without asking a single question.

“Candice started all this but I think he’s the one who will get the worst punishment.”

Clara looked bubbly and proud as she spoke. The footage had already been leaked to employees by a security officer, so practically everyone in the building had seen what happened. She herself had watched the video at least seventy times that morning alone.

Damian’s movements in the footage looked graceful and precise. Every dodge was smooth. Every step controlled. It looked almost cinematic, like something from a choreographed action scene.

To think her man was not only handsome but could actually back it up with real skill. Only now did she realize his physique wasn’t just for show. She had been sleeping with a real martial arts master.

“HR and senior partners are currently reviewing the security footage. We may hear a verdict before the day ends!”

Clara’s smile slowly faded when she noticed Damian showed no reaction.

They walked through the reception hall on the first floor and headed straight for the elevator.

“You are not happy?”

She asked the moment they stepped inside and the elevator doors slid shut behind them.

Damian calmly pressed the button for the criminal defense floor before turning to meet her gaze.

“If I wanted to punish them, I would have done that a long time ago.” He shrugged slightly. “Whether they get punished or not doesn’t really concern me. I’m more interested in moving to my new office.”

Clara nodded slowly. Her eyes burned with admiration.

The more her man spoke, the deeper her infatuation grew. If it were not for the cameras inside the elevator, she might have lunged forward for a kiss and perhaps something even more reckless.

Memories of their wild night together were still fresh in her mind.

Her cheeks flushed instantly.

She quickly avoided his gaze and said,

“You don’t have to worry about that, we did that for you. All you need to do is just settle into your new office.”

Damian had already grown used to Clara blushing at almost everything he did, but the information she had just revealed still caught him off guard.

“We? Who helped?” He asked.

“Ooh… The associates assigned to you. Everyone is trying to get on your good books.” Clara winked.

At that moment, the elevator chimed softly.

The doors slid open with a hiss.

Two unfamiliar figures stood outside.

They were identical.

Both had ginger hair, freckles scattered across their faces, and oversized glasses that gave them a slightly nerdy appearance. Their similarity was so perfect it was almost unsettling.

Maybe it was simple male instinct, but Damian’s eyes naturally shifted to the more eye-catching of the two.

The girl.

Her nerdy image ended the moment one looked past her face. Beneath the modest appearance was a striking figure. Their faces felt strangely familiar, like people you were certain you had seen before but couldn’t quite place.

Damian was sure he had encountered them somewhere in the firm, but since they worked in different departments, they had never truly interacted.

“We are the same age. Drop the honorifics.” Damian said calmly.

He shook their hands briefly before continuing down the hallway with Clara guiding him toward his new office.

The room was located on the upper partner floors, far above the crowded associate section where he had spent most of his career.

The office itself was spacious without feeling excessive. A large floor-to-ceiling window covered the far wall, offering a wide view of the Chicago skyline and the slow crawl of traffic far below. Morning sunlight streamed through the glass and filled the room with a warm golden glow.

At the center of the office stood a heavy desk polished to a mirror shine. It was large enough to hold several case files, a sleek computer monitor, and a neat stack of documents without ever appearing cluttered. Behind the desk sat a tall leather chair far more comfortable than the stiff seats associates were forced to endure.

Across from it stood two visitor chairs made of dark leather and polished steel. To the side was a small meeting table that could seat four people comfortably, clearly meant for private strategy discussions.

A tall bookshelf occupied one wall, already filled with thick legal volumes, case binders, and reference materials from the criminal division.

Damian’s attention eventually drifted toward the window.

Beside it sat a simple bar cart holding crystal glasses and a bottle of expensive whiskey. Someone from the firm had clearly left it there as a quiet congratulations.

He noticed the ribbon tied around the bottle with a small note attached.

A message he would most likely never read.
