Clara called out as she hurried to the door and unlocked it, only to find Damian standing on the other side with a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of flowers. She blinked in surprise, especially since she had not heard from him all day and had not expected him at all.

“I thought you bailed on me,” she muttered with a faint smile as she accepted the flowers.
