Chapter 335: 335
After finishing examining Michelle, the teacher concluded that she didn’t seem to be hurt in any way, but it would be greatly beneficial for her to focus on training her body control for a while instead of proceeding with her training of concealment and detection.
The teacher also suggested taking Michelle to one of the teachers specializing in fighting and body tempering.
Truthfully, Michelle wasn’t really tempted to give up on her training with her Masters, Antony and Marcus, but she also didn’t want to raise unnecessary suspicion.
And she indeed was curious about the physical training of the people, the experts, of the upper realm.
Being cultivators, their training had to be different from what Michelle was used to in her past life, or when she was still in the Land of Exile.
So, Michelle agreed. She just added that she would have to inform her Masters of her inability to train with them.
Naturally, the teacher agreed.
He personally knew the Julians brothers, so he knew they would want to be informed about something like that.
And it would be for the best if the one to inform them was their disciple.
And it actually would be quite easy to do, at least with Antony.
Before leaving back to the Pale Forest, he said that he would come back to check on Michelle.
So, Michelle stayed in the healing facility until evening, waiting for Antony.
When he came, the healing teacher left, not wanting Antony to get angry at him when he found out that he was the cause of the fact that Michelle wouldn’t train for a while.
When the teacher left, Michelle quickly explained to Antony what was going on, causing a frown to form on his brows.
“What is it exactly with your joints?” he asked.
After seeing Michelle grab Alexander by the neck, he knew she wasn’t normal, and he wanted to understand it.
Only after hearing Antony say that did Michelle realize that back when she was still dizzy, she showed off the strange movement of her joints to Antony.
Frowning a bit, she didn’t quite like that. Even though she was trying to be cautious, she was slowly revealing more and more of herself.
Luckily, it was only to her Master, so she was safe, but it still wasn’t a nice feeling.
Waiting for Michelle’s explanation, it wasn’t hard for Antony to guess she wanted to keep her secrets.
The longer he knew her, and that was only a few days, the more he was aware that the brat in front of him was deeper than he could imagine. She clearly held secrets he knew he would never find out and, truthfully, didn’t even want to find out.
On the other hand, Michelle knew that though she wanted to stay as secretive as possible, if she wanted to keep the trust of her Master, she couldn’t just brush his question off.
Especially if he saw her in action.
So, Michelle lifted her hand in front of her and twisted it.
Instantly, she could see Antony frown, his neck retracting.
It was clear the sight was at least discomforting, if not repulsive, to him.
“How did you get that ability?” he asked, though he wasn’t sure if he wanted to know the answer.
He had the feeling it would traumatize him.
Michelle didn’t want to give a full answer, but a half-truth wouldn’t hurt.
“It’s actually one of the reasons the Heavenly Law ignores my existence. I had a fight with an Orange Widow. When I gave it the finishing blow, it bit me. After that, my joints started changing.”
Of course, that was a lie.
The abilities were from the Orange Widow, but they weren’t caused by the fight.
But Michelle would never tell that to anyone.
Antony frowned a bit, observing Michelle.
He had never heard that Orange Widows could do something like that, but they weren’t exactly a species that appeared much in the upper realm.
They mostly lived in the middle realm, being peak predators.
And even in the middle realm, not much was known about their physiology and their poisons.
The reason for that was actually very simple.
Orange Widows were born powerful, more powerful than most humans who cultivated in the middle realm.
And quite a few times, they were even more powerful than people who came from the upper realm after being suppressed by the Heavenly Law.
So, very few had been killed, and their bodies had been mangled, so studying them was nearly impossible.
So even though many knew of the existence of Orange Widows, no one knew the extent of their abilities.
Michelle exploited that to lie to Antony.
She really didn’t want anyone to know about the fact that she had absorbed Life Stones.
Antony stared at Michelle for a long while.
“Why would the Heavenly Law ignore you after being poisoned?” his confusion, or suspicion, was clear.
Michelle already had an excuse made for that.
“I only came to the barrier of the Heavenly Law long after being poisoned. My body was already accustomed to the changes in my joints. In other words, my body was already inhuman in the Heavenly Law’s eyes. But it couldn’t classify me as a monster or a beast since I am a human. So it decided to ignore something it doesn’t understand.”
Antony wasn’t exactly convinced.
“That wasn’t the only thing you did that violated the Heavenly Law?” he asked.
Michelle nodded. “That’s only natural.”
Antony didn’t ask further.
“I’ll tell Marcus about your training, so don’t worry about it. Now go.”
Michelle thanked him and quickly left.
Nearby, she saw the healer teacher, so she jogged over to him.
“Teacher, I talked with Master Antony. He will also tell Master Marcus.”
The teacher nodded.
“Go rest today. I’ll lead you to your new teacher tomorrow. He goes to the training grounds around 9, so come here by then.”
“Yes, teacher!” Michelle smiled. “Thank you!”
The teacher watched Michelle walk away, closely observing her movement.
It mostly seemed normal, but as an experienced healer who had seen many abnormalities, he could see the slight deviations.
And seeing that just further convinced him that Ana Ostrich needed professional training.
Walking away, Michelle realized one great thing about the teachers of the Ostrich Academy.
Though they were responsible for hundreds of students each, they made sure to take care of each student.
If they saw a student with a problem, whether it was or wasn’t their student, they helped like the student was their personal disciple.
Of course, with how many students there were, they didn’t notice everyone, but the students could have high trust in the teachers.
Because if they approached them for help, they wouldn’t be baselessly turned away.
Michelle was wondering how the headmaster was able to have the teachers do it when all of them were eccentric in their own ways.
Why was it that they all cared about the students so dearly?
Even Marcus, clearly the most arrogant of the teachers, was clearly willing to help the students.
Though with his disciples he was reckless and put them in danger, that was only in training.
The rest of the time, he held some responsibility which went quite against his personality.
For example, if he didn’t have that responsibility, there would be no reason for him to teach Michelle detection.
He took her as a disciple because he wanted to study her concealment and test his detection on her.
And she knew that.
So, logically, he had no real reason to put the effort into teaching her.
But he did because it would benefit her in her confrontation with the Heavenly Law.
Lost in thought, Michelle found herself in front of the dorms of Antony’s students.
She had never been there before, and she realized she didn’t even have the room key.
Still, Michelle walked in and glanced around.
Knowing Antony for a while, she could tell he wouldn’t forget to give her the key, so he must have arranged things somehow.
And indeed.
As Michelle walked further into the dorm building, a student approached her.
“You are Ana Ostrich?” the girl asked.
Michelle nodded.
“How did you know?” she was curious about what Antony told the girl.
The girl seemed to have been expecting Michelle to ask that.
“Teacher Julians told me to wait for a student with movement patterns slightly off.”
Michelle raised a brow.
“Off?” She couldn’t see herself when she walked, so she was quite curious about what was off about her movement.
She could use that knowledge in her later training.
The girl nodded.
“Teacher said your movement is unnaturally fluid. But without directly searching for it, I wouldn’t have noticed it.”
As she spoke, the girl reached into her sleeve and took out a key.
“Teacher wanted me to give you this key. Your room is at the end of the hallway.”
Michelle thanked the girl and took the key, going to the room.
Entering, it looked exactly the same as the room she had in the dorm of Marcus’ disciples.
So she put some things down and sat on the bed.
Since she had time until the next morning, she started once again training her shadow essence control, shrouding the room in darkness.
Like that, Michelle stayed until the next morning, when she got up, changed her clothes, and went back to the healer’s facility.
