Chapter 49: Chapter 49: I’m Not a Single Magnate
Ricky Russo walked up behind Noel Lynch. “Do you have any further instructions, sir?”
“Nothing else. You did an excellent job.” Noel Lynch clapped his hands in delight. “Carls, this is my final, and best, gift to you. Your wife and child are waiting for you in heaven. Now you can be reunited.” Noel Lynch had placed Carls’s wife and child under house arrest long ago, when he’d first planned on using him.
“Noel Lynch… you… How dare you kill my family…!” Carls grabbed the gun that had fallen near his hand, but Ricky Russo kicked it away.
“Ricky Russo… I never thought… that you would betray me too.” Carls lay in a pool of blood, his eyes vacant. He accepted his fate. He had done evil things his whole life, only to fall at the hands of someone even more wicked and cunning than himself.
“Carls, in a devil’s world, there’s no such thing as trust. There is only self-interest.” Ricky Russo looked down on him condescendingly.
“Heh heh… My karma has come for me. Yours is on its way. Just you wait! HAHA…” After saying this, Carls stopped breathing. Noel Lynch walked over to his corpse. “Don’t you understand a simple concept like tying up loose ends? Go on, reunite and curse me together. I’d love to see what kind of curse it’ll be.” After speaking, he took out a gold-plated lighter, lit it, and tossed it onto Carls’s body. The raging fire devoured the darkness. The night was still long; those wrapped in each other’s arms were already fast asleep…
Dominic Thorne and Ronan Jenkins boarded a helicopter to return to the country and find Kenneth Yates. They couldn’t wait for a commercial flight; they had to see him immediately.
“Ronan, Sean Murphy will be fine.” Dominic Thorne patted a worried-looking Ronan Jenkins on the shoulder.
“No matter what, I will get him out.” Ronan Jenkins’s determined expression gave Dominic Thorne confidence. ’We will definitely save Sean Murphy.’
After they arrived in Aeston, they called Kenneth Yates, but the call went unanswered. So, they decided to go find him.
「Early morning.」
The first ray of sunlight shone into the hospital room. A man was sound asleep, holding a woman in his arms. She wore a sweet smile in her sleep. After the long night, the man had the beginnings of a stubble. KNOCK KNOCK. The sound came from the room’s door. Summer Lancaster woke from her slumber and nudged the man.
“Kenneth Yates, that’s probably the nurse making her rounds. You get the door.” Kenneth Yates opened his sleepy eyes, put on his shirt, and went to open it.
The nurse outside the door was completely flustered when she saw Kenneth Yates. ’Yesterday, there was only one patient, Summer Lancaster! Why is there another person here today? And more importantly, how is this man so handsome? He looks a little familiar, too.’
“You must be here for your rounds. Please, come in!” Seeing it was a nurse, Kenneth Yates knew she was there to check on the patient and quickly invited her in.
The bewildered nurse walked into the room, but she suddenly turned around before she even reached the hospital bed.
“You’re Kenneth Yates, aren’t you? The President of the Yates Group! That eligible bachelor every woman wants to marry, right?” The nurse’s eyes lit up. ’No wonder he looked so familiar, it’s him! I have to take a few pictures today to show my colleagues. I actually met every woman’s dream man!’
Summer Lancaster was not happy to hear this. She quickly cut in before Kenneth Yates could speak, “Nurse, he’s my husband.” The nurse turned her head to look at Summer, her face a mask of disbelief.
“That’s right. I’m not some ’eligible bachelor.’ I’m a married man.” Seeing Summer Lancaster get jealous, Kenneth Yates covered his mouth to hide a soft chuckle.
“Ah…” The nurse sounded utterly crestfallen.
The nurse scanned Kenneth Yates from head to toe. His clothes clearly indicated he had spent the night. ’Does that mean he’s really married? Really married to this woman? WAHH! How many women in Aeston are going to have their hearts broken all at once today?’
