Kenneth Yates lingered on the rope ladder for a long time, his eyes fixed on the man below. Only when he could no longer see him did he finish climbing into the helicopter.

“You’re the bomb, alright. A ’Cosmic Casanova’ bomb.” Felix Locke finally cut in, unable to take it anymore. He then turned to Kenneth Yates. “Boss, are you hurt?”

“Noel Lynch can’t lay a finger on me!”

“What the hell is that guy’s problem with you, anyway? He keeps coming after you again and again. Boss, let’s just call The Mafia and have them wipe him out!” Dominic Thorne clamored, always one to stir the pot. But inside, he was seething with hatred for Noel Lynch. ’He dared to hurt Ronan. That’s unforgivable. I’ll make him pay for it.’

“I’ll handle the feud between us myself,” Kenneth Yates said, his gaze turning icy as he stared out the window. “But for hurting Ronan… I’m going to make him pay.”

“Oh, right. How’s Ronan? You all seem pretty relaxed, so I’m guessing his injuries aren’t too serious?”

“They’re not life-threatening, but he still hasn’t woken up. Maybe he just needs to rest… or maybe he doesn’t want to face Sean Murphy. He gets withdrawn for days every time he sees Sean. I honestly don’t know what to do about those two.” Felix Locke’s expression was full of worry. ’Their situation isn’t as simple as the bond between us brothers. “He’ll wake up for Sean Murphy.”

“I hope so.”

“You and Sean Murphy will stay here and look after Ronan. Dominic and I are flying home tomorrow.”

“Boss, what’s the rush? You’ve been locked up for days. Aren’t you exhausted? You should rest for a bit before we go,” Dominic Thorne said, concerned for Kenneth Yates’s health. ’He probably hasn’t slept at all these past few days.’

“I’m fine. I can manage. We’re returning home tomorrow.” ’He was, in fact, exhausted, but he was desperate to see her. He had no idea how she was doing. Noel Lynch had taken his phone long ago, so there was no way to call her. Had her injury healed yet? Knowing her, she was probably already back at the office, working hard.’ As Kenneth Yates pictured her at work, the corners of his mouth lifted into a small smile.

As they entered the house, Sean Murphy rushed to greet them. “Boss, are you alright?”

“I’m fine. Where’s Ronan? I’m going to check on him.”

“He’s in his room.” Sean’s expression was fraught with worry. There had been no change in Ronan’s condition; it was the same as before. His vital signs were stable, but he simply wouldn’t wake up. Sean had tried talking to him, telling him stories from their childhood in the hopes that he might hear, but there had been no response.

“Well, I’ll go get dinner started then,” Felix Locke said. He was the resident homemaker of the group; ever since he’d arrived, he’d taken charge of all the meals.
