Chapter 110: The rumored tension.
Chapter 110: The rumored tension.
Shen Fangzhi sniffed disdainfully. He glared at Yuening and then Shen Deng. Finally, he looked at Weijun. “Are you going to let her talk to me like this? Did you not hear her call us idiots?”
Nan Yiyi squeezed tears from her eyes. “Bullies, you are all bullies. I am going to tell Jianguo.”
Liwu rolled her eyes. “And what will Jianguo do?” She shook her upper body. “Wuuu, we are shivering. We are so scared. The almighty Jianguo is coming.” She dangled her handcuffs, “Let him come. I can’t wait to meet him. I hope he pays his taxes faithfully.”
Someone sniggered.
Shen Fangzhi’s family became angrier. Their faces darkened. Madame Xu scoffed. That’s right, with my daughter-in-law here, let’s see what you can do. She thought
Grand aunt Yuening leaned back, her small frame radiating authority. “Fangzhi, take your family and leave. If we have a change of heart, you will hear from us. Until then, continue living your life as Nan’s and we will continue living as Shen’s.”
Butler Chen gestured at the bodyguards waiting outside the door. Mo Xia rushed in ahead of them, they each caught a member of Fangzhi’s family by arm and started pulling them out.
They screamed. They cursed. But they were dragged out.
“This is not over.” Shen Fangzhi promised angrily.
For now, it was over and one by one, everyone left the hall. Most were already running late for work, including Liwu.

As soon as she arrived at the precinct, Linlin pulled her into the break room, sending out some junior officers that were having breakfast. “Reed dumped her!”
Liwu blinked. “Who?”
“Cuihua.” Linlin hissed. “The new officer that was flirting with Reed. The tall flirtatious Spaniard man that works for your husband.”
Liwu walked to the coffee machine and made a vocal order. The machine whirred to life, an arm extended from it and placed the cup where it should go. Then, hot coffee was delivered.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Linlin asked her.
Liwu sat down, with shrug. “You know that I have zero interest in the private lives of others unless I am investigating them. Besides, Cuihua is an adult, she knew what she was getting into.”
Linlin groaned. “You are boring.”
Liwu grinned slyly, “That is not what my husband said last night.”
Her partner gasped. Her eyes went so wide that for a moment, she looked like a cartoon! “Spill. Don’t you dare leave me hanging after saying something like that. I want all the details. What did you do? When did you do it? Who initiated it and in what position were you?”
Liwu sipped her coffee, hissing softly at the heat. “I want a bun. Lotus seed paste.” She murmured, ignoring the gluttonous desire for gossip seeping out of her partner’s pores.
“I hate you.” Linlin rolled her eyes.
Liwu laughed.
“Fine, if you won’t discuss your love life, then let us talk about He Xiao Yi. Why do you think he is here?” Linlin decided to move on.
An officer entered the break room, took something from the large fridge and left. During that time, none of the women said a word.
As soon as he left, Linlin leaned in, covering most of the space on the small table. “He personally requested for the transfer. Did you know that? Why was it arranged as if your mom sent him?”
The questions Linlin asked, Liwu had no answer to. It had always been hard to guess what was going on in her mother’s head. The woman was the biggest vault of secrets in the universe. In fact, people often joked that she knew where all the skeletons on everything in the country were buried. Which was a gross exaggeration. None the less, over the years, her mother had survived a fee kidnappings from groups that wanted the information in her head.
So, why she sent He Xiao Yi to the team, despite knowing that Liwu did not like him, was a mystery. But, if Tai Alix was asked, her answer would be simple: He Xiao Yi was a genius profiler with a system and every team needed one.
“I think he came here for you.” Linlin suggested.
Liwu almost spilled her coffee. She coughed a few times, patting her chest. “I almost choked Linlin,” she complained. “Next time, save the jokes for when I am not sipping a hot liquid.”
As she handed Liwu tissues, Linlin continued. “You have to admit, he has always had a soft spot for you. He seems to enjoy the bickering whenever you two work together. Then there is that tension….”
“What tension?” Xuanji asked, strolling casually into the break room for coffee.
“Nothing.” Liwu shouted.
But Linlin blurted, “The tension between Liwu and He Xiao Yi. Back in Beijing, everyone kind of expected them to date. If it was not for her bad luck, they would have a baby by now.”
Liwu rose, with her cup. “The only tension between me and He Xiao Yi is the one that comes when he acts like he knows better than anyone else.”
“But I do know better than everyone else.” He Xiao Yi declared smugly. He made his way to the coffee machine, his cologne swaying past everyone’s nostrils.
As always, he wore a sharp suit, maroon today. His hair was perfectly styled, with a shine to it like he had just seen a hair dresser.
“See, tense already,” Liwu declared. “You are a police detective Xiao Yi, why must your hair look like that?”
He Xiao Yi turned around, coffee cup in both hands, smirk on his lips. “Because I care about my personal hygiene Bad luck Tai. Some of us wash our hair more than three times a week.”
Liwu sneered. “Do you also sit when you pee?” Liwu retorted.
He Xiao Yi laughed. “You don’t even have a good come back. Why bother Bad Luck Tai?” He looked at Xuanji. “Are you keeping score?”
Xuanji waved a notebook and pen. “Arrogant profiler 50. Bad luck detective 32.” He had been keeping score of the verbal exchanges between Liwu and He Xiao Yi from the police university to date.
The first to 100 would pay the other 1000 yuan!
“No, Liwu won this round.” Linlin declared.
Chief Abby suddenly dashed into the room with a file. “What are my best detectives doing in here? Xiao Yi, have you told Liwu about the case?”
“What case?” Liwu asked.
“Ooops.” He Xiao Yi said lazily. His deliberate smile was a sign of his obvious sabotage.
“I am going to kill you.” Liwu threatened.
Chief Abby thrust the file into Liwu’s hands. “On your own time, right now, you have an entire room of higher ups to update on the case.”
Liwu remained confused. “What case?”
