Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Rendezvous
It was now only an hour until boarding, so they wouldn’t have to wait long.
Jessie Sterling ordered an orange coffee, then looked at the people beside her. “Do you all want anything to drink?”
The film crew following her couldn’t possibly let their boss spend money on them, so they quickly waved their hands in refusal.
“Get something hot to warm you up. Whatever you want, it’s my treat,” Jessie Sterling insisted, not letting them refuse.
Only then did the staff go to place their orders.
It was at this moment that Tanya, at some point, had also made it through security.
Although she was a celebrity and had a decent amount of online buzz, she was no match for a massively popular star like Jade Moyer.
So, not yet mobbed by fans, Tanya immediately put her mask on after clearing security.
“Boss!” The moment Tanya saw Jessie Sterling, she immediately went up to the second floor. After walking over, she called out to Jessie in a low voice.
The cameras were still rolling nearby, so she couldn’t be too obvious about revealing her boss’s identity.
Jessie said, “You’re here? What do you want to drink? Order with everyone else, I’m paying.”
She knew the show’s format. Once they got off the plane and reached their destination, spending money wouldn’t be this easy.
Live for today. While she could still spend freely, Jessie Sterling certainly wasn’t going to hold back.
Tanya already knew her boss’s personality, so she didn’t stand on ceremony and ordered an iced Americano.
“Boss, what should I call you later?” Tanya asked, pulling her stool a little closer to Jessie Sterling. “Otherwise… how about I just call you Sis Jessie?”
Jessie replied, “Whatever you want.”
“Then Sis Jessie it is! It sounds a bit more familiar,” Tanya said.
“Looks like Jade Moyer got away,” Tanya said, craning her neck to look downstairs and reporting the latest development to Jessie.
Just as she said that, Jade Moyer happened to feel someone’s gaze on him. He instinctively looked up, and his eyes met Tanya’s mid-air.
Then, the next moment, Tanya saw Jade Moyer wave at her.
Tanya exclaimed, “…Ah, he actually knows who I am?!” Tanya was a little excited. Although Jade Moyer had only debuted two years ago, he was clearly a senior in the industry compared to a complete newcomer like her, who had just graduated from acting school this year with no prior works.
Even though there wasn’t much of an age difference between them.
Jessie Sterling was in the middle of texting Quincy Sterling. Quincy had just found out that she had actually gone off to participate in a reality TV show and was now rolling her eyes on the other end of the line.
Quincy asked if she was just using work as an excuse for a vacation. Others might not know her, but didn’t she know what kind of person Jessie Sterling was? It was obvious at a glance that she had joined the show just because she wanted to go have fun.
Jessie Sterling didn’t argue. In fact, what her family’s number two had said really hit the nail on the head. Not a single word was wrong.
Now, hearing Tanya’s voice and seeing her exceptionally excited expression, Jessie Sterling couldn’t help but laugh. “Isn’t that normal? You’re a little famous yourself now. Shouldn’t he know who you are?”
Tanya covered her face, as if embarrassed by Jessie’s words. “I’m not that amazing yet.”
“Who knows what the future holds? You’ve only just debuted and you’re already quite well-known. You’re doing better than a lot of people,” Jessie said.
Hearing this, Tanya slowly lowered her hands. She looked at her relaxed-looking boss sitting across from her and remarked with feeling, “Boss, has anyone ever told you that you’re really easy to get along with? You give off really great emotional support.”
At her school, many students were scouted and signed by big companies before they even graduated. She had heard from the upperclassmen about what bosses in the entertainment industry were really like.
But none of the things the upperclassmen described seemed to apply to her boss.
Jessie Sterling laughed. “Well, you’d better make a lot of money for me, then. Or else, hmph hmph!” As she spoke, she showed Tanya her fist.
Tanya burst out laughing.
Jade Moyer heard Tanya’s laughter just as he was walking up.
He first greeted Tanya, then looked at Jessie Sterling with some curiosity.
Although he had looked up the guests who would be filming the show with him beforehand, it was perfectly normal for Jade Moyer not to recognize someone like Jessie Sterling, a guest who didn’t even have a single side-profile photo online. Plus, there were no nameplates in front of them now.
For a moment, he couldn’t tell if Jessie was one of the people filming the show with them or just an acquaintance Tanya had run into at the airport.
Tanya waved at Jade Moyer. “Hi, hi! You’re Mr. Moyer, right? I’m Tanya. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Jade Moyer replied, “Oh, please don’t call me Mr. Moyer. Just call me Jade Moyer. We should be around the same age. I’m two years older than you.”
Tanya said, “Alright then, I’ll just call you by your name.”
After saying that, Tanya pointed to Jessie Sterling beside her. She was just about to say, ’This is my boss,’ but the words caught in her throat. She suddenly caught herself, and what came out instead was, “This is the artist, Little Squid.”
Jade Moyer was, of course, familiar with the name ’Little Squid.’ He nodded at Jessie Sterling. “Hello, Teacher. I’m Jade Moyer.”
“Hello.”
Jade Moyer’s seat was diagonally across from Jessie Sterling. “If Tanya hadn’t introduced you, I would have thought you were an idol, too, Teacher.”
Jessie Sterling smiled. “I’ll take that as a compliment then. You don’t have to call me Teacher. I’m Jessie Sterling, and we’re about the same age. Just call me by my name.”
“Alright, Jessie,” Jade Moyer readily agreed.
The three of them hadn’t been chatting for long when Joanne Warren arrived.
Joanne Warren was almost fifty this year. She had debuted at twenty and had been acting in the country from her youth well into her middle age, her roles shifting from the female lead and second female lead to the protagonist’s mother.
She still had quite a few works in recent years, remained active on screen, and was very well-known.
So, the moment she appeared, Jessie, Tanya, and Jade recognized her at a glance.
“Ms. Warren,” the group greeted her.
Joanne Warren smiled in response. “You can even call me Auntie Warren.”
“Haha, I’d better stick with Elena, then. Elena, you look about the same age as my own sister. Calling you ’Auntie’ doesn’t feel right,” Jade Moyer said.
Joanne Warren pointed a finger at him, but her gaze quickly shifted to Jessie Sterling.
Of course, Joanne Warren knew her own boss. But since they were on the show, she could only give Jessie Sterling a subtle nod.
The four of them chatted for a little while longer before it was time to board.
Luckily, all four of them were seated in the same row, making it easy to talk after getting on the plane.
“There are eight people in total this time, but it seems there are only five rooms. We’ll definitely have to share,” Tanya said.
“What? You guys already know how many rooms there are? As expected of a variety show produced by your own company, Apex. Does this count as inside information?” Jade Moyer asked in a low voice.
