Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Innocent
Jessie Sterling hadn’t expected to spend so little time diving on her honeymoon. In fact, she had only gone deep-sea diving twice.
Her whole body was aching, leaving her with little energy.
But back on the boat, Jessie Sterling imported the video Victor Morgan had filmed from behind her with the action camera. When she saw herself chasing schools of fish and even dancing with sharks, that little bit of dissatisfaction in her heart melted away.
She had no idea Victor Morgan even had a divemaster certification, or that he was so proficient in these kinds of extreme sports.
After showering and changing, Jessie Sterling lounged on the sofa, organizing the photos and videos on her phone, while Victor Morgan packed their luggage.
“Victor Morgan, when did you learn to dive? And get so many certifications?” Jessie Sterling asked, a little curious.
“Back in school,” Victor Morgan said. He thought for a moment. “Want to go skiing? When we have time over the New Year, should we go? Not too far, just to The Aridlands. It’s a short flight.”
Jessie Sterling nodded eagerly. She had been organizing her photo album, but now she found herself staring, completely captivated, at Victor Morgan packing clothes nearby.
Victor Morgan could, of course, feel Jessie Sterling’s gaze on him. He looked up with a smile. “Something else?”
Jessie Sterling: “…”
She certainly wasn’t about to admit she’d been mesmerized by the sight of her husband. She said casually, “You’re not quite what I imagined.”
“Oh?”
Jessie Sterling: “When I first heard from my dad that I was going to marry you, I actually thought that being married to you would be incredibly boring.”
Victor Morgan looked up at Jessie Sterling.
Jessie Sterling felt a tiny bit guilty. She huffed, “Well, it’s true! You’re such an old-fashioned guy you don’t even have a photo online! It’s perfectly normal for me to have had concerns, okay? I even had my second brother do some digging, and he said you’re a workaholic, just like him and my dad. A life like that would be so dull.”
Victor Morgan: “…”
He actually found work to be quite fulfilling. The thrill of battle in the business world was very interesting to him. As for making money, that wasn’t as important; it had become an added bonus.
“And now?” Victor Morgan asked.
Jessie Sterling lifted her chin slightly, a hint of her natural pride showing through, looking like a smug little peacock. “It’s alright, I guess. Tolerable. A tiny bit more interesting than I imagined.”
After saying that, she reached out and pinched her index finger and thumb together, repeating solemnly, “Just a tiny bit.”
Victor Morgan lowered his head and chuckled.
On the way back, Victor Morgan didn’t fly directly to Aethelburg, but landed in Southaven instead.
When Jessie Sterling found out, she looked at him in surprise. “We’re going back to Southaven?”
Victor Morgan nodded. “We haven’t been back in a while. We should go see my parents first.”
In reality, it had only been a week, which was a short time for both Victor Morgan and Jessie Sterling. But his words made Jessie Sterling laugh out loud.
“Not bad.” Jessie Sterling gave him a thumbs-up while leaning against his chest.
For the past few days, Victor Morgan had been very well-behaved at night, not making a single move on Jessie Sterling.
Hearing this, a dark glint flashed in Victor Morgan’s eyes. He reached out and began to play with Jessie Sterling’s fingers. Every part of her was soft, and her fingers were no exception. He gave them a gentle squeeze, then lowered his head. His warm breath ghosted over her ear as he whispered seductively, “So, if my dear wife thinks I’ve been good these past few days, does that mean I’ve passed the test?”
As he spoke, Victor Morgan’s other hand grasped Jessie Sterling’s slender waist and pressed her firmly against him.
She immediately felt the change in his body, clear as day.
Jessie Sterling’s face flushed. Of course she knew what he meant.
“Once we’re back, my parents will be home…” Victor Morgan kissed the nape of her neck.
Jessie Sterling’s breathing grew unsteady. “Then you have to… agree to one condition…”
“Hm?”
“I want… I want to stay in Southaven for a couple more days,” Jessie Sterling said, biting her lower lip, struggling to keep her voice from trembling.
Victor Morgan’s movements paused. “To do what?”
“It’s about Lynn Jennings.” Jessie Sterling thought about the messages she’d sent Lynn Jennings over the past few days, which had all gone unanswered. “I have to ask Lynn about that man we saw the other night and get a clear answer.”
Victor Morgan frowned. If Jessie Sterling hadn’t brought them up now, he would have completely forgotten about those two.
“Do you have to go?” Victor Morgan asked.
Jessie Sterling: “Not necessarily, but also, Christmas is coming up. If I go straight to Aethelburg, Lynn will be working, and we’ll have much less time to see each other this year. Since we’re going back anyway, and it’ll be the weekend, I want to see her a bit more.”
Of course, Victor Morgan didn’t want Jessie Sterling to stay in Southaven for two extra days just for another woman, but looking at the person in his arms tilting her head up to look at him, he couldn’t help but soften.
And once he softened, he agreed.
“Alright. Should I come pick you up then?” Victor Morgan asked.
“No, no, I can come back on my own,” Jessie Sterling said with a grin. ’That way,’ she thought, ’I can be a little flexible and extend my stay if I want to.’
Victor Morgan had no idea what she was plotting. He lowered his head and kissed her lips. “Then tonight…”
Jessie Sterling had already flipped over to sit on Victor Morgan’s lap, facing him.
She lowered her head and deliberately bit down hard on his Adam’s apple, sucking until a cherry-pink mark appeared.
“When you go back to Aethelburg alone, what if some vixen sees you’re by yourself? I have to leave a mark so everyone knows, right?” Jessie Sterling tilted her head up to look at Victor Morgan, speaking with an air of absolute righteousness.
Provoked like this, and gazing at Jessie Sterling’s full, moist, rosy lips, how could Victor Morgan possibly maintain any self-control? He lowered his head and captured the very tool of her mischief.
When his hand slid under her skirt and he felt an unusual thickness between his fingertips, Victor Morgan’s movements froze.
At the same time, Jessie Sterling scrambled off him.
“HAHAHA—”
She roared with laughter.
On this trip, she had forgotten things like her menstrual cup and had bought sanitary pads locally.
And today just happened to be the day her period started.
Victor Morgan looked at the person beside him, who was now doubled over with laughter. The veins on his forehead bulged from his body’s reaction. “Fun, is it?” At this point, how could he not understand that Jessie Sterling had done all of this on purpose?
Jessie Sterling turned her head, looking at him with a beaming smile and a very innocent expression.
She spread her hands towards Victor Morgan. “There’s nothing I can do about it.”
Victor Morgan stared into Jessie Sterling’s eyes and suddenly smiled. “It’s not like there’s *nothing* we can do…”
As he said this, Victor Morgan suddenly reached out and grabbed her small, soft hand.
