Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Honeymoon (2)
“We’re still outside!” Jessie blurted out anxiously.
Victor Morgan laughed out loud again. “It’s fine. The crew won’t leave their workstations, so no one will be on deck.”
Jessie: “!!!”
Just then, a GURGLE reached both of their ears.
Victor Morgan froze for a moment. But once Jessie realized what that sound was, all the blood in her body seemed to boil and rush to her face.
“Hahaha—”
Victor Morgan finally let her go, but his laughter filled Jessie’s ears completely.
“Let’s eat first,” Victor Morgan said, looking at Jessie with a smile. The amusement in his eyes was impossible to hide.
Jessie, however, was already bright red with embarrassment. She wished she could find a hole to crawl into and pretend no one could see her.
’This is so embarrassing!’
Jessie thought.
’Who could have guessed that my stomach would protest at a time like this!’
Fuming, Jessie scrambled out of Victor Morgan’s arms. As she did, she didn’t forget to turn back and shoot him a fierce glare. “What’s so funny?”
Of course, Victor Morgan didn’t answer. He simply held out the grilled shrimp sandwich to Jessie.
Jessie: “…”
’So mad, but I can’t even figure out what to be mad about…’
Her gaze fell on the fresh grilled shrimp. Jessie took the sandwich and took a huffy bite. It was all Victor Morgan’s fault for backing down so quickly; now she didn’t even know what she was angry about anymore.
Jessie wasn’t one to eat quietly. Seeing Victor Morgan looking at his phone instead of talking, she grew dissatisfied. She shuffled over to him and pouted. “What are you looking at? Are you still working even though we’re out at sea?”
Despite what she said, Jessie had no intention of peeking at Victor Morgan’s phone.
But upon hearing her, Victor Morgan proactively turned his phone toward her.
While muttering, “Who wants to see your phone, anyway?” Jessie’s eyes obediently drifted over. A classic case of saying one thing and meaning another.
When she saw clearly what Victor Morgan was looking at, the corners of her mouth slowly curled up high.
“Oh, so you’re not working,” Jessie said, trying to sound serious, but she couldn’t suppress the curve of her lips at all.
“I don’t talk business when I’m on vacation.”
Jessie started to inch back to her spot. “Well, you go on and keep looking then.”
Victor Morgan’s phone wasn’t showing a business discussion with anyone. Instead, the man was actually searching online for how to take the best-looking photos of his wife.
The thought of him earnestly watching tutorials on the side made Jessie want to laugh.
Jessie didn’t make it back to her seat before Victor Morgan’s hand came down on her shoulder, holding her in place.
“Where are you going?” Victor Morgan’s eyebrow twitched slightly. “Care to give some pointers, Ms. Sterling?”
Jessie: “…”
’I have to admit, smart people really do seem to learn everything quickly and pick things up fast.’
Jessie openly posted a few of the photos Victor Morgan had taken—which had a strong “boyfriend’s-point-of-view” vibe—to their small group chat.
After seeing them, Quincy Sterling replied, “Brother-in-law’s skills aren’t bad.” As for Lynn Jennings, she hadn’t appeared at all.
Hugging her phone, Jessie wondered if she was overthinking it, but she had a strong feeling that the reason Lynn Jennings hadn’t replied was that she was with that stranger Jessie had accidentally seen her with the night before last.
Leaning against a throw pillow, Jessie was plotting how she was going to “interrogate” Lynn Jennings when they got back when a shadow suddenly fell over her.
“Still spacing out? Not going for a dive?”
Victor Morgan had already changed. The yacht had stopped, surrounded by a sea as clear as glass. Looking down, you could see all sorts of creatures on the seafloor at a glance.
Jessie snapped back to her senses and looked up with a small “Ah!” Her gaze ultimately landed on Victor Morgan’s bare chest.
She blinked, her ears turning red. “I-I know…” Jessie stood up from the sofa, but maybe because the yacht was now stopped and rocking gently with the waves, she lost her footing and nearly stumbled sideways.
In that instant, a large hand grabbed her arm, and the off-balance Jessie stumbled right into Victor Morgan’s chest.
Her hands were now pressed against his upper body.
A subtle, crisp woody scent filled Jessie’s senses, but she didn’t have time to get used to this unfamiliar fragrance. Right now, her entire focus was on the sensation under her hands.
’Seems… pretty firm, huh?’
The thought had just popped into Jessie’s mind when Victor Morgan’s voice came from above her—
“Still touching?”
“Ah!” Jessie immediately sprang back, shaking her head and vehemently denying it. “I was not!”
Victor Morgan didn’t press the issue, simply gesturing for her to go get changed.
Jessie said, “Oh,” then added, “Turn around first.”
The yellow, resort-style maxi dress she was wearing was actually a set.
The outer layer was just a thin, shimmering gauze, while underneath was a light yellow one-piece swimsuit with an asymmetrical shoulder. It had a cutout at the waist with a metal ring that seemed to connect the top and bottom.
“Okay.” Jessie slipped off the outer dress, tied up her hair, and signaled that Victor Morgan could turn around.
She was naturally fair-skinned, and in the months before the wedding, she hadn’t gone diving in places like Azure Deep or The Crimson Sea with Lynn Jennings as she used to. As a result, her skin was a few shades paler than before.
When Victor Morgan turned around, his gaze lingered on Jessie for a moment before he looked away.
“Let’s go,” he said in a low voice.
Jessie had gotten her A-license with Lynn Jennings back in Southaven, so snorkeling was no challenge for her, and she didn’t need a dive guide. What she hadn’t expected was that Victor Morgan also knew how to dive. The man didn’t even use a mouthpiece or anything and could hold his breath underwater for over five minutes.
Surfacing from the water again, Jessie couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up to Victor Morgan, who was trailing behind her taking photos.
She shook the seawater from her hair, sending crystal-clear droplets flying everywhere. “President Morgan, want me to take a picture for you?”
In the friendly spirit of give-and-take, Jessie had no intention of letting Victor Morgan be her personal photographer the whole time.
Just as she said this, she saw the man, who was about five or six meters away, suddenly dive headfirst into the water.
Victor Morgan swam incredibly fast underwater. Even without fins, he moved like a fish, graceful and free.
Jessie saw a figure speeding toward her. She had barely blinked when suddenly, with a SPLASH, the underwater figure broke the surface right in front of her.
Victor Morgan’s face appeared before her, as if magnified.
The next second, Jessie felt a large hand take a firm hold of her body in the water.
