Victor Morgan was still sitting in his study, a pair of blue-light-blocking, half-frame glasses perched on his nose. When he heard his phone chime, Victor took off the glasses with one hand and picked it up.

Seeing Jessie Sterling’s reply, Victor Morgan typed out a quick “Mm” before adding, “Don’t pay any mind to what they’re saying online.”

Jessie Sterling had no idea that Victor Morgan had already set his lawyers to work suing the most vocal participants of the cyberbullying incident, one by one. A smile lit up her eyes. “I was a little angry at first, but not anymore! It’s not like they can bad-mouth me now anyway!”

When Victor Morgan saw her reply, he let out a soft chuckle.

Lynn Jennings watched her friend grinning foolishly at her phone. Shaking her head, speechless, she reached out and poked Jessie Sterling on the forehead.

“The way you’re grinning like an idiot, I’d almost think you’ve fallen for him,” Lynn Jennings said bluntly.

“No way!” Jessie Sterling’s expression changed in a flash, though her face was starting to blush. “We’ve barely even met! Besides, am I that shallow?”

Lynn Jennings leaned back on the sofa. “What’s so bad about being shallow? I love young, handsome guys.”

Jessie Sterling: “…”

The young heiress, being terrible at arguing, rarely won this kind of debate.

A couple of seconds later, Lynn Jennings watched the young heiress get up, her slippers pitter-pattering as she headed for the bathroom.

Before she left, the young heiress’s indignant “hmpf” still lingered in the air.

Lynn Jennings couldn’t help but laugh.

It was only after Jessie went to wash up that Lynn Jennings reopened her email on her computer.

It was a colleague from the company. The assistant’s phone wasn’t flooded with messages like Wendy Lawson’s, so the moment she opened WeChat, the urgent news was the first thing she saw.

Wendy Lawson raised an eyebrow. “What is it now?”

Just as the assistant was about to say something, Wendy’s phone suddenly rang.

Wendy saw the caller ID and immediately answered.

“Hello? Boss?”

The nearby assistant’s ears perked up. The only person the agency’s top star, Wendy Lawson, called “Boss” was their actual boss.
