Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Honeymoon (1)
Jessie Sterling stared at Victor Morgan for a long moment before bursting into laughter. “Victor, you’re jealous!”
Victor didn’t deny it.
Jessie couldn’t help but feel pleased with herself. She turned and walked toward her room. Once her back was to him, her face broke into a wide smile, the corners of her mouth curving up in a grin she couldn’t suppress.
Jessie had a lot of things, while Victor’s luggage was sparse. She felt like she had just begun packing by the time he was already completely organized.
“Are we really not going to tell Mom and Dad?” Jessie asked, turning her head when she noticed him moving behind her.
“I already have,” Victor replied.
“Huh? When? How did I not know?” Jessie asked in surprise.
Victor glanced at the several large suitcases in her room. ’Even for a four- or five-day trip to The Saros Islands, she manages to pack so many clothes and trinkets,’ he thought. ’I’ll probably have to handle this for her from now on.’
’After all, what space did this young lady have in her brain for such trivial matters? Her head was already completely filled with clothes, dresses, and jewelry.’
“Just now,” Victor replied.
Jessie just said, “Oh,” and didn’t press the matter.
’Besides, when Victor handled things, she had nothing to worry about.’
An hour later, Victor led Jessie onto a private jet.
Even for someone like Victor, a flight path requested at the last minute meant they couldn’t take off immediately. But the timing worked out well; after a flight of a dozen or so hours, they would arrive at The Saros Islands just in time to see the sunrise.
Since it was their own plane, Jessie didn’t feel too worn out and decided to get some beauty sleep first.
Victor spent the flight catching up on work. By the time they deplaned the next day, drove to the coast, and boarded their yacht, the sun was just beginning its slow ascent from the horizon.
Jessie had slept for nearly twenty hours on the plane. She had already decorated the cabin to her liking, eliminating any of the usual discomforts of travel.
Jessie had changed into a sundress before deplaning. As she stepped onto the yacht, she gazed at the stunning expanse of blue before her and couldn’t help but sigh, “It’s so beautiful!”
Victor walked over with a bottle of juice. “Have something to eat first.”
It had been too early on the plane, and Jessie hadn’t wanted to eat a thing. So, after they boarded the yacht, Victor had arranged for the chef to prepare breakfast.
“In a minute,” Jessie said, standing on the deck. She cupped her chin in her hand, watching the scenery as the wind blew past.
’Even if she came a hundred or a thousand times, she’d never get tired of the sea at The Saros Islands,’ she thought. ’Even someone who isn’t an island fanatic like Lynn Jennings could easily fall in love with the ocean here.’
Seeing that Jessie was completely absorbed in the view, Victor simply picked up the breakfast tray and walked over to her by the railing.
There was a sofa on the yacht’s deck. Victor had just sat down when Jessie turned and shoved her phone into his hand. “I want you to take some pictures of me.”
Victor glanced at the breakfast. “Eat first?” he suggested.
Jessie pressed her lips together. “You take my picture, then I’ll eat.”
Faced with her bargaining, Victor had no choice but to stand up and raise the phone.
Jessie leaned against the railing, her bare feet planted on the sofa cushion. Her long, daffodil-yellow sundress billowed freely in the wind.
Jessie directed him to crouch down for a better angle, and Victor followed her instructions without a hint of impatience.
“Are you done? Let me see,” Jessie said, reaching for the phone from her perch on the sofa.
Victor handed it to her.
Jessie glanced down at it, then looked up and thrust the screen in front of Victor’s face, her cheeks puffed out in indignation. “You be the judge. Does this look good to you?”
Victor remained perfectly unfazed. “Is it not?”
“Of course it’s not! Look at the pictures Lynn takes of me! The two of you are like night and day!” Jessie huffed, starting to search for the old photos Lynn had taken.
But just as Jessie sat down in a huff, Victor reached out and pulled her straight into his embrace.
’He’d wanted to do this the whole time he was taking her picture.’
’When he saw her lean against the railing and tuck her hair behind her ear, his gaze had been fixed on her, unable to look away for even a second.’
’She was like a gust of wind, and he wanted to catch it in the palm of his hand.’
So now, Victor pulled her directly onto his lap, lowered his head, and pressed a kiss to her brow.
Perhaps it was the gentleness of the kiss, but Jessie, who had been about to complain, froze completely. She was like a silly little lamb caught in the rain, able only to stare blankly at the man before her.
Victor found her expression utterly adorable and let out a soft chuckle. His kisses began to fall like a dense summer shower, peppering her face.
The orange glow of the rising sun enveloped the two as they kissed on the deck. The sound of the waves seemed to muffle the soft moans coming from the sofa.
Victor’s kiss deepened, and his hand slipped under the hem of Jessie’s long dress, closing around her leg.
It felt impossibly slender in his grasp.
But Jessie had never experienced anything like this. She squirmed uneasily in his arms, not realizing her movements were only provoking an even less controllable reaction from the man holding her.
“Don’t squirm,” Victor said, one hand gripping her leg while the other settled on her waist, holding her still.
His voice had grown deep, and his eyes held a complex mixture of desire and restraint, swirling like a deep pool that was utterly mesmerizing.
Out on the open sea, Victor was no longer in the formal attire from the wedding reception. He had changed into an athletic shirt and board shorts, and the thin fabric did little to block the feeling of her thigh pressing against him.
Jessie’s face flushed crimson in an instant. She ducked her head, refusing to meet his gaze.
“What has gotten into you!” Jessie complained, disgruntled.
Victor let out a low chuckle, but the pressure of the hand resting on her leg increased slightly.
His lightly calloused palm couldn’t resist caressing her milky-smooth skin. He felt her tremble in his arms and saw her bite her lip to keep from making a sound. Only then did Victor lower his head, his lips brushing against her ear as he murmured, “Then… will you help me?”
He wouldn’t be a man if he didn’t have a reaction at a time like this.
Jessie never expected Victor to become even more shameless than before. She immediately started to struggle out of his embrace.
