Chapter 204: Do you still love him

Braelyn’s POV

“The car keys. ” I demanded. I just wanted to get away from here as fast as I could. Hoping maybe after the drive I could think better and not the jumble mess that was in my head right now.

He was stunned but hesitantly released the keys..I grip it tightly. “I hate you Raphael. ” I said.

His eyes closed, as if the words physically hurt.

I stepped back, putting space between us. “This means nothing, Raphael, until you are ready to speak, and don’t you dare touch Lucien again.”

I turned away, walking towards the car he drove in.

“Braelyn.”

I paused.

“I love you, ” he had the nerve to say that to me now. I didn’t look back, I couldn’t even spare him a glance. I continued moving to the car.

My hands were shaking as I unlocked the vehicle and got in. My hands held the steering wheel tightly. I saw him standing at that spot staring at me.

His gaze was carrying so many complex emotions I didn’t want to deal with right now. A sharp hiss escaped my lips, and I pressed my eyes together, trying to hold myself and stop crumbling.

Shortly, I opened my eyes and without a second thought, I stepped on the accelerator. I used all my bloody strength to move.

The car zoomed off, running through the open gates to the main road. I didn’t give a fuck about the speeding limit. I drove recklessly like I was challenging death itself

Like if I sped fast enough that I could escape the mess. My car zoomed past Lucien’s car. He was parked nearby probably waiting to get a signal or any sign. It was pretty thoughtful of him, but I couldn’t dwell on that fact or anything else aside from what just happened.

Tears burst out of my eyes. How long have I secretly hoped he would say those words? He loved me. All the times I hoped he would spare me a glance and not just look at him

During that period, I felt so alone and helpless. I remembered the night I had specially bought a new Negligee and made a fool of myself

How many times had he hurt me? I could still feel his grip on my neck. He almost killed me. That was funny. People in love don’t hurt each other. But he had hurt me over and over again.

I acted like I didn’t care. I played along every time, but it hurt. He hurt me so deeply that the wound was fresh. God I hated him

I hated him as much as I loved him and that’s a lot. That’s the fact I dread, the fact that I couldn’t let go of our love, which turned sour till now.

I finally had what I dreamt about, but what I felt was far from happiness. It was dread, pain, unease. So many emotions I couldn’t describe, but love wasn’t one of them.

What was wrong with me? The tears kept on pouring. From the rear mirror, Lucien was hot on my tail. He must be worried.

Anger burned my chest. I stepped on the gas, I didn’t even stop at a red light, I drove through, acting extremely reckless. Lucien sped behind me narrowing, escaping the incoming cars from the other lane

It was to protect me, but I couldn’t help but wonder what exactly they were protecting me from. My mind went back to mum’s dairy.

By chance, was it related to Lucien’s mum’s death? But it didn’t make sense. I needed answers, and Raphael was the only one who had them.

Lucien drove to my side. He lowered his window and screamed. Panic was written all over his face.” Pull over!!”

“I can’t!!” I screamed back still driving ahead.

“Viper, I know you are overwhelmed but you can’t risk your life because of him.” He begged me.

“It isn’t worth it.” He pleaded trying to get some sense into my head that refused to listen.

“I am sorry, Lucien.” I cried, shaking my head, then I stepped on the accelerator after rolling up the window.

I drove like a maniac with only one direction in mind. There was only one person left I could go to now. I didn’t want to face either of them right now.

I took a sharp turn at the next T junction and drove straight until I got to Genny’s apartment complex, the high-rise building that shone in the night. I drove straight into the basement to park and ran out of the car

Another car came to a screeching halt. Lucien’s voice boomed behind me as I ran to the elevator.

“Braelyn!!!” He called out, I heard his footsteps behind me, but I didn’t stop. I headed straight for the lift. I pressed the lift button, and as soon as my finger touched it, I felt a pair of warm arms wrap around me from behind.

His cologne wrapped me, his voice was hoarse. “What is happening to you, viper? You are letting him get into you. ” Lucien said.

I drew in a deep breath, “I just need some space..” I muttered. His grip tightened, “Braelyn…”

I cut him off. “Just let me be for tonight Lucien…” my voice hitched.

” I need to get my thoughts together,” he froze.

“Don’t tell me you are considering going back to him after everything?.” He said, his voice heavy and laced with betrayal, as if I was betraying him.

“I still hate him. ” I quietly said, I felt him tremble slightly, “But you still love him.”

“I don’t..” I replied quickly in a heartbeat.

“You are lying. You still love that bastard after everything he did to you.” Lucien said defensively. My heart squeezed, and all I could manage to say was.

“I really hate him. “The elevator slid open, and a pair of curious eyes met us. A lady was surprised to see us standing there but she quickly walked away.

“Please let go.” I pleaded again. A beat passed before he finally freed me then stepped back.

“If that asshole tricks you into getting back with him. I might kill him.” Lucien spat, his voice laced with venom that ran straight to my spine..

I stepped into the elevator, and I refused to turn around until the doors slid shut. The entire time his intense gaze remained on my back.

The lift hummed as it moved up, and light blinked through the gaps as it crossed floors until it got to Genny’s floor. I stepped out onto the floor.

My footsteps echoed down the hallway as I stumbled towards Genny’s door. I stopped at the familiar door number and then pressed the doorbell.

A long breath left my lips. My mind felt clearer. The door clicked open and it was pulled open. My gaze dropped down to a little hobbit with large blue eyes that felt familiar and strawberry blonde hair.

The girl was so cute. I was stunned by her appearance. I even forgot about my problem. She stared at me and screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Mummy there is a beautiful stranger here…”

Ehm…who was her mummy? Did Genny secretly get pregnant behind my back?
