It was my first Christmas in ages without Raphael. There was no annoying family lunch where I had to endure the Volkovs’ drama. Honestly, spending Christmas with Raphael wasn’t bad in the past. Aside from the lunch, it was a day I always looked forward to…

Even when we started growing apart, he never played with Christmas. He satisfied all my whims, including all my silly traditions. He never complained. Not when I woke him at dawn to take PJ pictures, not when I made him throw snowballs.

He agreed to every request, even if it was to watch fireworks at midnight. It was painful thinking back on all those memories. Raphael was genuinely a good husband, and Christmas just reminded me of how much I loved him.

At first, I was sceptical that Christmas with Lucien wouldn’t feel the same, but it turned out that it didn’t matter which man I spent Christmas with. All that mattered was if the man adored me.

Christmas with Lucien was similar and different too. I kept some of the traditions, and he suggested some things. Although Lucien was against the idea of skating because of my pregnancy, he agreed to everything else.

As a bonus, Lucien even taught me how to bake in the morning after we were done taking pictures. He was silly and honest, and I couldn’t wait for next Christmas, when we would have an addition to the family.

Since Lucien was against skating, I compromised and decided to binge-watch Christmas films that night.

The TV was playing, and I was leaning against his chest, shoving snacks into my mouth. The movie was How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It was one of my favourite classics. What I loved more was the fact that it was released the year I was born, 2000.

I had watched it more times than I could count. While I was enjoying every bit of my favourite green introvert on the screen, a certain man wasn’t watching it, and I knew. He was too busy sneaking his hand under my clothes.

I tried to ignore it, but it was hard ignoring his fingers drawing lazy circles on my stomach, sending chills all over my body. Just ignore him, I told myself, determined to enjoy the movie, but Lucien was determined to distract me.

His hand moved higher and started circling my breast. I was wearing a bra, yet I felt every part of his touch. Then, as if annoyed that I was ignoring him, he went ahead to pinch my nipples, which were already hard from his teasing.

A jolt shot straight through me. I pressed my legs together and shot him a glare.

“Lucien…” I snapped at him.

“What is it, Viper?” he asked with the most oblivious expression, knowing fully well what he was doing. His hand was still on the evidence.

“I want to watch the film,” I pouted at him.

He smirked and squeezed my left breast after tormenting my nipple. I bit my lip, trying to keep my reaction in check. My legs were pressed tightly together.

“The TV is on, Viper. I am not stopping you,” he said shamelessly, growing bolder as he lifted my blouse above my chest. My nipples were red and pebbled.

His fingers traced the curve of my breast. His warm breath fanned over my skin. The sensation hit me again, and I moaned softly, my head falling back against the couch.

“You are distracting me…” I hissed, barely able to get the words out.

He gave me that look. I knew he wasn’t up to any good.

“Am I?” he asked before slowly running his tongue over my nipple. The warmth made me gasp. My mind went blank, my toes curling. “How am I distracting you?” he murmured before his mouth fully covered my breast.

His fingers traced along my spine. My breathing slowed, and my hand instinctively reached for his dark locks as he continued, just enough to drive me crazy.

I was in my second trimester, and my breasts were extra sensitive in a maddening way. I could barely hear anything aside from the soft sounds of his lips were making, and my body was reacting more than I wanted to admit. My folds were already dripping and clenching on air.

“We need to watch the movie…” I managed to say, clinging to the last thread of control.

He didn’t stop. Instead, he spoke against my skin.

“Your breasts have gotten fuller…” he murmured, clearly pleased.

I melted under his control. Just when I thought I might completely lose it, his phone started ringing.

Annoyed, he bit me softly but didn’t stop immediately. The phone rang again, louder this time, the caller clearly persistent. I managed to glance at the caller ID and saw it was his assistant.

I tried to keep my voice steady. “You should pick that. It might be important.”

Lucien wasn’t pleased, but he finally pulled back. He glanced at the screen, and a cruel smile curled on his lips.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he muttered, letting out a dry laugh that sent chills down my spine.

He stood up slowly, the tension in his body obvious. I licked my dry lips. Lucien grabbed his phone and stormed away as he answered it. I almost felt bad for the poor assistant.

The cool air hit my skin, making me shudder. I sucked in a deep breath and pulled my blouse back down.

My phone on the coffee table vibrated with a notification, drawing my attention.

Curious, I picked it up, and a chill ran down my spine. It was a text from an unsaved number, but it was one I knew too well…

Raphael: Merry Christmas, Lynn.

I should have ignored the message, but curiosity got the better of me. My fingers moved quickly over the keyboard.

Lynn: How did you get my number?

I was pissed. This was a new number he didn’t know. At least, I thought so.

His reply came immediately.

Raphael: I have my means.

I frowned at the message. An unsettling feeling began to settle in my stomach.

Lynn: What do you want, Raphael? Get straight to the point.

Raphael: Lucien offered a deal for the divorce, and I accept, but under one condition.
