Chapter 110: Waking Up After The Training

Rion lay asleep on a fur bed, and a sharp, acrid smell hit him.

He groggily turned his head and scrunched his nose a few times before his eyelids trembled and his eyes snapped open.

His vision cleared, and his gaze fell on the redwood, dark hide ceiling. He blinked off the sleep and mumbled in a low voice, “An unfamiliar ceiling…”

Right then, a soft, familiar voice reached him.

“Unfamiliar? Are you unwell even after a week?”

He shot up, and his eyes fell on Zaelyane. She was sitting on the chair, and her smoke pipe was grasped in the cage of her slender fingers as she took puffs out of it.

He looked at Zaelyane with a surprised expression and muttered, “Zaelyane?”

She turned her head towards him, and he asked with a deep frown etched on his face, “I’ve been here for a week?”

She nodded, took a puff and answered while the smoke left her cherry lips, “Your father threw you on my bed and told me to take care of you.”

Rion’s frown deepened even further, dark clouds of confusion appeared on his head as he thought, ’How on earth did I sleep for one whole week? Immortal body should’ve recovered all the training fatigue I had within a few hours.’

Seeing his darkening expression, Zaelyane asked, her voice softer than usual, “Are you thinking why it took you a week to wake up?”

He lifted his head, and his eyes shifted towards her as he said, “Yeah… It usually does not take me this long to wake up…”

She let out a low, baffled chuckle and thought, ’He was supposed to wake up after a month, yet he thinks that one week is long? Hah… both father and son are monsters.’

She inwardly shook her head, and her lips parted as she answered, “It took you longer because of your mental fatigue. Your body has an unimaginable amount of life essence, so it heals very quickly, but the same isn’t true for your mind.”

His eyes stirred in understanding, and he gave her a nod before he began to inspect himself.

He clenched his fists, veins bulging under the grip, and he muttered in surprise, “I am much stronger than before…”

Hearing him, a bitter look appeared on Zaelyane’s face, and she mumbled under her breath, “Of course you did… was Haden not enough to declare the difference of talent?” A defeated sigh escaped her, and her lips lifted into a reminiscing smile.

Rion turned his head towards her and asked, “Did you say something?”

She looked at him with various thoughts and emotions hidden behind her green eyes and answered with a shake of her head, “Nothing…”

She leaned back in her chair and placed down her smoking pipe as she asked curiously, “So? What caused you to take hold of my bed for the past seven days?”

Rion knit his brows together and noted inwardly, ’She is talking way more than usual, is she planning something?’

He knew that she needed him for something very important to her because she had used her only chance of trial of regrets on him, but even after he finished the trial, she didn’t tell him.

She was desperate yet patient enough, and that made her appear more than just a beautiful, supposed elf; to him, she was no different than a tiger waiting to leap at its enemies.

He didn’t fear her, but he was cautious about everything she did or said.

He stared into her eyes for a few moments to glean her thoughts, but failed awfully. He sighed inwardly and pushed away his thoughts for now as he answered, “Father taught me a few things…”

“Oh?” Her left eyebrow rose in surprise, and she asked further, “What things?”

He pressed his lips into a thin line and looked into her eyes with a reluctant expression.

Seeing that, she frowned and asked worriedly, “Is something wrong?”

He shook his head and let his will flow freely, the world around him suddenly slowed down, and he could sense anything, but this time, The Zone did not send any useless information, as Rion had denied it from doing so.

He focused on every minuscule movement of her and answered, “While we were sparring, I fell into Limbo, and Father used it to teach me Weapon Sense.”

Her eyes widened in disbelief, she leaned forward and asked while clutching the armrests of her chair, “You’ve learned Weapon Sense?”

His lips arched up into a smile, and he nodded.

An impressed look appeared on her face, and his smile faltered for a single moment before he forced it back.

’Why did she clench her fists?’ He wondered and asked, “So? Are you still not going to tell me what you are?”

The hut fell silent, and she looked at him with various thoughts churning in her head.

A few minutes passed in silence before her defeated sigh crumbled it.

“What’s the point of hiding it when the Remnant is going to attack us next year?”

She brushed her hair and let her ears free as she answered, “You were right, I am neither a human nor a Dhaevrak. My people have held various names: fairies, pixies, spirits. But we call ourselves…”

She stood up from her chair and removed the green gem accessory from her forehead.

His eyes widened, and he muttered while pointing at her forehead, “You… you have three eyes?”

The eyelids of her third eye trembled and opened slowly.

As soon as the eye opened completely, the air around her changed, and a moonstone eye with green spirals came into Rion’s view.

His eyes widened even further, and his lower jaw fell agape, nearly touching the ground as he said, “I-Is this your ult?”

She furrowed the brows of her three eyes in confusion. She ignored his incomprehensible question and her third eye began to emit an otherworldly glow as she added. “Sylvarae.”

He looked at her with stars exploding in his oceanic eyes and mumbled under his breath, “Sylvarae…”

She nodded and said, “The humans also like to call us Elves.”
