Calvus leaned forward, placed his elbows on his thighs, and said in a humorless tone, “I know you stayed for my father’s promise…”

Rion didn’t say anything and just listened to whatever thought his mind had cooked up.

“Yesterday, Sir Salis had gone to the academy and found out that anyone who wishes to take part in the trials can stay within the academy dorms, and seeing Lady Dora’s declining health — I think it would be better for us to stop trying to forcefully enjoy the festivities or the culture we aren’t really part of…”

Rion pressed his lips into a thin line and stared at Calvus with a sombre expression.

“My lord… She also knows your childhood —she would understand. Do not do things the way you do not want to, the only times you have enjoyed anything is when Lady Dora was with you… Please, consider my request,” Calvus stated as he stood up from his seat and walked out of the room.

Jamie and Salis gave him a final glance before they also followed behind their young master.

Once all of them left, Rion leaned back in his seat and mumbled under his breath, “Heh. Am I that easy to read?”

He rubbed his hands on his face, heaved a deep sigh, and mumbled with a determined glint in her eyes, “Yeah, Calvus is right, let’s stop acting like everything’s fine…”

He stood up from his seat and allowed his will to expand as much as possible.
