Rion stood at the heart of the crater, and the spear rested on his shoulder.

’I had to use one tenth of my aura to do that,’ he mumbled in thought as his gaze swept across deeper parts of the purple fog forest, and more kareths came into his vision.

His lips fell into a frown, and he mumbled, “How is it able to control them so efficiently?”

For the past few months, he had searched the periphery for as many kareth as possible, and even then, he had never found this many of them.

The kareth lord had to be either five-horned or six-horned, but he didn’t believe that level of strength was enough to control so many of them and that too so efficiently…

He shook his head away from those thoughts and breathed, “I should focus on lowering the number of three-horned or above.”

His expression turned serious as he searched for more three-horned kareths, but much to his surprise, there were none of them.

Confusion dampened his face, and he muttered, “This wave is weaker than before?”

His expression darkened even further as a senseless thought appeared in his mind, and the words escaped him before he could stop them: “Is it trying to tire us?”

He furrowed his brows and scanned the horde one more time using his Predator’s Eyes, but the result was the same.

There were no three-horned kareths.

“How is this possible?” He whispered, his eyes heavy in disbelief.

Kareth were gluttons, mindless beasts that killed whatever was alive and sucked their life essence to strengthen themselves. They were creatures that were defiled by the purple miasma of the corrupted abysmal flame and had no reason. So even a strategy this simple should’ve been impossible for them.

“I could be wrong…” he stammered and focused his vision at the far end, but all he could see was the thin purple fog and a land with no life or death.

“I’ll have my answers after meeting it.”

Right then, a two-horned kareth lunged at him.

He pointed a finger gun at it and muttered with a smile, “Pew!”

Just as those words left his lips, a bright green aura-clad arrow pierced right through the kareth’s core.

He peeked at Dora, who was barely keeping herself standing, and yelled in his head, ’Just rest already!’

He exhaled dejectedly. “I can’t just force her to rest…”

Suddenly, shrieks and roars of various kareth reached his ears as they finally neared him.

He glared at them with an annoyed expression and mumbled in a grim tone, “She can’t rest because you bastards keep coming out.”

He tightened his grip around the shaft of his spear, and golden aura flames began to dance at its tip.

He poured all of his annoyance and hate into it and hurled it towards the strongest kareth within the wave.

Boom!

The spear reached it the very next moment, and just as the spear touched the kareth, it exploded into bits. However, instead of falling, the spear turned towards the nearby kareth, and before it could even turn its head towards the spear, it pierced right through its core.

The spear slithered through the wave like a ravenous serpent and pierced all of them in the same way.

Within the slaughter, an euphoric smile stretched across his face as he felt the sensation of ripping apart the kareth because of Heaven’s Vector.

Most of the two-horned were already dead, and he had yet to move from his spot.

The other tribemen, no matter if they were a squad member or a squad leader, had their eyes so wide that they could literally fall out from their sockets.

All of them should’ve been feeling joyous, but his strength didn’t just ignite excitement; it also stirred fear in their hearts.

“How is he doing all of this?”

“Is something like that even possible?”

“What the hell is he…?”

“Is he even a human?”

Everyone mumbled darkly, and their weapons fell out of their hands as a single question burned itself in their mind:

Are we even worthy of fighting with him?

From birth, they were told that everything had a limit, and for most of their lives, it was true; there were a few anomalies now and then, but they also had their own limits.

Everything had a limit. Everything except Rion.

He had become a trainee at the mere age of eight.

Awakened his aura at the age of twelve.

A sub-squad leader at the age of fifteen.

And he had yet to reach that limit.

He wasn’t just an anomaly. He was an anomaly of anomalies.

Rion’s smile cracked, and he looked back at them only to find them staring at him like he was something impossible.

He bit his lower lip in irritation and muttered in thought, ’That’s why I didn’t want to help earlier…’

He was aware of his inhuman strength and how it affected everything around him.

In his past life, he wasn’t just a patient but a patient from a renowned family, many had tried whatever they could to get in his good books — even if that was dangerous for him.

And by having to deal with such people so many times, reading others had become easier for him.

Even though the eyes of the tribesmen before him were way different from those people, he could still understand that they too weren’t looking at the real him.

However, unlike before he didn’t brood over how others viewed him.

“A small price to pay for the dreams…” he whispered and called his spear back.

Yuura, Tarun and Kahrun looked at him with puzzled expressions and seeing that, a vein throbbed at his forehead.

He glared at them and snapped, “Help me, you dumbheads! This is not the final wave!”

His words thundered throughout the campsite, and everyone finally came out of their revere.

They looked at each other before they quickly picked up their weapons, and the volley of attacks began once again.
