Chapter 250: The Pirate King

“Why are you still here if you have already broken your chains?” Rion’s question stilled the room.

Heavy stifling silence permeated all the corners until all of the pirates burst into a loud, guttural laughter.

Their cacophonous laugh was of no man or woman; it was something beyond them, and upon hearing it, Rion felt his heart beat loudly.

A strange enthusiasm filled his heart, and he too burst into laughter, no different than theirs.

The duke watched everything with a terrified expression, and the one who had been questioned answered in a dry, sickening tone, “I just followed the blue moon’s wish…”

Rion and the pirates stopped laughing. He looked into the man’s orange eyes and asked, “What is the blue moon?”

The man pushed himself up the ground as he walked closer to the bars and said, “It’s the symbol that guides us to the true revolution, to the freedom we seek, and the devouring serpent who will end everything.”

Gradually, the enthusiasm died down, and Rion’s lips dropped into a frown. “You have the Zone…”

The man shook his head, his heavy hair struck the bars, and he said, “I do not have a Zone… only beings that are near transcendence can have them, what I have is a territory that grants me strength upon fulfilling its demands.”

’Territory, huh… is it similar to Father’s Myth and The Remnant’s World?’ Rion wondered and nodded in understanding; his gaze drifted to the other pirates.

“I believe it demands that you need a fixed number of devoted fights within your proximity,” he guessed as he spun leisurely.

The man gripped the bars and whispered, “Indeed…”

All of a sudden, the floor and walls moved as the waves, the bars of the chamber rusted, and the pirates yelled in devotion to their captain, the pirate king, Francis Calico.

Francis walked out of his chamber, chains fell off his tall figure, and pins slid down his burly beard as he walked towards Rion with a wide grin on his face.

On the other hand, Rion stayed calm and focused his Zone on Fancis to understand how his territory actually worked.

’It’s a form of intent that is affecting the ether around us, which is then empowered by his enhanced aura… making it an actual phenomenon instead of an imitation,’ he noted in his head.

He looked at the other pirates from the corner of his eye and added inwardly, ’The pirates work as receivers and transmitters… if they are killed, his territory would be weaker and break down but most won’t even be able to stand straight in this.’

His gaze shifted towards Emerson, who was using his rapier as a support to stand, horror flashing in his eyes.

Francis walked leisurely, a cruel grin on his face as he could finally kill the man who had captured him when he was weakened.

As he slowly neared them, Rion asked, “Why did you become a pirate with such strength?”

Francis sneered. “This strength is meaningless before what they can do.”

“I see…” Rion mumbled and remarked inwardly, ’No wonder he is like that… he isn’t from this continent, he is from beyond the fog.’

“You are a curious figure,” Rion stated.

Feeling the young man’s calm strange, Francis stopped in his tracks and muttered, “My men won’t move unless I tell them to, so stop stalling.”

“Stop stalling, you say…” Rion mumbled, his lips stretched into a grin, and all of a sudden, the left side of his face turned purple.

“What the—” Francis stepped back, and Rion used Zone Relocation to appear before him.

Spooked by his sudden appearance, Francis swung his dark gray aura-clad fist at him.

Rion smiled calmly, blocked his fist with his arm, and performed hand signs with his free hand.

The pirates yelled curses at Rion, but he ignored them like he had ignored everything ordinary.

Beads of sweat rolled down Francis’s face as his heart drummed in panic, and he kicked at Rion with all of his strength.

The kick hit him, but it did nothing. Rion didn’t even move an inch, and the next moment, a swirling spear of wind currents appeared in his free hand, and he struck Francis at the center of his abdomen with it.

“Rasen—!”

Rion’s shout died down under the heavy thud of Francis’s body slamming into the wall.

The rippling chamber and the rusted bars returned to their previous state.

“Did I overdo it again?” Rion questioned himself upon seeing the enormous spiderweb-like crack in the wall.

The pirates fell silent and stared at Rion with horrified eyes.

All of them staggered back to their chambers, and Rion walked closer to Francis, picked up his body by the hair, and stated, “Emerson, I’ll be back soon.”

Emerson, who was staring at him in a daze, came out of his reverie and nodded frantically.

Rion took a final glance at the pirates before he used Zone Relocation and appeared before a pond in the wilds of the southern city.

He threw Francis in the pond and crouched beside it.

Feeling the water travel up his nose, Francis broke his slumber and shouted while looking around, “Who— Agh!”

Upon seeing Rion, the memories of what had just happened replayed in his head, and he jumped back in fright.

“What do you want from me?” Francis asked while forcing down his fears.

Rion looked in his eyes and questioned, “You are not from this continent, are you?”

Hearing those words, Francis’s expression turned grim.

A heavy sigh escaped his lips, and he answered with a shake of his head, “I am not…”

Rion nodded, swiped his hand into the pond, and asked, “So? Where are you from?”

Chirping of birds resounded throughout the area as Francis stayed silent for a few minutes, and Rion continued to stare at him, waiting for an answer.

All of a sudden, Francis took off his filthy, rugged tunic and said, “I am from the western continent.”
