The following day went by the same way as the previous, and the periphery of the veiled islands entered his Zone.

All of a sudden, Rion’s lips dropped into a frown, and he mumbled in his head, ’What’s going on? Why can’t I sense anything other than the coast?’

He stood up from his chair and said, “I’ll be back soon.”

He left the room, walked to the front edge of the ship, and looked at the veiled islands kilometers away from the ship.

As he stared at them, a conclusion formed in his head, ’That fog is stopping my Zone from sensing everything that is covered by it.’

’What kind of fog is it?’ He wondered.

Even the purple fog that was harmful to most wasn’t able to do something like this, harmless fog.

Seeing him standing there, Francis asked, “What’s wrong?”

His voice pulled Rion out of his thoughts.

He turned towards Francis and answered with a shake of his head, “Nothing’s wrong. We are about to reach the islands.”

“Heh. Isn’t that great? Just a couple more hours and I won’t have to see your damning face,” Francis muttered with a wide grin.

“That’s true.” Rion nodded. “It would be hard to see someone more handsome than yourself, after all.”

Hearing his rebuttal, a vein throbbed at Francis’s forehead, and his lips parted to respond, but before he could, Rion muttered, “I am extremely thankful for what you have done for me.”

Francis’s fury went up in smoke, and he looked at Rudy with a sombre expression before he burst into laughter, “Thankful? What are you thankful for, lad? It’s just a deal.”

He looked away from Rion and added, “Go away from here, you are ruining the mood.”

A faint smile made its way to Rion’s lips, and he left after giving him a faint nod.

As Rion walked back to the room, the pirates murmured under their breaths.

“Finally free from this monster…”

“I can breathe again.”

“Hey — if you forget how absurd he is, isn’t he kind of handsome?”

“You are always in heat, aren’t you? You fish!”

“I never asked a shrimp, I only talk to lobsters.”

A chuckle escaped Rion, and he mumbled under his breath, “It’s much better this way.”

After he reached the room, he sat back in his chair and asked Zaelyane, “I forgot to ask, but do I have to ask them to stay here for our return?”

She shook her head. “There’s no need to worry about returning, elves have ways to send people back.”

“I see…” With that, he closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair.

The soft rhythm of the waves, the salt in the air, the quiet presence of small fish drifting through the water — all of it reached him as his Zone spread outward in every direction.

“Get ready for the halt!” Francis shouted at the top of his lungs, and the pirates moved quickly.

They lowered the sails, threw the anchors and ropes to tie around the rocks, and with a long, groaning creak, the ship shuddered to a stop.

Francis stared at the wall of heavy fog ahead, and a shiver ran down his spine. “It makes me remember the fog that circles the continent…”

Zaelyane and Yuura walked out of the room and descended to the shore using the wooden plank that the pirates had set in place for them.

With slow and careful steps, they set foot on the coast of the veiled islands and looked at the heavy fog.

Zaelyane glanced at the ship before she walked closer to the fog and touched it.

Green glow began to seep from under her forehead accessory, and the fog moved away from her.

Seeing that, her lips curved upwards, and she mumbled, “hO, rethoM! enihT nerdlihc evah denruter ot eniht bmow.”

(Oh, Mother! Thine children have returned to thine womb.)

The next moment, Rion used Zone Relocation and appeared beside them while carrying Dora in his arms with a blanket covering her.

He glanced at Francis and sent a Mental Whisper to him, <I will remember this.>

“You don’t have to! I don’t want to meet you! You cursed beast!” Francis responded as he turned around and yelled at his crew, “Cut the ropes! Pull the anchors! We are leaving this damned place.”

The pirates, who no longer had a person to be scared of, answered loudly, “Yes, Captain!”

The wooden planks shrieked as the ship moved again and left Rion and others standing on the coast of the veiled islands.

Rion let out an amused chuckle as he shook his head and asked, “How do we proceed?”

Zaelyane set her bag down and took out several items before dividing them into three small pouches. She murmured over them, and a soft green glow seeped from each opening.

She handed one to Yuura and two to Rion.

“These will keep the fog from touching you.”

She placed the items in three pouches and mumbled something under her breath while holding onto them.

A bright green glow seeped out of the pouches’ mouths, and she stated while handing one to Yuura and two to Rion, “This will keep the fog away from you two.”

“What about you?” Yuura questioned with a frown.

Rion examined his pouch. “It seems the fog doesn’t affect elves.”

Zaelyane gave a small nod, lifted her bag, and said while offering her hand to Rion, “Let’s go.”

He shook his head. “The fog is stopping me from using my Zone. We have to walk there.”

“Oh…” Zaelyane lowered her hand, took a few steps in the fog, and said with her usual flat expression, “Follow me.”

Rion and Yuura followed behind her, and just as they stepped into the fog, the pouches hanging by their waists glowed bright green, and the fog moved away from them, allowing them to see the uneven ground before them.
