At the main battlefield, the bowmen rained arrows on the countless monsters.

Many of them were injured by the restless attacks of the monsters, and they were only able to continue because they were being strengthened by Haden’s domain.

The only good part was that none of the warriors had died till now.

Marin and Valak spat commands at the army to make sure that the monsters couldn’t step near the Redwood Den.

The campsites and everything in between were already devoured by the purple flame, so they had already lost the perfect ground.

Marin’s troubled eyes darted through the warriors, and he mumbled, “These monsters are much stronger, and these must be all of them… The Remnant has emptied the purple fog forest for this final act.”

The Remnant was an ancient being that had lost his sanity over time, but whenever he gained control, he made kareths… the cursed weren’t in his plans, he didn’t even know the demonic energy would react in such a way, but he had no other choice.

His Mother’s revenge was at most for him, so he continued to create more and more of the kareths. The kareths weren’t that hard to make, and before he knew it, he had made a hundred thousand of them, but… with their numbers increasing to such an amount, his control over the demonic energy began to slip.

The kareths that were supposed to be nothing but storage for demonic energy were twisted into mindless, undying monsters, and before The Remnant could fix it, he had killed one of his own.

From that day on, the crimson and purple that were once family became enemies of one another.

Everyone could feel the shockwaves of Haden’s battle against The Remnant, and each tremor, no matter how weak, was like a palm hitting a war drum.

The tremors didn’t make them despair; instead, they announced that their Sovereign was standing toe to toe against a mythical being like The Remnant.

Rion was the same; however, his heart wasn’t as calm as others. He had seen with his own eyes what kind of disaster the Abysmal Flame could become, and it was currently under The Remnant’s control.

His attacks slowed down, he turned his head towards Haden’s battlefield and mumbled, “The Remnant doesn’t have the same level of control on it as The Mother, but… It’s still the same flame that had devoured beings as strong as the seven-horned in a single moment…”

The thought of leaving this place to help Haden crossed his mind, but he pushed it away, knowing that there was nothing he could do to help. He was immortal, and he could fight The Remnant until he was strong enough to defeat it, but Haden didn’t know that. Once he decided to help him, Haden would instantly begin to think of Rion’s safety.

Rion’s eyes shifted between the humanoid monsters. They first landed on Varok, who was battling a six-lined monster, and then on the remaining two six-lined that had stopped their advance.

“Heh.” Rion smirked and announced with a wide grin, “You want me to come to you?”

The six-lined monsters looked at him and let out sharp shrieks.

Rion’s face twisted in irritation, and he spat, “Are you making fun of my face?”

For a moment, everyone was confused about how he had reached that conclusion, but the battle was too important for them to talk about it.

’Because they are at the end, I would have to defeat these weaker monsters to reach them…’ He concluded. An amused glint passed through his eyes, and he whispered, “Are they thinking to tire me?”

A chuckle left him, remembering that after knowing they couldn’t defeat him everyone always decided to tire him. Well, they couldn’t be blamed for not knowing that Rion only got tired when he wanted to.

Rion took a deep breath; the smell of metallic blood, burning flesh, rot and whatnot hit him, and he scrunched his nose.

“That… was a bad idea,” he grunted with a disgusted expression.

His aura washed over him, and he thought while attacking the monsters that had bad intentions, ’I can easily kill those six-lined monsters, but that wouldn’t solve anything. What I truly need is to understand how I can free the souls trapped inside that flame.’

He scanned the monster before him with Predator’s Eyes; his control over that skill had become so precise that he could flicker it, and by doing so, others couldn’t even catch the change in his eyes.

Just like the kareths, the humoined monsters also had a single critical point, their core.

He tore the limbs of a tentacle monster. They grew again, and he tore them again. The cycle continued as he studied the monster without knowing what he was even trying to find.

However, he knew enough to search for.

’The souls trapped within the Corrupted Abysmal Flame use their core to manipulate the body and the demonic energy… so there must be something that connects them.’

His eyes stilled at the core, and he added, “I just have to pull on the connection to reach the soul.”
