Chapter 284: Bar Fight
Two hours later, the carriage stopped at the recruitment house, and the three of them stepped out of it.
Just as Bael set his foot on the ground, he expanded his Zone as much as he could and began to search for Zaelyane and Yuura, and once he found them, his brows furrowed upwards.
’What are they doing there?’ He thought as he mumbled, “Let’s go.”
He began walking towards them, and the two noble heirs, who were looking around with curious eyes, muttered as they followed behind him, “Wait for us!”
They walked for about ten minutes, and the bustling city around them turned into the western slums that even knights visited once a blue moon.
Jareb and Henry scrunched their noses and looked around with frowning faces as one of them asked, “What are we doing here?”
As Bael’s Zone was already covering them, he didn’t need to look at them. “We are going to the friend I told you about.”
“Your friend lives here?” they muttered at the same time, as they couldn’t believe that a friend of someone as mysterious as Bael lived in the slums.
“Apparently they do,” Bael muttered in a voice that in no way sounded happy.
Confused, the two tilted their heads.
A few minutes later, they reached a bar with a cracked wooden door and an ancient nameplate hanging above it.
Bael stepped inside the bar, and just as he did so, his gaze fell on over ten figures who perfectly fit the image of street thugs.
At the center of them stood a man with amber-orange eyes and short black hair, dark daggers in his hands.
Seeing Yuura, Bael’s anger flared up, and he spat, “What the hell are you—”
However, before he could even finish, Yuura sprinted towards him with a wide grin, his daggers ready to stab him.
But just as his daggers were about to graze him, Bael swung his fist and struck him in the abdomen.
Crash!
Yuura flew backwards, slammed into the wooden wall, and stayed glued to it for a few moments before he let out a groan and fell.
His body rolled onto the ground, and he looked at the ceiling in disbelief for a moment, and gritted his teeth.
Bael stepped further inside the bar, “You don’t have to cont—”
Crackle!
White lightning crackled around Yuura, and just like before, he zipped towards Bael.
Yuura’s daggers gleamed with his aura, and Bael let out a sigh as golden flames burst around his fist. He spat, “Calm down, Yuura.”
Hearing his name and seeing the color of his opponent’s aura, Yuura finally understood who the person before him was, and he mumbled, “My liege—”
However, before he could even finish, Bael slammed his fist into his face and sent him flying.
Yuura crashed through the bar’s wall and fell onto the table at the center of the room behind the table.
The leaders of the capital’s underworld shot to their feet and looked at the man who had disturbed their talk with the lady who seemingly wanted to take them all under her.
Bael stepped through the broken wall, and his gaze drifted towards the woman with black hair that ended in green.
Zaelyane lowered her smoke pipe and spoke as she stood up from her chair, “We’ll talk about this later.”
The leaders obviously wanted to kill the man who had dared to interrupt them. Still, seeing how easily he defeated Yuura, who had already easily defeated all of their men, they could do nothing but nod.
As Zaelyane walked towards Bael, Yuura also stood up and looked at Bael with a grave expression. His lips trembled to say something, but he had no excuse.
“Let’s go,” Zaelyane said in an easy-going tone, which Bael didn’t like at all, but for now, he decided to take care of her later.
Henry and Jareb stared at the three figures coming towards them, and Jareb asked in a horrified tone, “Did you see him move?”
Henry frantically shook his head and said, “I didn’t see either of them.”
“How strong are they?” They wondered.
Bael appeared beside them and said, “Let’s go, young masters.”
Hearing his voice, the two of them came out of their daze and gave him confused nods as they turned around and left the bar.
A few minutes later, they returned to their rooms at the inn, and Bael asked, “So? What were you two doing there?”
Yuura stayed silent and lowered his head in shame while Zaelyane glanced at the two noble heirs and answered, “We were just cleaning some trash.”
Bael massaged the bridge of his nose and said, “Stop doing it.”
Zaelyane frowned and muttered, “Why don’t you want us to?”
“I don’t want you two to get into any trouble,” Bael stated.
“They aren’t trouble for us, we are to them,” she said flatly.
Bael stared at her with a deadpan look before he shook his head and mumbled under his breath, “Forget that I asked.”
“Alright.”
“You don’t have to say alright.”
“Okay.”
Annoyed, Bael rubbed his face, and the noble heirs looked at them with confused but entertained eyes.
“So? Why are you back so early?” Zaelyane asked in her usual flat voice and expression.
Bael looked at her with second thoughts about everything before he just surrendered.
“I want you to help me create a rune circle or diagram that would allow me to replicate an elven sorcery.”
“What did he just say?” the two nobles mumbled under their breaths with a face too calm for what they had just heard. It seemed they were adapting to Bael’s absurdness.
Zaelyane nodded. “I see.”
She looked at his face and asked, “Which sorcery is it?”
’Would she get mad?’ Bael thought as he dropped the bomb. “The sorcery Malikeya used to send us here.”
Zaelyane’s expression instantly fell apart into a deep frown, and she muttered flatly, “It’s not possible.”
Bael frowned. “We haven’t even tried it—”
“It is not possible,” she stated in an extremely sharp voice that seemed to cut the air around them.
