Chapter 80: Aura Technique
A few hours later, at a wide clearing,
Rion paced before his squad, and they stared at him with curious eyes.
Yuura, who was unable to contain his curiosity, asked while rocking left to right on a boulder, “What are we here for?”
His voice pulled Rion out of his thoughts. He turned towards them, and his eyes shifted between all of them before he questioned, “Does any of you know any aura technique?”
The Aura techniques were similar to skills that Rion regained from the system. The only difference was that once he had assimilated his skills, he could use them as if he had remembered them from his past lives, without having to train for them.
However, for the aura technique, he needed two things: precise channelling of aura through the body and… intent.
Without intent, the technique was nothing but a hollow shell, and without the precise channelling of the aura, the technique was no more than a thought.
His relentless desire for control and self-improvement had etched itself into his golden enhanced aura. Thus, his aura was way more fiery and persistent than that of anyone else at his rank.
Even then, his control over it was just as precise as a master smith’s on his hammer that could bend the most stubborn of metals.
The four of them frowned and answered at the same time, “No.”
Aura techniques weren’t easy to learn; one had to put all their effort just to perform them once, and after repeating it for over a hundred times, they achieved an instinctive mastery over the channelling and intent of that aura technique.
After achieving mastery, they could use the aura technique instinctively, much like Rion used his skills.
Rion had already achieved the said mastery for Master’s Call and Aura Telekinesis.
He nodded and said while pointing at Kahrun, Tarun and Yuura, “Do you three have any aura technique in mind?”
He didn’t need to ask Dora because he already knew that Jura was teaching her his aura techniques. Which included the three that had earned him his title of Silent Arrow and Heaven’s Bow — Master’s Call, Heaven’s Vector and Night Eyes.
Yuura grinned widely and answered after jumping off the boulder, “I was thinking about creating an aura technique that makes use of my speed.”
He nodded and looked at the remaining two for their answers.
Tarun scratched the back of his head and muttered with a wry smile, “I don’t have any in my mind…”
Kahrun nodded at Tarun’s words and pleaded, “I also don’t have any, but I want you to help me.”
A smile creased Rion’s face, and he answered, “Of course, I will help all three of you.”
They smiled joyously, and at the same time, an amused smile appeared on Dora’s face as she thought, ’I wonder what he is going to make them do.’
His smile widened, and he said while pointing at Kharun and Tarun, “Jump off.”
They jumped off the boulders and stepped towards him, but Rion lifted his hand to stop them.
They halted their steps, and Tarun frowned. “What?”
Rion pointed at the boulders and mumbled, “Pick them up on your shoulders.”
Tarun looked between him and the boulder with a puzzled look before he shrugged, and crimson aura flames appeared around his arms. He walked over to the huge boulder and picked it up without even breaking a sweat.
Kahrun and Yuura followed after him and picked up their respective boulders with the help of their white and blue aura flames.
Rion clapped at their showcase of strength and praised, “All of you have grown way stronger than before.”
Joy bubbled up within them after being praised by a person as strong as Rion.
His claps halted, and his smile widened into a devilish grin as he commanded, “Now stop enhancing your strength and only use it to keep your body from breaking.”
“What?!” All three of them exclaimed in disbelief, and Yuura muttered, “How are we going to lift something this heavy then?”
Rion shrugged as if it didn’t matter to him and explained, “To learn an aura technique, you would need precise control over your aura, and by keeping your body from breaking under the weight of the boulder, you would achieve that level of control much easily.”
They blinked a few times, and Kahrun questioned, “Shouldn’t you have started with something lighter than these?”
Rion shook his head and answered, “These boulders are best for your suf— training.”
They were sure that he wanted to say something other than training but they couldn’t prove it. There was no way their own squad leader would make them suffer pointlessly, after all.
Yuura looked between Rion and Kahrun and muttered, “You aren’t really thinking of going on with this stupid training, right?”
Kahrun turned towards him and answered with a frown, “He is only doing it for our best.”
Rion agreed to Kahrun’s words with a nod, and he provoked, “If you can’t even do something as easy as this, there is no hope for you to learn an aura technique.”
And just as he had assumed, their warriors’ pride didn’t allow them to back down after such provocation.
Their eyes blazed in determination, and their aura dimmed; they groaned under the weight of the boulder, but with the help of their aura, they were at least able to stop their muscles from tearing apart.
Dora shook her head and heaved a defeated sigh at how easily Rion made them do something none of them initially wanted to do.
However, instead of condemning him for using their warrior’s pride to manipulate them, she praised inwardly, ’Heh, he is best at anything he does!’
Rion, on the other hand, took out the herbs he had collected during the morning and mumbled, “With this I’ll concoct pills that will allow your body to adapt and heal much faster, so don’t think too much about not being able to fulfil your duties.”
He finished taking out all of the herbs and muttered, “Remember. The stronger you are, the more helpful you can be for the tribe.”
The three of them nodded at his words, and instead of forcing through because of the provocation, they genuinely began to train.
