Chapter 107: Invitation

“I came to freeload on free food.” Kate responded honestly.

The previous day, when she was here, she had tasted the food that was prepared by Adrian.

That food was amazing, to the extent that she felt all the other foods that she had eaten since then were bland.

This made her to crave for the food, which was why she could not resist coming over.

Then, Michael looked at Kate and asked, “Tomorrow will be on a weekend. Will you be on duty, or are you free so that we can go to the shooting range?”

Kate on the other hand shook her head as she said, “I will not be on duty tomorrow. But even then, there is a family meeting that I need to attend.”

As she mentioned the family meeting, her expression became slightly gloomy. After all, she could already tell, this family meeting was related to her.

From what Raymond had told her the previous day, it was about the engagement.

Additionally, the way that it was prepared, it was in such a way that even if someone ate it continuously for an extended duration, it would not cause any health issues.

After all, the meal included different types of dishes, all well prepared, ranging from meat, to vegetables.

“You can come by anytime, in case you would like to eat again. Nobody will stop you from doing that.” Michael responded with a slight chuckle.

“By the way, my grandpa wants to meet you. He told me to ask you if you are free, so that you can arrange a meeting between you two.” Kate suddenly said.

Michael looked at her with a puzzled expression, before he asked, “What could be the reason why he wants to meet me? I don’t think that I have ever met with him before, and neither have we interacted in any way.”

“I myself am not really sure, but it’s most probably related to what happened back in Drenn city. My grandpa has many methods of acquiring information, and most probably, he already knows about the incident that night.” Kate responded honestly.

’That night? The way that you are framing those words, you can easily make a clueless person overthink!’ Michael could not help but grumble internally.

Still, he asked, “Anyway, I don’t think that there is any reason for a meeting. You are the one who helped me out, so, if anything, I should be the one that should be thanking you instead.”

“Well, everyone in the family usually thinks that I am kind of reckless. So, my grandpa wants to thank you because he feels that if not for you, I might have been in danger.” Kate responded as she pouted.

This action made her look quite cute, a contrast to her usually fierce appearance when she was dealing with gangsters.

As he shifted his attention somewhere else, Michael remembered the fact that before he arrived, he had found Kate having an argument with the gangsters.

From the way that things were, it seemed more likely that there would eventually be a clash between Kate and the gangsters.

The members of the Shadow assembly gang would not easily let go of an opportunity of making money. As for Kate, with her pride, how could she back down?

If the two sides clashed with each other, nobody could tell what the outcome would have been. But most probably, Kate would have suffered.
