Chapter 211: A Bounty

Michael raised his brows slightly as he gazed at Fred, waiting for him to speak.

“I thought that you might want to know, Thomas is not the real leader of the dark society. There is someone else.” Fred quickly spoke.

Melvin, standing beside Michael, was left dumbfounded when she heard this. She had not expected such a huge secret to be revealed just like that.

Being part of the top circle within the Eastern province, it was inevitable that she would come to know about the Dark Society and its leaders.

She knew that Thomas was the leader of the gang, and below him, there were four people that were usually trusted. She did not know much about them, but only knew about two of them, and Fred was not among them.

But now, with Fred’s revelation, she was left shocked. She just could not believe that Thomas, who was regarded as the leader of the biggest gang in the eastern province, was actually a pawn.

Before Michael could say anything, she quickly asked, “Then, who is behind the dark society? Do you know?”

This was something that she was so much concerned about. After all, from the movements that the dark society had made, it was inevitable that the Walter family might get up being involved in this matter.

So, she thought, if she knew the details regarding the Dark Society, she might be able to prepare some countermeasures. She did not believe that every time, she would be lucky for Michael to come and save her.

She did not even know why Michael was here, whether it was by coincidence or he was here specifically for her. Regardless, she could not take any chances, especially if it was someone else within the family that ended up being abducted.

“Even I myself don’t know him, and I have never met him. Only Thomas meets him, but he never reveals anything to us about him. What we know is that, this person is very formidable, and is from the central province.” Fred responded.

His words shook Melvin tremendously. She had not anticipated that the person behind Dark Society was actually from the central province.

If it was a figure from the central province, then, what would the Walter family do if they ended up being targeted? They might be giants within the eastern province, but was the southern province not bigger than them?

The Eastern province was the second smallest province in this nation, in terms of development. Apart from the northern province, which was the least developed within the nation, all the other provinces were above the eastern province.

And as expected, the companies, corporations and families that could be found within those other provinces apart from the northern province were bigger than those that could be found within the eastern province.

Of course, the gap might not be that big, but it still existed. So, the moment that it was mentioned that someone originated from the central province, how could Melvin not be shocked?

At this moment, she felt helpless. If they really were targeted by someone from the central province, they really did not have any methods of resisting.

And as she thought about that, she could not help but glance at Michael standing beside her. Even though she was not sure about his origin, but she believed that he was also from the central province.

If there was a possibility, as long as they could establish a connection with Michael, maybe they could evade this calamity. Thinking about it, she was determined to make sure that the relationship between Michael and Alex improved.

Michael finally decided that it was time to leave. There was no need to continue lingering here, especially if Thomas and the others ended up popping up here. Additionally, there was a possibility that Alex’s father might end up doing something else, out of desperation, in order to be able to get Melvin.

But just then, his phone began ringing. Michael took it out, only to realize that it was Adrian who was calling.

“What’s up?” Michael received the call.

“Michael, Death shadow has issued a new task for an assassination.” Adrian’s voice came through the phone’s earpiece.

“Who is the target?” Michael asked as he narrowed his eyes slightly.

“This time, you are the target. As for the one who has issued the mission, for the time being, it is unclear, but they are from the central province.” Adrian responded.

“Okay, no problem. Just focus on what you are doing, leave this to me.” Michael nodded after a moment, before he responded.

Even though he was curious about who it was from the central province that had sent an assassin after him, he was not panicked.

With his current strength, and the fortification of the adaptive dermal lattice armor, unless the assassin used high degree explosives, it was impossible for them to be able to harm him.

But, it seemed that he would have to focus on this assassination organization as well. He might as well plan on how to eliminate it, alongside the dark society.

It did not bode well with him that some people continuously targeted him. Previously, he just felt that there was no need to target them, but that was only if they did not target him again.

But now, it seemed that they did not intend to come after him because of the previous failed assassination attempt. Instead, it was a new client who had issued a mission.

Michael already had a few guesses on who might be behind this, but he was not sure. Regardless, he thought, he would deal with it when the time came.

But for the time being, he gazed at Fred who was already bleeding from the two bullet wounds. By now, a small pool of blood had already formed where he was currently lying on the ground.

Without uttering a word, Michael raised the gun in his hand, while ignoring the horror in Fred’s eyes, he pulled the trigger.

It was a direct headshot, as the bullet pierced through the head, between the brows.

Fred’s propped up body collapsed, as the life in his eyes faded. The fear in those eyes remained, even after he died.

“Ah?! You killed him?” Melvin suddenly exclaimed as she looked at Fred who had already passed away.

“There is no need to spare some people. Even though he claims that he was forced to become a gangster, and the life of his family is in danger, before he even met Thomas, he was already a gangster.

By now, he has already killed quite a number of innocent people, so, there is no need to spare him.” Michael responded simply, before he headed towards the door.

Of course, he possessed detailed information on the dark society, including its members. The only reason why Thomas used the families of the top four core members of the dark society was simply because he wanted to gain their trust.

Thomas might have believed that as long as he had the families of those four as leverage, they would have no other choice but to obey him. As for betraying him, there was almost no chance.

Even the plan that Fred had, if Michael had known, he would have simply thought that he was an idiot. After all, how could Thomas not expect that there might come a day when one or all the four of them wanted to escape?

As a result, he had already placed several people around the families of these four, always observing them day in day out. If they attempted to escape, Thomas would immediately take action, and the consequences would not be good at all.
