Chapter 156: Clueless

Adrian went to open the door, and Michael saw him returning with Kate.

Kate’s blonde hair fell in soft waves around her shoulders, brushing lightly against the straps of her light summer top. Her brown eyes curiously swept over the room, and her slender, athletic figure was framed by denim shorts and sneakers, with a small backpack resting against her back.

“Not much changes. Don’t you have your own taste of the appearance of the villa? I thought that since you moved in, you would change the outlook of the villa.” Kate suddenly said as she approached Michael.

“What is the use? Anyway, the way that the villa looks like, it is not like it can affect me. Additionally, I already like the way that the villa is. So, there is no need to change anything.” Michael casually responded.

Kate thought it was reasonable, and did not comment further. Instead, she went and sat beside Michael on the couch.

“Been busy lately?” Michael asked.

Since the two of them met, Kate occasionally came to visit. But during this week, she had come over less frequently.

Michael understood that she had already been hooked by the food that Adrian prepared. So, when there was a chance, she usually came over to freeload on the meal.

“Yeah. Due to the incident related to the Kingsley family and the former police chief, there was a lot of work to be done. This issue had attracted the attention of the higher ups, especially the headquarters.

So, there was a lot to take care of, which did not give me much of a chance to pay a visit and enjoy the meal here.” Kate responded as she thought about what had happened back then.

Due to the crimes of the police chief being revealed, it had caused quite some chaos. Some people had even began rioting, claiming that the corruption level was just too high.

The police obviously had to be dispatched to maintain order, and Kate was among them. Despite possessing incredible combat skills, it was not as though she was going out to fight against civilians.

So, for the past few days, she had mostly been moving around the city, especially during the day. At night, after getting back to the police dormitories, she usually just slept after eating in the cafeteria, considering that she was extremely tired.

Luckily, things had calmed down for the past 2 days. That way, at least she relaxed. But, she still felt that her body was kind of sore, and thought that she could relax.

She had already told her friend about her mother’s suggestion. Her friend suggested that she should follow what her mother had told her.

If not for the incredibly busy schedule, she would have already come to visit Michael long ago.

And the previous day, have friend suggested that they should go to an amusement park. That way, they could both relax and enjoy themselves, which would be quite good at bonding.

That was exactly why she suggested that they should go to the amusement park today, as she had a day off. Additionally, it was on a weekend.

In response, Michael shook his head as he said, “You cannot guarantee that it would work. After all, who could tell, maybe they would just keep things under wraps, and cover for him. After all, how many people holding high positions don’t do things like the former police chief?

So, most probably, they would hide that issue, and continuously claim that they would take care of it. At the same time, they might try investigating the identity of the person who would have sent the evidence to them, to deal with them.

After all, since I could easily get the information on the former police chief, why not them? So, they might be afraid that I could expose their secrets, and, the best choice for them is to eliminate me.”

Kate thought about it, realizing that it made sense. Even though she did not want to admit it, she knew that many people above her were corrupt.

There was almost no department that did not have corruption. It did not necessarily have to be something big, but even the slightest favoritism was already considered unethical for the work environment, especially if it affected the others in the same field, negatively.

“Forget it. I don’t want to talk about work for now. It was already tiresome, and despite all the work that I did, there are no merits at all.” Kate waved her hand, obviously not wanting to talk further about this issue.

Michael nodded. Then, he asked, “Should we go? And, have you made some preparations? You know, this is the first time that I’m going to visit such a place.”

“Ah? What preparations? Are we supposed to make any preparations? I don’t know, this is my first time as well.” Kate was surprised by Michael’s words, as she asked in confusion.

“You know, currently, it is summer. So, the amusement parks are usually busy during this time, with many students being on summer vacation.

So, there is a great possibility that the tickets might be sold out. It would be better to have made advance preparations by booking the tickets online.

Additionally, even if the tickets have not yet been sold out, going now, we are going to line up. We might end up standing in the line for over an hour, and by the time that we get to the front, the tickets might have been sold out.” Michael explained.

Hearing Michael’s explanation, Kate was dumbfounded. Since this was not her decision, but a suggestion from her friend, she had not really thought much about it yesterday.

Thus, thinking that it was a good idea, she just informed Michael, and did not make any preparations for this. Considering that she had never gone to such a place, she did not really know about the preparations and things that might affect it.

After all, most of the time, she was usually focused on her career, and did not enjoy herself that much.

“Then, what should we do?” Kate was left unsure of what to do. If they ended up queueing for a long time, and ended up not getting any tickets, it would be troublesome.

Since it was summer, there were not that many things that they could do, at least from her own perspective.

“What about this? Since I have never toured the city, why don’t we take this chance for you to show me around?” Michael thought for a moment before he suggested.

Previously, he thought that Kate had already made the preparations. But looking at her clueless look, it was clear that she did not make any, as she clearly didn’t know about this.

Despite he himself never visiting such a place, Michael already knew about these things. He just wondered, how focused was Kate on her career as a police officer, to the extent that she did not know something as basic as this?

“I guess that works?” Kate responded. For this, she had some confidence.

Before she joined the police academy, she had usually toured the city. Even though she did not know most of the places, but she was at least more familiar with the city as compared to Michael.

Additionally, ever since she returned to Brenton city, she had been on patrol duty very often. So, she could say that she had gotten much more familiar with the city than ever before.

“Since it is summer, driving is the best option. But, it is much more restricted than riding. So, why don’t we go with a bike?” Michael suggested after Kate agreed.

“That works. That way, it will be much easy for you to be able to observe places. Additionally, there are some places that cars cannot enter, but motorbikes can easily access them.” Kate nodded as she responded.

Before Michael could say anything, Kate suddenly asked, “But, do you even have a motorbike? Otherwise, don’t tell me that you want us to go and buy one, before going out? If we are late, the sun will get hot, and it would be unbearable to be moving around at that time.”

“Of course I have one. I just recently bought it.” Michael responded.

Of course, Michael did not have any motorbike. And, this was just an idea that he had gotten, so, he had not made any arrangements for this.

But, with the system store, this was not a problem. So, while he was responding to Kate, he quickly accessed the system store, and did some filtering, before he found what he was looking for.

It was the Honda Gold Wing, priced at 0.3 SP, equivalent to $30,000. Michael quickly made a purchase, and the bike was parked in the garage of the villa.

“Ah? Don’t tell me, did you already plan this in advance?” Kate suddenly asked skeptically.
