Chapter 40: Taking Action

When Kate asked that question, the old couple, who were worried, suddenly looked at her, stunned.

His actions and words frightened the old couple so much that the old lady screamed, while the old man tried to get to Michael, only to be blocked by one of the gangsters.

As for Kate, she was also stunned by the sudden change of events. She was still wondering about what Michael’s real situation was when suddenly, he was attacked.

She immediately let go of the finger that she was holding, before she tried rushing towards Michael.

It was just that, she reacted a little later, which made it impossible for her to be able to get to Michael, no matter how fast she could run.

On the other hand, Michael had also not anticipated that he was going to be attacked so suddenly.

In a blur, Michael caught the man’s wrist, twisted it sharply, and drove his elbow into the attacker’s ribs. A dull crack echoed, followed by a gasp of pain as the bat clattered to the ground.

Without hesitation, Michael snatched it mid-fall and pivoted just as another gangster lunged at him with a fruit knife.

He sidestepped, striking the man’s forearm with the bat, forcing the blade to drop.

Spinning on his heel, he swept the bat low, smashing it against the legs of a third assailant who had tried to rush from behind. The thug collapsed with a grunt, his knees buckling.

Two more gangsters charged at him at once, shouting curses. Michael ducked beneath a punch, slammed his shoulder into one man’s gut, and used the momentum to hurl him into the other.

Both went crashing to the pavement. Only one gangster remained, trembling, hesitating on whether to attack or not.

Michael’s gaze fixed on him, cold. Without giving the gangster a chance of reacting, he suddenly rushed towards him.

With the distance between them being less than 5 meters, due to his speed, within almost an instant, Michael was already in front of him.

A punch in the gut made the man’s eyes bulge as he collapsed onto his knees, clutching his stomach. The metallic pipe in his hand had already collapsed onto the ground, as the man did not have any strength to hold it any longer.

For a tense moment, silence filled the air, broken only by the groans of the defeated.

Michael took a deep breath, feeling excited in his heart. This was the first time that he had engaged in a fight against multiple opponents, and he had easily taken care of them.

As for the part where he used the baseball bat, he just instinctively used it. While he had not trained using weapons, did he even need to train how to use a baseball bat to smash someone?

At this moment, Kate stood frozen in place, her eyes wide in disbelief as she looked at Michael.

The elderly couple on the other hand clutched each other, too stunned to speak. None of them had imagined that the usually quiet Michael, was so capable when it came to fighting.

They wondered, could it be that Michael had always been hiding it? Or, maybe he learned during the time that he was away?

Michael obviously did not know what the group of three was thinking. Instead, he looked at the group that was groaning on the ground and said, “Get lost. Go and inform Dante that I have arrived.
