The room was wrapped in soft shadows and warm, muted light. Dark leather panels and polished wood lined the walls, absorbing the distant thrum of music from outside. A low crystal chandelier hung above a marble table, scattering reflections across glass and metal surfaces.

On the table, bottles were arranged. Clear spirits rested in an ice bucket, their surfaces slick with condensation, an aged whiskey glowed amber inside heavy tumblers, and wine bottles lay uncorked beside tall champagne flutes. Thin trails of melting ice pooled slowly across the marble.

A group of young people occupied the room, spread across plush seating. Some leaned back with drinks in hand, laughing and talking over the music, while others stood closer to the table, pouring refills or clinking glasses in casual toasts.

Phones were checked and set aside, conversations overlapped, and the air carried a mix of alcohol, laughter, and anticipation, giving the room a sense of indulgence and controlled excess.

This went on for quite a while, before suddenly, the door of the private room was opened. Then, a man wearing a black suit and a pair of black glasses walked into the private room.

The arrival of this person attracted the attention of the young people inside the room, but just after a single glance, they completely ignored this person.

As for the man who had just entered, he did not care about the reaction of the young people inside the room. Instead, he had it straight for another young man.

This young man was sprawled on a couch, his arms around two beauties, who were busy giving him drinks and a platter of fruits.

“Young master, there is a very important piece of information that will interest you. But, I don’t think that this is the best place for me to inform you about this.” The man responded in a calm voice.

“If you cannot tell me about it here, then it implies that it can wait. So, let me enjoy myself for a few more minutes, or maybe an hour or two. After that, I will come out so that you can tell me about it.” The young man waved his hand as he said dismissively.

But as he was about to continue enjoying himself, the man did not leave. Instead, he gazed at the young man and said in the same calm voice, “It is important, and that is why it cannot be said here. Additionally, it is something that you have been paying attention to for quite a while now.”

The moment that the last sentence was said, the young man suddenly sat upright on the couch. As for the two beauties on each side, they were completely ignored.

As he dragged his fingers through his already messy blonde hair, the young man yawned slightly. Then he said, “Fine. Let’s go.”

The young man immediately stood up after he said those words, preparing to leave.

“Henry, you are already leaving? You are not planning on drinking until you are knocked out cold?” A young master suddenly asked from the side.

The young man, Henry, simply gazed at the person who had spoken and snorted as he said, “Don’t worry. There is something that I need to take care of for now. But as soon as I’m done with it, I will be back to continue.

Today, let’s have a drinking competition. Let’s see if you can drink more than I can without passing out.”

“Okay then. Since that is what you want, then I agree.” The other young man responded with confidence.

Henry did not bother to say anything else, as he left the private room together with the man who had come to him.

This person was his personal bodyguard, assigned to him by his family. He was extremely skilled in terms of combat, but at the same time, he had the brains.

It was just that, Henry was someone who liked relaxing, and did not like to bother much with the family affairs. Maybe it was because of this that his father had assigned this guy to protect him.

As soon as the two of them left the private room, the sound of the music suddenly increased. But, neither of the two bothered, as they headed for the elevator at the end of the corridor.

The two went directly to the basement of the building, where there was an underground parking lot.

After getting out of the elevator, the two of them got inside a Lamborghini Urus. It was only then that the young man focused on his bodyguard with a questioning gaze.

“This time, the person that is investigating the Santos family is not investigating about you, or the members of the Santos family,” the bodyguard stated.

“Huh? Then what are they investigating? If they are not investigating about a member of the Santos family, either directly or indirectly, what is the use of investigating the Santos family anyway?” Henry was left confused.

“Actually, this person is investigating about your uncle. Specifically, he is actually investigating about your cousin, who is 2 years younger than yourself.” The bodyguard continued.

His words made Henry frown further. He could not understand why someone would be investigating about something like this.

First of all, his uncle had disappeared several years ago. According to his grandfather, his father eloped with his girlfriend, and they never got officially married within the family.

During the time that they eloped, his aunt to be was pregnant with his cousin. But, at that time, Henry was only slightly over 1 year old.

“It is like this. The person that is investigating your uncle and cousin is the current CEO of Vanguard Corporation, the biggest security company in the nation.

I have done my own investigation, and I realized that it seems that within the shareholders of Vanguard Corporation, there is a shareholder called Michael Santos.

There is a great possibility that this person called Michael Santos is your cousin. This might be the reason why This guy called Dwayne Richards is investigating the Santos family.” The bodyguard explained clearly.

“Michael Santos? I have never heard of that name before. But, if this guy from such a big security company is investigating our Santos family because of this person called Michael, then there is a possibility that we are related.

At the moment, there is no family member that is unaccounted for, apart from my uncle and cousin. Since that is the case, I might have gotten some leads,” Henry said in a contemplative voice.

“What should I do? Should I investigate about this guy called Michael Santos, or should I focus on the previous clues that we got before?” The bodyguard inquired.

“Chris, you should know what to do. After all, we are not sure if this person called Michael Santos is my cousin. So, we cannot completely abandon the previous clues that we had found. So, just investigate both of them,” Henry said in a serious tone.

“Okay. But, considering that we are trying to keep this away from your father, it is inevitable that things are going to be done slowly. So, this might take quite a while, for me to be able to find the information on this person, without alerting them,” Chris responded.

“I have already waited for quite a few years. So, it doesn’t matter if it takes several months or even an entire year. Just make sure that my father doesn’t find out about this.” Henry shook his head as he said.

“Okay. But, there is one more thing that you might need to know.” Chris nodded before he added.
