Chapter 199: Interrogation

Michael was slightly surprised when he heard that Kevin had been abducted once again. It seemed that maybe giving owed the Dark Society something. Even if he was not the one, maybe his family did, and those guys wanted to get it from Kevin?

There was no doubt that they might be suspicious of the reason why Kevin was not arrested, despite him having committed quite a number of crimes.

They seemingly had a plan that they had made, and it required the cooperation of either the Kingsley family or the Green family, and both of them had just been dealt with by Michael.

Michael was not sure if they were going to replace the green family, but regardless, Michael decided that he would have to investigate on what plan the dark society had.

For them to orchestrate a plan that would require the involvement of several influential families, it was clear that it was not something simple.

And as he thought about that, he decided, “Forget about him. Just focus on trying to know what it is that the dark society is planning. Use any other methods that you can, to get the information. Don’t just wholly depend on technology.”

“Okay, I will get it done.” Lucas responded, before he left.

Michael on the other hand decided to think of how to deal with the Dark Society. This was quite a big gang, with influence all over the eastern province.

Additionally, the real leader of this gang was someone from the central province, with quite some influence in terms of background.

But Michael was not afraid of dealing with the dark society. He just thought that it was quite troublesome to deal with, which was why he had ignored it until now.

At the moment, the easiest way of dealing with this gang was by the use of their enemies. Michael could easily acquire information on the dark society, especially those important secrets, then inform their competitors.

By doing that, he would be able to cause tremendous problems for the dark society. It was just that, as one gang collapsed, another one would rise. That was especially if the fall of the dark society fueled the growth of another one.

This immediately eliminated this option. It was not that Michael thought of eliminating all the gangsters in the world, as that was an impossibility. It was just that, he was not willing to be a reason why another gang would rise up.

Now, it seemed that the other way to deal with this gang was by the use of the government. If he really used the government, there was a great chance that this gang would be easily destroyed.

But before that, Michael thought that it would be better if he knew what plan it was that the dark society was planning. As long as it was something that he could prevent, he would do so. Additionally, if it could be used in order to destroy the gang entirely, it would be even better.

As he dismissed those thoughts, he continued relaxing for quite a while, before he continued reading, to push for the acquisition of another skill.

While Michael was busy with the acquisition of SP, Kevin who had been abducted once again, was currently locked inside a dark room.

Even though he was usually afraid of the dark, at this moment, he felt incredibly relieved.

Back in the slum area, after realizing that the person had taken out three people, he struggled to leave that place. He was not willing to remain there, only for him to be termed to have been the one who had injured those three.

He managed to get away from that place, after quite a struggle. And while he was relaxing, begging from the people passing around for food, a van suddenly stopped in front of him.

Then, under the astonished gazes of the people around, he was quickly carried and shoved into the van.

Inside the one, those who had abducted him realized that there was something wrong with him. And when they realized that it was food poisoning, they could not help but curse.

Even then, one of them gave him some milk, and he was taken to a nearby dispensary. There, he was treated, making his condition slightly better. After that, he was brought here, and it had already been several hours since he last saw anybody.

Thankfully, before he was brought into the room, he had been well fed. Otherwise, by now, hunger would have consumed him, and he would have been difficult for him to continue staying in here.

He was still dressed in the torn trouser that he had picked back in the slum area. This was something that regretted, as he had not asked those guys to fetch him a new pair of clothes.

As for why they had abducted him, considering his current situation, did he even care? He did not have anything to lose anyway. So, if they wanted money, he felt sorry for them.

While he was still pondering about the past events, the door was suddenly opened. Stepping inside was none other than Jeffrey.

He was the one who had organized the abduction of Kevin. And surprisingly, things went quite smoothly, even after he was taken to the hospital.

All this while, Jeffrey had been keeping an eye on Kevin, trying to see if there was going to be someone who would come to rescue him. But until now, nobody showed up, which made him begin to doubt the other three who had claimed that they had been beaten up.

And as he entered the room, the lights in the room suddenly turned on, making Kevin to squint his eyes.

Currently, Kevin was sitting on a chair, the only chair in the room. The entire room was completely empty, which made Jeffrey’s footsteps to echo in the room.

Jeffrey approached Kevin, before he stopped in front of him. Kevin on the other hand took the chance to look at Jeffrey. This was the first time that he was seeing this guy.

In his memory, he could not remember someone like this. So, he believed that there was no way that he had offended this guy.

“Kid, I want you to be honest. If you honestly tell me what happened, and what is the reason why your doing family was destroyed, I will give you a new chance in life. You will be able to live a life like a human.” Jeffrey spoke in a calm voice.

“Huh? That’s it?” Kevin was left dumbfounded when he heard about the reason why he had been abducted.

Of course, his father had not informed him about the collaboration between the family and the dark society. So, at this moment, hearing the question, Kevin was surprised.

“What? What did you expect me to ask you? You thought that you were brought here because we wanted to get some ransom from your family?” Jeffrey asked with a raised brow.

“No… No, I did not think that. I just thought that you might be my love rival, which is why you decided to abduct me,” Kevin quickly responded as he shook his head, his words leaving Jeffrey speechless.

For a moment, he could not help but wonder what was going on in the mind of this kid. Was he thinking about women all the time?

Additionally, what nonsense was this kid talking about? Rival in love? He was already in his late 30s. So, how was it possible for him to compete for love with a kid in his early 20s?

“Okay, if you speak anymore nonsense, I will break your finger. Each and every time that you lie, you will lose a toenail. So, you better think through on the answers that you give me.” Jeffrey shook his head as he said.

His words sent a chill running down Kevin’s spine. He did not doubt the words that this man had said, judging from those cold brown eyes that were staring at him, as though they could directly stare at his soul.

“Sure… sure, I will not dare to lie to you.” His body trembling slightly, Kevin quickly responded. He would never dare to lie, as he was afraid of pain as well.

Just the thought of him losing a finger or a toenail, how painful would that be? So, at this moment, he dared not be careless, and all the answers that he was going to give, he thought that he would have to think carefully about them.

“Good. So, tell me clearly, why was your Green family destroyed, and why are you not arrested like the rest of your family members?” Jeffrey seemed satisfied by Kevin’s reaction, as he went ahead and asked once again.
