Chapter 55: Departure

“Hmm.” Michael grunted in response.

The two of them were actually not that close to each other, but at least, the relationship between the two of them was not that bad.

After nodding at the two of them, Michael headed straight to John’s office.

“You are here, Michael. Come, let’s wait for a little while. I already contacted the kids yesterday, and they promised that they would be coming over.” John stated as soon as Michael entered into the office.

“That’s good. If they can arrive sooner, it will be better. After all, if we continue staying here, there is a high possibility that the Phantom gang will come knocking on our door.” Michael responded as he sat down.

“I told them to be here as soon as possible. Though, I did not reveal the reason why they should be coming over, in case this leaks out.” John stated as he nodded.

Just as Michael, he was also worried that before they departed, the members of the Phantom gang might pop up, causing trouble for them.

As for the arrival of the kids that were previously within the orphanage, at least those that had been in touch with John, John was not that much worried.

After all, with the death of Dante and his second in command, and most of the members of the shadow assembly gang, their businesses became chaotic the previous night.

This was something that John had found out the previous night, when he communicated with a few of his acquaintances.

According to them, things had become chaotic, with some gangsters battling on who was going to take over the gang.

The entire story had yet to spread, so, most of the people did not really know what had occurred, to send the shadow assembly gang into chaos.

The two of them began chatting for a little while, with John mostly telling Michael about the events that had been happening for the past month when he had left the gang.

Several minutes later, Michael was informed that the helicopters were about to arrive. Now, they were asking for the landing location.

“Is there anywhere that the helicopters can land? Somewhere close.” Michael asked John.

“Yeah, there is one.” John responded, before he described the place to Michael. The location of the field that John was talking about was just about 2 km away from the location of the orphanage.

So, Michael sent the location, before John began mobilizing the children, ready to depart.

As for Michael, after sending the location, he simply booked several taxis, as they would be the ones to take everyone to the location of the landing spot of the helicopters.

By the time that it was 7:30 a.m., everyone that should have arrived had done so.

Apart from the nine children, those who had left the orphanage due to Dante asking them to, numbered to 11.

At least, these 11 could be reached. As for the others, they had already either settled within the city, or had been sold somewhere else, their whereabouts unknown.

Regardless, this number was just within the estimate that Michael had in mind. In total, there would be 23 people, and the 4 helicopters would be enough to be able to carry all of them.

In just a little while, several taxis suddenly began appearing outside the orphanage, attracting the attention of the people around.

Everyone was puzzled, wondering, was there some kind of meeting between taxi drivers at this place?

While they were wondering about this, Michael and the others began getting into the taxis. Each taxi was able to carry four people, one in the passenger seat, and three in the back.

And with a total of 23, they needed 6 taxis.

John and Rebecca, the old couple, sitting inside a taxi, both looked at the orphanage.

This was the place that they had been staying for quite a long time. Even before they retired, they had been living here.

Michael did not bother with the people that were observing from the side. Instead, he led the group of children and young people to board the helicopters, after he had communicated with the four pilots.

Out of the 11 people that had returned to the orphanage, 7 of them were actually ladies, with four of them being young men.

As for the nine children, they were all looking at the helicopters with both excitement and curiosity flashing in their eyes.

For most of them, this was actually the first time that they were seeing a helicopter with their own eyes. After all, it was not that easy for a helicopter to fly above Drenn city.

And even if the helicopters did fly above Drenn city, they were not as close as the 4 helicopters in front of them.

After everyone had boarded the helicopters, the helicopters took off, heading straight for Brenton city.

It was just that, about 2 minutes after the helicopters took off, several cars arrived. The moment that they stopped, several gangsters alighted, each one of them carrying a weapon.

They all gaze at the helicopters that had already flown into the distance. By now, it was already too late for them to be able to do anything.

But, who would have anticipated that Daniel would end up dying on his trip out? Additionally, the guns had all been taken away, which was a big loss to the gang.

As for the culprits, it was said to be a young man and a young lady. As for their origin, the young lady was said to be a police officer, as for the young man, he was previously working for Dante.

Of course, he knew about Dante, as he had investigated about Daniel, knowing that he was supporting Dante, his cousin.

It was just that it was completely unexpected that the person who had been an underling under Dante, actually ended up killing Dante and most of the core members of the shadow assembly gang.

He went looking for Michael at the orphanage, only to be informed that they had left in several taxis, together with the children.

As for where they had gone to, it was here. It was just unexpected that when they got here, they realized that they had already left in helicopters!

’Whatever. There is nothing that we can do, as they have already left the city.’ The man thought to himself, before looking at the gangsters that were still talking to each other about the events that had happened.

“All of you, let’s go back. There is no need to linger here. There is nothing that we can do.” The man said as he got into the vehicle.

The other gangsters did the same, and departed.

Inside one of the 2 Bell 407 helicopters, Michael was finally feeling relieved. Since they had left, he could finally not have to feel pressured about what would happen if the Phantom gang came looking for them.

As for his luggage back at the hotel, he did not really bother about it. After all, the suitcase only contained his clothes, nothing of great value.

He just had to contact the hotel to inform them that he was not going back. As for the luggage, they could do whatever they wanted with it.

Now, it was a question on where he would settle John and the others.

After contemplating, he thought, why not buy several apartments in Brenton city?

Of course, he was not thinking about going to some real estate companies or agencies in order to look for the apartments.
