Chapter 32: Someone Familiar?

(A/N: Though I’m using the brands from real life on some things like cars, clothes and so on, please note, this is a fictional world.

It’s just a little troublesome to start creating a brand for each item, especially cars and other vehicles, as I’ll need to provide the specs for each item, which might be a filler.

So, it’s way better to use the original ones from real life, making reference easier. Though, I won’t involve the companies themselves in the novel.

A small request such as purchasing a suitcase was something that was easily fulfilled.

Michael only had to wait for a few minutes, before there was a knock at the door.

Upon opening the door, he found that it was the lady who had been in charge of his meals during the time that he was here.

“Mr. Santos, here is the suitcase that you asked for it to be purchased for you.” The lady said politely.

While taking it, Michael said, “Thank you. How much was spent on it?”

“Purchasing the suitcase cost $400. Here is the receipt.” The lady responded as she handed the receipt in her hand to Michael.

Michael took the receipt, before getting back into the suite. He headed back to his bedroom, before taking the cash that he was carrying with him, and handing $400 to the lady.

As soon as the lady left, Michael went back to the bedroom and checked out the suitcase. It was of high quality, no wonder it was quite expensive.

The suitcase was black with a smooth hard shell. It had a silver TUMI logo near the top, four small wheels at the bottom, and a metal handle that could be pulled out.

Michael felt relieved, as he finally had a good and presentable suitcase that he could use to carry his items around.

Considering that he really did not have that many items to begin with, it was quite easy for him to be able to pack everything into the suitcase.

After he was done, he finally decided to focus on improving on the advancement of the combat skill to the advanced level.

This time, instead of trying to continue reading, he decided, it was better to start watching the videos.

He was not sure about what he needed to do, but it seemed, it was better to watch the videos, and progress while thinking.

If the videos did not provide sufficient information for the skill to be upgraded to the next level, he would have to search for other solutions later on.

No sooner had he thought about it that he took action. He began watching the videos that he had already downloaded before, which were mostly from fighting clubs and gyms, being tutorials.

As usual, he watched the video in fast forward, saving him much time.

And as expected, the progress bar finally began moving again. This relieved Michael, as the stagnation of the progress bar was something that made him quite worried.

Without him noticing, it was already night time. And, at this time, he received a call from the front desk.

“Hello Mr. Santos, your dinner is ready.” The lady that was in charge of the front desk spoke in a polite tone.

“You can have him bring it over.” Michael responded. He was just about to put down the receiver of the phone when the lady spoke once again.

“There is one more thing Mr. Santos. That is, today is the last day of your stay in the hotel. I would like to confirm, would you like to extend your stay here?” The lady asked.

Michael immediately understood. It was not that easy for a hotel to find someone who would stay in a presidential suite for an extended duration like he did.

If there was a possibility of having him stay here for a little longer, then that was good. After all, the hotel would earn more.

“Not really. I have something that I need to take care of, so I will be leaving tomorrow morning.” Michael responded.

“Oh, then thank you for patronizing us. You are welcome to visit us in the future, and we promise to offer you services to the best of our capabilities.” The lady responded, before finally hanging up.

Michael did not bother with this, and waited for the meal to be delivered while watching a video.

A little while later, there was the sound of someone entering into the suite. The sound of footsteps coming from the living room of the suite, Michael had already grown familiar with.

He could tell that it was the young man who was in charge of delivering his meals during the night.

Having already gotten used to it, after serving the food, the young man immediately left the suite.

Michael sat at the dining table, eating the final meal that he would have in a while or maybe ever within this hotel.

He felt slightly nostalgic, considering that he had been here for quite a while now. A whole 2 weeks, and, all this while, he had not really stepped out of the presidential suite.

If it had been an ordinary person, they would have been affected by this. Not just physically, but even mentally.

Not many people could actually stay within the same place for two continuous weeks without getting out or changing the environment, without getting affected.

But for Michael, due to the enhancements that he had received from the intermediate level unarmed combat skill, this much did not affect him physically.

Additionally, the meals that he was provided with, followed a balanced diet. So, there was no problem even though he had not been exposed to the sun for quite a while now.

As for mentally, with the motivation of improving his skills, why would Michael have a breakdown? It was impossible, as he was even eager to continue staying here for a longer duration.

If not for Dante, why would he have had to leave the hotel right now? He would have continued staying for a little while longer, until he advanced the skill to the advanced level.

While he was thinking about this, he did not stop eating. And a little while later, after he was done, he went back to the bedroom, and informed the front desk that he was done with the meal.

Immediately after he was done with informing the front desk, Michael continued watching the video.

This time, Michael did not sleep early. Instead, he continued watching videos, all the way to midnight.

It was only then that he decided to sleep. In actual sense, he could have continued watching videos, as his body did not feel tired at all.

But still, Michael understood, it was quite important to balance work and rest. Despite him not feeling tired, it was better to allow his body and mind to relax for a while.

When he woke up the following day, he requested for breakfast. This time, the breakfast had to be paid for by him, obviously not included in the money that he had paid before.

After eating, Michael pulled the suitcase behind him, before leaving the presidential suite.

When he got to the ground floor, he headed to the front desk, before handing over the passkey card. After checking out, Michael walked out of the hotel.

It was just that, as soon as he stepped out of the hotel, he finally realized that it was still summer.

The air conditioner within the presidential suite made the place quite cool, that Michael had already forgotten about it being summer.

Even though it was still 10 a.m., Michael could feel that the temperatures outside the hotel were several degrees above the temperature within the hotel.

’Would have been better if I would have called for a taxi before getting out of the hotel.’ Michael thought as he felt some trouble adapting to the sudden change in the surrounding temperature.

But even then, he did not have to wait long, considering that taxis went past on road that passed in front of the hotel.

Michael stopped one of the taxis, before getting in. He was already beginning to sweat after standing outside the hotel for about 2 minutes.

Luckily, the driver of the taxi had already activated the ac of the car.

“Where to sir?” The taxi driver asked as soon as he got back into the car, having placed Michael’s suitcase into the car’s trunk.

“To Green Pearl hotel.” Michael responded.

The driver could not help but glance at Moonstar hotel. He wondered to himself, could it be that the service within this hotel was not good, which was why this customer of his had opted to go to Green Pearl hotel?

Everybody within this city knew that the three biggest hotels usually competed against each other. It was just that, none of them was willing to give in, and they all had great influence within the city.

But it was clear, if any one of them managed to win, they would be able to monopolize the hotel industry within the city.

It was for this exact reason that none of them were willing to back down, continuously fighting against each other.

Despite what he was thinking, he did not voice it out. Instead, he just decided to drive to the destination.

Michael continued watching videos on his phone while waiting for the driver to arrive at his destination.

A little while later, Michael got out of the taxi, before making the payment.

Just like Moonstar hotel, Green Pearl hotel was also located within the city center.

As soon as he alighted from the taxi, he headed straight for the entrance of the hotel. He thought, the sooner he got the room, the better.

But he had only entered into the hotel when suddenly, a somehow familiar voice called his name. “Michael?”
