Chapter 140: More power more problems
Amalya the Caipora, Spiritgaurdian with the tiger shield and spirit cannon. Amalya takes a moment to catch her breath. Tyr is still her leader who she adores he is a powerhouse. Having been one of the few people to truly understand and see how powerful he really is. She has been improving herself constantly to try and catch up to him. The little tips he has given are tough to follow as they require her to play all the guardian roles. Tyr and Omnicornlyre wait patiently if it was a true emergency Amalya would have used the in-game messaging system. No need to run around.
Amalya says, “We found an infestation in at the northern basin!” Her words come out in between large gulps of air. Tyr smiles at that this is good the other guilds on the islands should have a similar spread of ranked dungeons, resources and random events. The hidden event of Red Iron will only appear later according to his memories. He was afraid that the destruction suffered would have destroyed many of these events. A large number of resources and levels will come out of events like these which will help competitive players and also secure the lands they need for NPPCs’.
Tyr says, “Why are not you using your Draft Dog?” One of the most recruited is an NPPC breeder, players like Ori who are ranchers, hire these players to breed their strongest pets. A side business is the ability to secure chapter mounts. Tyr used his own draft dogs as they are at the same level as cattle and thus easy to breed. This is also why most Infinite SKY chapter members are super independent. At this very moment even with everything going on at least half of his members are still out collecting quests and exploring the island. These mounts are just like beginner horses most mainland players get a variety of options given how big the mainlands is.
Amalya says, “It is smelly…anyways let’s get going most of the guys are already down there.” The truth which she is too embarrassed to mention is that she fell off the Draft dog. Even if it is a pup it is much faster than a normal copper horse. Plus it Tyr looks at Omnicornlyre an abyssal that will help them clear the event quickly. His team build is a block and Smash build. Given Amalya is a Spirit guardian she is a great blocker. He and Omnicornlyre will be the DPS. He has expectations for the infestation it is a loot generating event.
Omnicornlyre says, ” What about our own dungeons here?” Of course, she wants to go with but what if he is testing her and will remove her from a leadership role. Omnicornlyre holds herself to a higher standard it’s already bad enough that new players only know as the Banefrosts’ cousin. She is always pushing herself to be more productive than the rest.
Tyr says, “I would love to do a dungeon run but even a rank one dungeon takes a full day at least. We can’t be away that long but the Infestation are instances are will go bust once it has been cleared a certain number of times. W can always pull out whenever we like. Plus that’s where you sent the others to trust them to do it. Omnicornlyre is surprised that, she didn’t expect Tyr is paying such close attention to her. While it is true she sent the other leaders off into the dungeon they are on rotation so that at least two are always available besides her. On the surface, it would be like they are just going about their normal business. Many guilds do similar things it is simple to counter-surveillance methods that can confuse a careless enemy.
Amalya says, “Yeah jump in with us if we have you I’m sure we can set a record.” The infestation gives a number of rewards to one of the nests of the first three top clearing times. These rewards are class-specific and at least of uncommon rank. She is existed to upgrade her gear unlike the others she hasn’t been attacked on the sea so she hasn’t levelled up much while rafting between the south and the west.
Omnicornlyre says, “It’s alright I guess the others should have everything under control. Yes yeah, let’s do it!” She is getting excited to show off her skills and see how another chapter works. Cooperation between the chapters is still fuzzy and no one really which is the best. Besides random encounter or rescue type situations, only Black Ocean has agents in every chapter. which is great since they are mainly responsible for intelligence in the guild.
Tyr says, “alright let’s ride!” To Amalyas’ joy, Tyr summons his Draft Dog pulled three carriage long road trains. He does this for two reasons, one of the main reasons he has stayed behind is to create routes between the building sites. His Draft Dogs are the best at pioneering a route as they are Iditarod strong. Omnicornlyre is surprised that even with her increased size it is not too cramped this is mainly thanks to Medium Bunz who increased the standard height to 15 ft to accommodate Tatiana. Her frost giant form after level thirty is ten ft tall. Small compared to normal giants but massive to most people.
The Draft Dogs are even bigger being well feed and driven often has them bulk up a bit, Tyr looks them over again he really loves them. He won’t be able to drive himself today, as he will want to plan out as much as possible of the infestation. Amalya has already given them a brief overview of the mine and Red Iron Ant infestation. It takes them about three hours to go to the northern basin of the western side of Red Iron Island. Omnicornlyre and Amalya constant eyed one another as the bumpy didn’t seem to phase Tyr at all who went over crazy scenarios like if the infestation extends to a full-blown mystery event and what they would do.
The northern basin is a series of mines around the base of the volcano. A tent village already exists here made of mainly Infinite SKY members. It is rather lively with both NPPC and competitive players around. Omnicornlyre is a little thrown back it is odd seeing players lead NPCs’ around as part of their teams. She does manage to control her expression and not stare too though they are the ones who have attracted the most attention since every player and their grandmother in Sunken Reef knows who that road train belongs to.
Amalya leaps out to scores of players pointing at them, she leads Tyr to one of the lesser mines. The outside of it is like a normal mine only there is a sign glowing red. From there they can activate the infestation and try setting a new record. Tyr has already added them to his party. At least Omnicornlyre is only one level than Amalya at level twenty-nine. The spirit guardian equips her full set of heavy armour and now her shield has a cannon attached to it and another in her hand, her improved sleeker tiger headed spirit cannon.
Tyr says, “Alright let’s get started.” The instant of Red Iron Ant infestation begins at the lip of the dungeon they have to make to end and defeat the queen.
Amalya says, “Come on we only have six hours at most.” Omnicornlyre looks a bit confused she read the brief they should have half a day.
Omnicornlyre says, “what difficult did you pick Amalya?”
Amalya and Tyr both say, ” Hell mode of course!” Omnicornlyre remembers something like that being mentioned the only requirement for membership in Infinite SKY for competitive players is that they have to play everything at the highest difficulty they can. She has never been in a hell mode event so this so is very eye-opening. Tatiana doesn’t stress difficulty only information gathering. Omnicornlyre can only fight alongside them there is no going back and the losing two levels should be okay.
The dungeon is alive with activity they can hear the Red Iron Ants moving around, digging new tunnels. The ants are violent bright red there mandibles is a deeper more threatening red. They move about in small teams, Tyr signals Omnicornlyre she uses her void ability [Silence] on Amalya. Silence can be cast on herself, allies, or, enemies. The skill creates a void, a pocket where one is essentially invisible which means Amalya can cast [Spirit Shot] coupled with [Fast Reload]. These two skills together roar forward launching the group first attempt at clearing the Red Iron Ant Infestation. The tunnel is littered with spirit cannon shots that run towards the first group of ants. Of the five only two fall dead.
Back on the surface a new wave of familiar NPCs’ has just arrived in Rising Reef town. They are demanding to see the people in charge.
