Chapter 170: Trials and Trepidations

The pod crawls out of the ground covered in dark grey slimy ash. They have just endured another ridiculous trial unlike what they expect the trials pit them and odd shitty situations that they have to think their way out of. It reminded BABYMAKERXCREAM of those corporate trust exercise where the manager has to play a pivotal to ensure a successful outcome. She doesn’t mind SKY Ocean Hunter’s leadership at all it’s the blandness of the mission so far she expected action and lord knows what else. 

MagmaHeart signs, “That was not awesome. just look at me I’m absolutely filthy.” Even being in the ocean doesn’t seem to help s the slime acts as a repellent to water making the ash stick. Who knew crawling through a dead volcano could be so dirty. She looks over at SmittenKitten69 and Hakagure who are trying to rub off the ash from their bodies. 

Calypso signs, “Are you sure about this SKY Ocean Hunter. These trails would make more sense if they were for a hidden temple or something.” She has seen traversal traps and complex mazes and puzzles like these before even the generic giant rolling ball during the third trial was a bit much. At least the idea to create a counter-current to slow it down worked. She hadn’t expected to be so simple. That is the main thing about all these trials it gives them a problem and they have to solve it. 

SKY Ocean Hunter signs, “Yeah I am for the part I think it testing a series of hidden qualities if you have read B. R. Sandersons’ on the qualities of a ruler. You would see each trial is designed to test a specific quality. NOw the tests are vague enough that even I can’t tell you which singular quality they are looking for but at least with the eighth one done, we should be finished with these trials. 

McQueen sings, “What makes you think…” SKY Ocean Hunter interrupts pointing to a series of corals that are artificially straight. Giant Jellyfishes eliminate the are floating about the city in the distance. They all start swimming towards when SKY Ocean Hunter glowing blue excitement dashes for a formation of three rocks. He dives without telling what he is doing. The soft ground starts to bubble where he dove. The Pod swims around no one acting out. The trial has allowed them to gain insights into the way SKY Ocean Hunter thinks. Given his strong often direct style of leadership they know they know they have to wait for him.   

The ground bubble and boils as pockets of bubbling hot air start to shots from the rock formation. SKY Ocean Hunter is thrown from the rock formation with a jetstream of warm water. The pod happy with what he has just found take the time to relax in the geothermal pool that SKY Ocean hunter has just reactivated.   

Calypso is the last one in as she waits for SKY Ocean Hunter to come back down. He laughing allowing a rainbow of colours. The rest o the pod is already soaking enjoying the warmth.  The pod rest to discuss what they have experienced. 

McQueen signs, “You know I just realized something how they have a test to be king?” She hadn’t understood why these missions didn’t feel right o her until a few minutes ago. 

MagmaHeart signs, “What do you mean people are always tested to get positions of power?” It seems perfectly normal for her to have jumped over lots of hops for SKY Ocean Hunter to pass this trials and become king. 

McQueen sings, “Hakagure already pointed out how none of these trials has anything to do with clearing the blockade which is why we are here.” 

Hakagure signs, “yeah but it’s more than don’t you all feel weird after what we have just gone through. I mean just think about them SKY Ocean Hunter basically carried us through each of them without him I doubt we would have cleared them so easily. I just don’t feel useful.”

Calypso signs, “yeah that’s right, you have been basically pulling us along with you what’s up with that?” 

SKY Ocean Hunter signs, “IT is important to make a good impression whenever you do any of the game missions even if you think it is stupid the game creators have plotted many things that we don’t see. For me, the first Sea Stone Plaque is a clear that directly affects my class I’m sure of it. 

Calypso signs, ” How so you are a Moon Cleric?” She has been meaning to get to explain that for a long while?” 

SmittenKitten69 signs, “What is that how powerful are you? I heard you have killed some top to become a moon cleric.” There are many wild stories surrounding the three male leaders of Sunken Reef. Each of them is an enigma of sorts and now that she has the chance SmittenKitten69 wants to get some answers.

Hakagure signs, “No he didn’t, I told you to not listen to those gossip queens. That story is about when they were ambushed by some other player and he keeps showing up at random times.” She has followed them all closely through the feeds available to them

SKY Ocean Hunter sings, “If you let me explain basically my class is a cleric right but I’m not sure how to advance it because most of my skills and abilities are sealed. Only once i open a path will i be able to properly advance.” 

Calypso signs, “Do you mean you are still using your basic class and have not advanced at all?” That would really be shocking as it means he is basically keeping with people who have skills from two classes while he only has one. 

SKY Ocean Hunter signs, “being of the Moon Goddes pantheon gives certain abilities so for now, I can pretty make due.” It’s not as bad as Styx has it SKY Ocean Hunter doesn’t even know if his friend has settled on a basic class yet outside of Racial skills he doubts Styx has ever used a specific class skill in his presence. 

McQueen signs, “That’s insane, so you could advance at any point and keep your moon skill and have the skills of an advanced class. 

BABYMAKERXCREAM signs, “ARE YOU FIGHTING AT HALF STRENGTH?” The thought slipped out of as he sees what SKy OCena hunter is saying.

Calypso signs, “Do you even really need us at all?” finding this out makes me feel that they’re even more useless after being carried through the trails by SKY Ocean Hunter.  SKY Ocean Hunter looks at each of them in the eyes giving them a resolute expression. 

SKY Ocean Hunter signs,” When you are as strong as me, it easy to think that you don’t need anyone, but think about a king with nobody following him is no king at all. A king who can’t give orders that are obeyed absolutely is no king at all. You will all learn in your own time how unforgiving this Ocean is. I need you guys not just to fill in the numbers to be yourselves to help, to you guys it might seem like you’ll are just riding my bus but believe me when say that having you all around has made my mission much easier. ” He spokes sincerely from the heart he realised that he had been distancing himself from them because he is trying to keep Athena happy. He only did enough o get the game to recognize them as his pod. Which has afforded a lot of leeway with Majesty and them being all females is a huge bonus to an impatient Great Grandmother. 

X2CU bursts out of the warm water after having been under while everyone spoke she sees the serious faces and can’t be bothered to find out why they all look that way and signs, “I found a hidden passage leading to a huge door with this.” His hand shows a system screen of the image of a huge crescent-shaped door. Everyone exclaims in an excitement hidden room often lead to treasure only SKY Ocean Hunter is not so happy. That is the symbol of the Moon Goddes of the few clues he has about her she is used to be the sole Monarch of all the waters everywhere. 

SKY Ocean Hunter sings, “Nice find mark it down for us, We first have to stopping the Isekal. they are already ahead of us. I know the trials weren’t to you’ll liking but I can promise you that Rina Brine Sanious is a different kind of monster. She will not hesitate to waste all at the slightest sign of weakness. I doubt she even cares about things anymore. They…we need to stop her before she claims the Barren Sea.” What makes Rina Brine Sanious so dangerous isn’t that she is pure evil she is the only NPC he knows that doesn’t play by the rules. When they first meet she won every game of tic tac toe because she would place her tac over his toe. Her ability to disregard the rules and play by her own set of impossible to decipher rules is why she is such meance and a powerful danger.
