Chapter 25: Sovereign
Tyr is attacked as he is arranging his army lucky for him, unlike a real battle he has control over his army like in classic strategy games. Tyr assumes it’s because he is alone and this is the easiest way to make sure his plans are followed. The mushroom Orcs could feed a nation. In his old life, the player guild Amore managed to find the Mushroom stalk and grow it undisturbed. The stalk serves the control node as well as the main means to produce Mushroom orcs.
Tyr orders his Artificers to move to the eastern and western flanks of his army. Lucky for him behind him is a river so he can’t be attacked from behind. The treeline to the east is about a kilometre away from his position. The Mushroom Orcs are travelling south to him from the north. He can see the Stalk absorbing magical energy to produce more Orcs.
Two thousand multicoloured excellently flavoured Mushroom Orc are marching towards him. The Mushroom Orcs are fried by the turrets of the Artificers. Having an average range of three hundred meters. Darts of sizzling fire, form a ‘V’ shape. Given the huge number of succulent Mushroom Orcs. This pattern of attack will bunch them together forcing them to meet his army head-on. Being behind the mainline the Artificers are as safe as can be. Given the large numbers of scrumptious Mushroom Orc moving towards them the teams would have to pul successfully. The Wardens, sorcerers and wizards made this possible. As each tasty Orc comes through the funnel created by the constant bombardment
Tyr orders his other five hundred warriors is avoid the battle and try to make their to the Stalk in the background. If they can hold out until the stalk falls they will win the war. Tyr is grabbing the attention of his enemies main force and commanders. To prevent any of them from following his commando force. Tyr orders a careless attack by the range Warden, Wizards and Rogues soldiers.
Bolts of molten lightning descend from the sky focusing on the eastern flank mostly to prevent any mishaps. The Mushroom Orcs are riled up and stampede towards the main army. The warriors fall back in the middle. The mushroom Orc swings their Champignon swords into his men. Being twice as strong as normal humans. His men crumble pushed by Portobello shields, trampled by under Oyster armour. The fragrant army devastates over a hundred mean before they can fall into the strong flank. The weak centre has given way as planned.
Still cooked from the turrets now the salty Mushroom orcs have to fight on two flanks. The Guardian cast in unison two skills. The first is shield bash the noise from their shields attracts the attention of the fully flavoured Mushroom Orcs. The single target skill catches the attention of the Orc. As intended to allow some morsel of Orcs to be pulled close to the boiling centre of the battle.
Droves of team unleash a kitchen of skills, the warriors like front line cooks. The heat of battle continues to grow. The Psions using skills like confusion to have the Orc attack one another. Warden pets are keeping the slippery Rogues from being attacked as soon as a Rogue attack from the shadow. A servant would follow up there. The orcs slice as his soldiers dice. Spell bodies all chopping into one another.
The Mushroom Orcs slowly carve up his men. Tyr has the sorcerers use their best spell. Some who have pacts with demons use raise souls. This takes the souls and turns them into weapons for thirty seconds. Others who pray like Blood Elves to Bloody star use the blood to create traps and blood spikes. Those with pacts to a death god can raise the dead. creating a zombie army to further saute the Mushroom orcs.
The wizards are launching all manner of spells they have access to Tyr is trying to do as much damage as possible his army is dying. The Mushroom is too strong and takes too long to kill. Given their small numbers, The Orcs are starting over the artificers’ barrier. HE supports it as long as he can with the wizards.
The controller of the Mushroom army is commander her Orcs to slaughter all the soldiers. She had panicked for a while but now she can feel confident moving all her forces forward to overwhelm the small force of soldiers. Tyrs’ soldiers fire back at the increasing number of Orcs. A tidal wave sweeps forward over the Orcs followed by a storm of lightning spells. The combo stuns and damages low-level players who can use certain skills in conjunction to produce a stronger effect. The simplest is by taking advantage of the stun from Rogues. Warriors can have five seconds of uninterrupted attacking. Then the Guardians use shield bash to attract the aggro from the warriors and the warden shoots at it from range. All the while this is happening.
A powerful skill combination used on enemies like bosses or bigger foes who can be singled out like Mushroom Orcs. The sorcerers continue to interfere preventing the Orcs from coordinating. Tyr has ordered his force to work together. So the soldiers unleash the next level of complexity. Wizards use wind blades after a fire dart is fired. earth wizards use quakes then water wizards use mire creating large pools of mud. Dragging down the Mushroom Orcs. Artificers fire their turrets in a controlled burst delivering high burst damage. By shooting fifty turrets at a time. The artificers can keep a constant fire carpet of the area.
This only aggravates the enemy commander as she is dealt higher losses while the soldiers don’t seem to be dying as quickly. She has to move closer to the rear of the army so that they can get the attack bonus of their leader close by.
Tyr smiles as he finally gets the notification that some of his squads have reached level two. Instead of focusing on an individual squad as they level up. He adds a support skill to the guardians to help heal this also goes for Warden for who has access to life and nature magic. The warrior he gives the skill brothers in arms. This gives them a bonus for every soldier in a hundred-meter radius up to twenty-five per cent. The wizards get an additional attack spell, sorcerers get a CNC skill. Artificers he gives them upgraded turrets.
He then goes himself to the battlefield. Tyr rallies his soldiers around him a massive final push with his soldiers around him. In his mind, he should have scored enough points to get a fairly high rating. After all this test is one of command. He is glad that he didn’t acquire this skill directly. If he hadn’t seen the lower version of this class. He might have assumed that he is meant to be some kind of Warlord who has a thing for designs. Tyr really has to find out more about Lord Nogu and his so-called siblings.
This Mushroom War should soon be over with his death. He can then finish this up and get done with his merchant association missions. He controls his armies to fire directly on the weakest looking enemy closest to them. This controlled chaos method will increase his points in the assessment. He had long since come to the conclusion this battle couldn’t be won.
The enemies in overwhelming numbers, the location the system put him in. It was basically a killing field and he made sure to make his last stand. Tyr has fought many trials as leader of his old guild he managed to become a relative power in the continent. However, once Aria recruited him he had joined as the captain of a superpower. His transfer to Utopia was something he needed back then since he failed to save his sister, his friends were only memories. Alone in the world, Aria was his lifeline.
His soldiers do as instructed. lines of men and women fight to their deaths. He can hear screams as swords and spells are hurled at each other. He himself is fighting a Mushroom Orc without any skills. The Sovereign-class skills is locked until he reaches level ten. He only accesses to his warrior skills. That is the minimum requirement he saw when tired to glimpse what the Sovereign-class was about.
Tyr wonders those three lifestyle classes bother him. His is the Sovereign the only other that had an identical golden imprint. Were the Hegemon lifestyle and The Khan Lifestyle class. Besides the others, he felt a strange energy from those scrolls.
