“Tinashe why you are crying my boy?” Tinashe is in the arms of his loving mother. His tears are of joy at being able to hold her. The see her smile, to hear her call his name again. He hugs her tightly holding on for dear life. He doesn’t want this dream to end. She has always been there for him until she died. He has been back an hour and still can’t believe it.

His supposed friend had killed him in the street like an dog. Tinashe was shocked at the reason he was betrayed.

It had been the most painful years of his life. Watching his mother die from a disease that can be cured. Only he could not afford it. Even if he sold all his organs. He would never afford the one million dollar price tag. He is just a poor rock digger from the arse end of nowhere.

Tinashe says, “I have never been so happy to see you Mama. Did you do something with your hair.”

Letty says, ” Don’t be silly my boy.” His mother moving her head scarf making sure it is securely on her head. He used to think that she just liked head dresses. Finding out years after her death that she started wearing because her hair was falling out from sickness.

She still spent every penny they had on his education. Looking back he can’t understand why. He was never a good student and never applied himself. Now he is back home in 2054 with his mother. Thirty years in the past.

Tinashe hugs his mom again. He has to rush to his uncle. That drunk old fucker is the only person who can loan him the money. He needs to buy a gaming cabinet. Tinashe walks to his uncles house. It is right next door or rather. They live on his family land and his mother and her two brothers each have a small house on the land.

He knocks on the unlocked door that swings open as he knocks. Tinashe doesn’t enter the house. The strong smell of alcohol is eye wateringly strong. He hears a mumble and bottles rattling from the house. A tall formerly muscular handsome man with chocolate like skin and a surprisingly well kempt fade.

He washes his morning breath out with vodka. Waving at Tinashe with his bruised knuckle. Tinashe comes in saying, “Uncle Gundo, How are you today.” His uncle smiles at him. Two of his front teeth are missing.

“Mxm!Don’t try be funny. What do you want so early in the morning.” Ask Gundo  looking for a left over piece of meat. In the take away paper bag on the kitchen table they are sitting at.

“Ah you were always so quick. I just to borrow some money. I will pay you back double at the end of the month.” says Tinashe using his best charm.

Uncle Gundo smacking his lips together fishing something out from in between his teeth says, “Okay double but remember whats happens if you fail to pay back the money. I don’t care that your my nephew.”

“Of course uncle I will work in the mine until I pay back.” His Uncle Gundo had made his money by financing illegal mining operations.

Uncle Gundo seeing the determination in his nephew asks the question he should have asked first. “So out with it how do you need for your little scheme.”

“First Uncle its not a scheme. You know I can’t do anything like that otherwise ‘SHE’ will kill me and probably skin you alive too. Plus its only a 15999.99 bucks. ” Says Tinashe nonchalantly.

If his uncles’ month was full he would have spat everything out. Gundo says, ” Just sixteen thousand, you are lucky you are family otherwise. You would be out of luck.” His uncle is under constant pressure from a big business.

“Thank you so much Unlce you won’t regret this I promise.” Says Tinashe holding out his arm. His uncle taps his own arm and Tinashe receive a notification from his ‘cell’ phone.

Tinashe says, ” Uncle did you make a mistake this is too much.”

Uncle Gondo says, ” No its correct beside transfer fees and bank charges. For your scheme you will need to bribe a security guard here and there. So the extra ten thousand is to make sure everything goes smoothly.” His uncle is looking at him straight in the eye.He even winks at Tinashe letting him know they are the same level.

Tinashe says, ” No uncle really its noo scheme.” Tinashe waving his arms in assertion. Even his mother would think it’s for a scheme. Alas they have many money schemes when money is super tight.

Uncle Gundo says, ” Yes of course its not .” The winking and sarcasm tells Tinashe his uncle doesn’t believe but that doesn’t matter with this he should be able to get the gaming cabin before Mythic opens today at six pm.

He doesn’t even leave his uncles house ordering the gaming cabinet and low grade nutritional supplements. Using five of the extra ten thousand to rush deliver and the rest on five low grade nutritional packs. This will allow him to spend five full days inside Mythic.

Time inside Mythic is faster than in real life. This allows the game makers to set daytime in Mythic as night time in the real world. On top of that the cycle in Mythic is twenty four hours of day light and twelve hours of night. The day time lasts from Six pm to six am in the real world and the night time is from six am until six pm.

Tinashe thanks his uncle again before making his way back home. He has to fix his room. The sleek gaming cabin will take up most of the space in his room. He pushes his bed into the storage room that used to be his sisters room. She lives with her father. A mean old bastard at least he is better off so has a good life.

She always tells him, ” Brother here with you guys is just nicer. I like it more.” Tinashe doesn’t understand how she could like living in squalor better than her fathers place. He has a big mansion in the rich part of town.

Tinashe gets done an hour later. He is really excited this time. He is going to keep the legendary item he found. In his old life his partner in the guild and vice guild leader had betrayed Tinashe for a mere hundred thousand credits. He could not believe it.

Vega had always been there for him. They had gone through thick and thin together they are blood brothers. Even though Vega is really a girl In the real world. When he found the legendary item she had tried to force him to sell it. When that failed she sent out information a out the item. Being only a second rate guild  The bigger guilds bullied him and his guild mates. Forcing him to the negotiation table. The bigger guilds then tried to add insult to injury and tried to force him to take a low payment for the item.

Tinashe furious at the guilds deleted his character and with it the legendary item. This caused them to take out a bounty on him. Which Vega of all people collected on her last words to him, “You should have taken the money.”

She pushed on off the forth floor balcony of their shared apartment. He fell to his death and landed on the street. Tinashe vows to ruin the bitch in this life and those damned guilds that forced into doing so insane as to delete his character.

His mother shouts, ” Tinashe come here there is someone at the door for you ” Tinashe can’t imagine who it can be.

Tinashe jumps running to the door. At the door is fat, light skinned boy. This is none other than his best friend.

Tinashe says, “Bron What are doing here bro?” Tinashe smiles at fatty Bron. fatty Bron has dyed his hair a deep red. They give each other a huge hug. They haven’t seen each other since graduation.

Bron says, ” This brother has a surprise for you. I have worked really hard over the December holidays. To get this for you.” Bron hands him a small head device. These cost about two thousand credits each a small fortune for boys fresh out of high school. Tinashe In his old life had sold this gift from Bron without giving it a second thought. Back then he was really a terrible friend he had only used Bron. Tinashe adds Bron to his vow list to repay more than all the past kindness he received from Bron.

Tinashe says, “Thanks Bron I can’t believe you. You really are the best friend a guy can have.” Tinashe accepts the gift he is really greatful. This way his sister can also play. They can see each other everyday without worry.

Bron says, “Sorry no can do I still have to finish other things today. Plus I need to be home to teach you about Mythic.” Tinashe smiles thanking his friend. Bron  and him had never played together in his old life because by the time Tinashe joined Mythic as a an elite. Bron was already dead killed in a failed mugging.

Tinashe says, “Okay I look forward to your leadership.” Bron pats his chest then gives him a thumbs up. Bron then leaves going to do his chores for the day.

Letty says, ” I swear that boy gets bigger every time I see him. You better make sure to thank him properly…” Tinashe nods at his moms suggestion as he hands her the the hand held device…” And then, what am I supposed to do with this?”

Tinashe says, ” Please give it time Scarlet for me. I will send her message on how to use it just please mom.” His mother works in Scarlets father house as a maid. He is after all a local legend as a former wrestling champion.

Letty says, “I will do it since it will let you be close to your sister.” She smiles as she puts it in her bag and leaves for work.

A few minutes later a large white truck arrives on his pot holed street. A large image of a woman holding the world in her arms with a caption reading Giga Technology.

Tinashe rushes out to meet the robot driven truck fitting close to his house. A sleek looking Fabricant holds a clip board and says in a cold monotone mechanical voice, ” Do you accept delivery.” The robot has already scanned his identity. It only needs a voice authorization from Tinashe. The clip board is apparently something that people used to use but Tinashe is not sure what for.

The robots take out the black chrome cabin moving it. Into Tinashes’ room with minimal hassle. Tinashe watches as they install all the wiring and necessary low grade nutritional packs. The gaming cabin is about as big as a queen size bed.

It has a slanted designs, he links it with his cell data and confirms he agrees to enter Mythic. Tinashe then goes the kitchen and cleans up. Afterwards he makes supper even if its only around four o’clock. Since he plans to spend most of time in game today. He is going to make his mom supper who will be back after midnight.

Tinashe eats his warm meal alone. The feelings of nostalgia all around him. He is truly happy have relive these small moments at home. His old life had been hell…
